My mate is Scottish/Australian.
Lived in Oz most of his life and moved back to Glasgow for work 5 years ago.
He's moving back to Australia but will keep his UK job and bank account.
Are there any broker on here who could advise how a bank would let him borrow if he can show he has a stable income, enough saving etc?

Bankwest, CBA, BOQ, Macquarie, Suncorp just to name a few. GBP is common currency that most banks will accept as income for servicability. He won't have any troubles
I think he was just worried that since his employment is not in Australia, he would get rejected.
So if he has enough savings, has been working for his employer long enough and can service the mortgage, being employed in the UK and having a UK savings account are not a problem?
It's good that you went via a broker because, generally speaking, banks can be difficult to deal with if you don't fit a 'normal borrower profile'.
A friend of mine went through something similar since their husband works for the UN and doesn't pay income tax. They had to find a broker who had experience dealing with edge cases like this.

Correct. Not a problem for most lenders. Certainly no issue for the big ones.

Lol, I know, as I wrote the post I thought that's how it read.
But after spending a few days trying to convince him that he'll be OK, that he should contact a broker and that there's no need to worry because you're employed overseas or because your bank account is not based in Oz I thought I would ask my favourite forum.
No problem with the Perpetual Bank.
But beware they are the worst doing the dodgiest deals.
Maybe HSBC or something multinational?
