Great, noisy machines. They do a very good job.

I price matched the previous low price of $269 down at JB and purchased with discounted gift cards to pay $255, but this looks like an all-time low price.

This product is a game changer. I'm able to have a pint of high-protein, low-calorie ice cream every single day. I don't know how I went this long without one.

    • Nope was $188 in may 23.

      • +2

$188? You sure? Pretty sure it was around $288 during that time, don't think it's ever dropped below $250.

      • 3XCamel shows that $255 is an all-time low price. Where did you ever see $188?

        • Turn on 3rd party sellers. It was sold by a 3rd party, shipped by amazon. I got the alert but unfortunately had already purchased months prior.

    • Top recipes for the group? :)

Dairy is an issue for me, but here's what I do:

        • 300 mL of low-fat, lactose free milk
        • 1 scoop of (unflavoured) whey protein isolate
        • Half a sachet of Aeroplane's lite (diet) creamy chocolate mousse mix (there are high protein mud cake alternatives, but often sold out at my local Woolies).

Then after I've done a few spins, I might use the "mix in" feature on some crushed up biscoff biscuits, chocolate or whatever is in the fridge. Fruits are a popular addition, but I have lots of fruit normally throughout the day.

In terms of nutrition, the above gives you 276 calories for 43 grams of protein. So 62% of the caloric content is really just protein. Pretty hard to beat given the taste. If it wasn't so loud, I'd be having a pint every morning for breakfast (have seen some coffee recipes) - maybe soon when I move out on my own.

I've used one daily for the last few months. The lid is easier to clean if you run it under hot water shortly after use. I start with frozen fruit and it can be used in the Creami after maybe as low as 4 hours by starting quite cold.

  • I have been wanting to get my friends one for so long, as i have one myself. This price is too good not to pull the trigger! Thanks for the post OP.

    What a great price!
I'm a retired chef and this is a game changer for me, as I make a lot of ice cream, gelato, sorbet etc for the family and this is such a time saver.

The respin and mix in features are very handy and work well.
Once you know what's best to freeze and create, there are countless things you can make.
One of the teenagers here freezes fruit salad from a tin and that comes out so smooth, it's incredible.
Want to go sugar free, fat free, dairy free… No problem. High protein? Go for it!

I found that scraping down the sides after 1st crush removes ice particles, then I respin.

If you have a family, I'd recommend some extra tubs to have prepped ahead of time. Make sure they have the gaps at the bottom like the originals as I believe that design is to hold the mix in place initially. Don't get knock offs with a completely flat base.

Prepping your mix is not a problem if you plan ahead. You get 3 containers with the machine.
Mixing time is not that long really.
Take advantage of the mix in button and make your stuff interesting.
12 hours is more than enough for my stuff to freeze here, but people obviously have different freezers and settings. Less if you chill ingredients before prepping.
It's loud, but so is my blender. Do research this if this is a concern.

Cleaning is a non issue with hot water, from my experience.

I've enjoyed experimenting with everything from fresh fruit and berries, fruit I grow and preserve, tinned fruit to Cottees Vanilla pudding mix with Cocao (not cocoa) to make a rich chocolate ice cream ($1.80 bag makes 2 containers).

Kids eat dessert more now as it's a cold treat in Summer and it's sugar free & fat free 99% of the time.

If you get one, read the instructions as you need to make sure the frozen product is flat on top for instance. Look up ideas for recipes online.

    Good luck and enjoy!

    Must… Resist…

    • +1

I bought one. I couldnt resist and I really love ice cream.

      • Alright you convinced me I bought it LMAO

        • +1

Told my wife about it and for some reason she was actually pleased with an ozbargain purchase!

          Win!

          Edit it just arrived woot

    Does it have a compressor?

    • No, it doesn't make old fashioned aerated fluffy ice cream. It's different, but better. It makes more intense flavoured frozen treats or healthy fruit sorbets , smoothie bowls or high protein ice creams. Can even use for savoury flavours.
Doesn't require a bowl to be frozen in the freezer either to churn.
Plenty of videos out there with pacojet comparisons.

As mentioned in a previous post, I have a few Ninja Creami recipe books that I can share. Just PM me a Gmail account address and I'll give you access.

    • +1

I have sent you a message thanks

  • I had this for 2 months and it started smoking. Scary. Returned and got my money back. Loud as anything. Don't think it made sorbet any more amazing than the refrigerative ice cream/sorbet maker I had.

    • +1

Which sorbet machine do you have that is good?

      • I have the delonghi Ick5000. It's a workhorse. However they don't sell it anymore. Overseas they have the ick6000 but not available here.

  • Just follow the recipes created by exerciseforcheatmeals:

If you are with origin energy you can get a goodguys commercial account and get this item for $246

    • Plus delivery or pick up yourself. So $9 for inclusive of delivery from Amazon is probably better for most

  • This or something like the aldi ice cream maker?

    • +1

I believe this one has more recipes like milkshake, etc

    • +1

Also has a compressor. So can make ice cream in an hour

This doesn't and requires 24 hours.

The Aldi is much better. This just has good influencer marketing

      • +1

I have a compressor ice cream maker and this and they both have their uses. I often make ice cream in the compressor and respin in the creami. If you haven't used both I would advise against making comparisons.

        • And what if I have used both? You are assuming I haven't?

      • +4

I'm a retired chef and have used compressor machines for decades and they are great. I own one.

I also own the Ninja Creami and I have not touched the compressor machine at all since getting it.

"Compressor gives you ice cream in an hour". Yes it does. I like that, but it seems like forever after getting the Creami.
Compressor machine does give me double the amount though in one go.

The Creami gives me ice cream in 5 minutes, not an hour. I just had to prep the mix 12 hours before. Not big deal when I make multiple containers with the one mix and have them waiting in the freezer.
With 2 containers, I can make the same amount as the compressor, but in 10-12 minutes. Not an hour.

If you have the space to store premade mixes in the containers, the Creami is hard to go past with all the ability to make soft serve, shakes etc so easily.

I recommend both styles of machines and it all comes down to individual choices and preferences.

I don't need another machine for the kitchen, must resist.

    • No need to resist. It's good.

  • +4

I know there is already a lot of positivity on this page for this machine, but another positive note. Bought one of these recently, daughter with eating disorder, on an ensure prescription (like super up and go's), two of those to a pot and then creamified and i get zero push back on eating these where as she would not touch them at all after being force feed them in hospital. Been an awesome machine so far

    $247.50 now….

    • +2

$247 now! It was a sign, finally decided to try it out

      • $245 now :p

  • Thanks OP. Got mine and soooo happy! I ate a whole tub made of protein ice cream. Was too much but the texture was perfect and couldn’t stop

    • What recipe did you use if you don’t mind sharing ?

  • Does anyone have a tried and tested protein plant based recipe? Simply can't handle dairy anymore as much as I love it

    • Wife can’t tolerate dairy either, found botanika blends to mix very well for a plant based protein. Have just tried couple of different pints of flavoured protein and almond milk. It’s good but needs more experimenting. Consistency is protein heavy atm so may need to adjust milk and protein ratios and also going to try the xanthan gum to see if it improves the consistency as it seems like everyone on YouTube uses it.
