It was posted here a few weeks ago as a deal. Not sure why its being shot down when its a further 10 bucks cheaper than that.
But with it being the same price on Amazon now, thats probably preferrable for most.

Don't get why people love this, isn't it just another non-compressor unit same as the others?

    • -6

Yep! I have a $20 Aldi system and its cheap and nasty, but essentially the same thing

    • +1

Hey - any links to alternatives you could share?

      • -3

Not the cheapest, but this is essentially the same (from a 2sec Google search)

No its not. This is a churn machine. Very different mechanisim. The Creami is more comparable with what you find in a commercial kitchen.

Thanks for sending the link all the same.

          That's nothing like the Creami!

People should know what the product is before making comments regarding it.

The Pacojet is the ice cream maker that commercial kitchens use. I think they cost like $10K.

Basically the patents on the Pacojet mechanism have expired recently so Ninja have been able to produce a copycat and sell it at a price more suitable for the home consumer, and apparently it does a very good job at producing results similar to the Pacojet.

It's a much different mechanism to other home ice cream makers of years gone by.

I have one of these and it's amazing. Been eating icecream 2-3 times a day for a couple of months now - protein powder ice cream after gym, fruit-based ice cream with coconut cream as a snack, and very rarely an actual gelato-style ice cream as a treat. Have actually lost weight because it satisfies my cravings for sweet food, and I'm eating more fruit than ever.

The quality of the ice cream is really high and consistent, whereas my old churn machine would be hit and miss and would freeze rock solid after a few days in the freezer.

Kombucha also helps to remove the sweet cravings fyi

Now I'm interested. Need proportions for your recipes :)

Mostly I do three things, but never had anything turn out horrible (except for one I put way too much shredded coconut into). As long as you blend whatever you make into something between a smoothie and a thick custard, it'll work.

        Protein recipe:
        3-4 scoops protein powder
        3-4 bananas
        Scoop of greek yoghurt
Enough milk to loosen the mix up

        Fruit recipe:
Half can of mixed fruit (or few cups of frozen fruit), some syrup from the can if you want it sweeter
        Half can of coconut cream

        Gelato recipe:
Follow any popular online recipe that involves a french custard with eggs and it works great. Haven't settled on a favourite one yet, they're all good.

Thank you @hrayn3 for the review. I like the idea of protein ice cream with fruit
