$73.79 for 2kg? Pretty sure I bought it recently at chemist warehouse half price sale for $49

Did u not watch 4 corners?

    • +1

      What was on 4 corners?

      • +1

        There was an investigation

        • Shocking. The investigation that is, not that one took place.

    Brad has left the building

  • This or Optimum Nutrition’s WPI? https://amzn.asia/d/7YBy5fG

    • +3

Note that that isn't WPI, they're both blends.

I'd take the Musashi in a heartbeat to be honest, nothing justifies paying $16 more per kilo. On that note, @aminozcomau did hint that soon they might have a big sale, and their big sales usually end up at $100 for 4kg of WPI if you minus the store credit from the cost.

      • -3

Both amino and musashi don’t mix well with water. Not as well as Optimum nutrition. I find that sometimes there are big clunks left in my protein shake

        • +23

You need bigger muscles so you can shake harder, but to get bigger muscles you need more protein….

        • +4

AminoZ WPI mixes fine with water.
The only thing I can think of is Taro Milk flavour being excessively foamy, but not clunky.

        • +2

Tried shaking and then leaving it for a bit? I find after 5-10 minutes any big chunks have dissolved. Plus it leaves a good bit of time to prep all the other supplement mixes, and stare menacingly at new arrivals.

        • I’ve used both for a long time and they mix just fine.

    • +1

I would take the ON, better mixing, better quality, better flavour. And I will say it again Musashi are not what they used to be 20 years ago. Their quality of protein and supplements is generally pretty poor. But also look at VPA, Bulk Nutrients and Aminoz (great customer service and price) .

Made in New Zealand from local and imported ingredients.

    • Anything in particular wrong with that?

      • +13

        https://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-02-19/foreign-produce-label….

AUSVEG spokesman Hugh Gurney says produce can leave China as a frozen product, then be packaged or modified in New Zealand, and then sent on to Australia under the labelling 'Made in New Zealand from local and imported ingredients'.

"Often this produce from China is actually grown in conditions which would not be permitted here [in Australia], so we feel this is quite a deceptive practice," he told AM.

        • +2

I sent them a message asking where the country of origin is for their whey. Will report back!

  • +4

The "High Protein" product is guff.

Buy the "100% Whey" one, and wait 'til 2KG goes half price at Chemist Warehouse.

Woolworths now stays rent free in their heads. Love to see them melt like snowflakes over everything that they can’t comprehend.

          • -2

@karteej: Triggered by a media organisation whose Patriarch dumped his Australian citizenship to make money in the US. Funny how that doesn’t occur to them as being “unAustralian?”.

          • -1

@karteej: Love to see people triggered by the English arrival on these shores despite it occurring over 200 years ago and in terms of total human suffering caused by it, it's a drop of piss in the ocean compared to something more recent like say, WW2.

It's sad that Ththe criteria for a race being labelled indigenous is essentially whether that group of people lost a war, refused to integrate with the victors and has since centred their identity around complaining.

This is why you've never seen the indigenous label on a French/English/German/Russian/Mexican/Nigerian/etc. person.. maybe I'll start referring to myself as an indigenous European since Judaism is currently not so hot in the media.

So Potato Head decides to boycott (cancel) them. The Right are all about free market - anyone can do and say whatever they want, except when it upsets them.

      • Looks like they are cancelling you as well.

  • +2

In it for the chicken stock.

Why did the chicken cross the road………Be'cause

  • Wouldn’t it be better to just eat macadamia nuts at this price per kg ?

    • +4

      Its subjective.
1kg of macadamia nuts has much less protein but can satisfy the 'nut in my mouth' feeling you may crave after a long day of thinking about how much you enjoy some nice nuts in your mouth.

Not my cup of tea but I like my tea like my modern professional female athletes.

      • -2

Is that with nuts or without ?

      • +3

but can satisfy the 'nut in my mouth' feeling you may crave

        Oh I doubt that

  • +1

Good price pharmacy have the Musashi 100% whey (which actually has a higher protein content) on sale for ~$61 for 2kg - a much better deal.

    • -1

      100% cheese

  • -2

Get eggs instead. Much better absorbed by the body. Whey is waste from cheese production.

    • +7

Get steak instead if everything is the same price all of a sudden…

      • 48% of the eggs are absorbed in your body and available within 2 to 3 hours of eating. Steak is around 10%

        • +10

48% of egg statistics are made up by big chicken to push egg sales

    • Natural gas is waste from petrol production. Useless product?

    • +1

You know protein powder is the new standard for maximum absorption, right?

    • +1

Whey is more bioavailable on a protein perspective, and much cheaper per bolus of protein.

Also much lower calories per protein serve too

  • +1

Mix it with the chicken stock for that extra protein?

  • +1

This might be a good choice if you want to gain weight and somehow can't eat enough chocolate. If protein is what you're looking for get something 90% protein or higher.

    • Yeah cheers, new to taking protein had the ON 100% whey but running low thought id give this a look as it was cheaper

      • I've been buying protein for a few years and use to buy predominantly the Musashi 2kg from chemist warehouse for about $40 for most of 2020 to maybe 2022. So this price doest do it for me.
I've since gone to aminoz which is better protein then this one and bulk buying is a lot cheaper. So when you see their sale come up get on board there.

  • +4

This is loaded with powdered milk. Would be better off with a WPI/WPC blend.

    • Yeah their 100% Whey product is slightly more expensive but much much better value.

  • Thanks for posting but this isn’t a good deal. Bulk Nutrients Protein Matrix+ is a lower price and much better product.

  • Thanks for posting this, let me know all the protein bars are also on half price special.

I'll leave the powder though, better options out there.

  • Got one 🙏

  • +1

    12% sugar 🤯🤮

    • My understanding is these tend to be high in Sugar.

      • +1

This one is because it used powdered milk as part of the ingredients.

Pure whey products tend to be closer to 2 or 3g of sugar, which is natural to whey.

Check out their 100% Whey product instead.

Jay when is Aminoz protein. I need to replenish my goodies ^_^

Just got this from one of the AMINO Z reps, for those holding out on creatine and protein deals:

"Just a quick heads up, we're going to be launching a new major OzBargain deal on Monday morning.

Both WPI and creatine will be featured"

    • Which Monday ?

      • I received the email 2 hours ago and there was no number after/before the "Monday" or anywhere in the body of the email so (assumedly/very likely) would be this coming Monday morning on the 26th.

Any Monday further than that (26th) would've been dated by the rep (at least one would think so).

    • I was on my way to buy some supplements when I saw the mail. That being said, I returned home empty handed.

      • Amino Z coming in clutch

  • Lots of other Musashi items @ woolies half price: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/search/products?searchTer…

Dark Choc Mint Protein Crisp come at me bro

  • Would taking this Musashi once a day but not doing a workout do anything at all?

    Just wondering
