Flpr Adapter to Turn iPhone, iPod or iPad to Universal Remote Control for $11 from Officeworks

170

Bought this accessory (small piece of tech that plugs in the iPhone) from officeworks Bondi Junction.

I tried it with my iphone on my LG tv and LG DVD / VCR combo unit and it worked very well.

You can even custom programme the remote to do multiple tasks with one touch. Need to download their app from the App Store. Just type flpr in the App Store, and you will fi

Couldn't find it in OW website, but found it in myShopping.com.au and price ranges from $45 to $109 (haven't checked delivery).
If you have kids that keep losing the main control, you'll definitely want this piece of technology.

Compatible with iOS 3 and above.

  • Does it work with cable tv (ie foxtel)?

    • Yes. It's pre-programmed with 46000+ codes.

I actually was surprised at how easy the set up was, I only needed to select tv option then the make LG, and bingo, it worked. Same for my combo unit.

No model, just the make, and it's working.

It also has a learning feature.

That didn't answer the question LOL

Foxtel uses a "unique" frequency which many universal remotes cannot deal with.

        • "Foxtel uses a "unique" frequency which many universal remotes cannot deal with."

where did you obtain this rather mis-informed idea?
pretty much every 'learning' remote (e.g. logitech etc) will handle foxtel remote codes without issue

Flpr works fine with Foxtel, I've tried it… Both on the old boxes and on the IQ…

My reply started with YES. Think that answer the question lol.

What came after YES, is extra info that might be useful to anyone else.

There is Foxtel option after you choose cable tv.

Who told you foxtel uses unique frequency, I think you mean a 'secret' frequency that none else know of, or maybe patented so it cannot be copied!! If that's the case then frequencies are not secrets, and cannot be patented coz they are not an innovation in themselves lol.

          Fail?

  • is this new or used?

sorry photo show the adapter only

  • I bought a few for $10 last year… Works well but I've hardly every used it.

  • Brand new. It wasn't in the clearance. Just with other iAccessories section.

  • I only bought it as a back up, since my kids sometimes misplace the main control somewhere in the house!

  • Is this happening at all other OfficeWorks ?

    • i doubt it, it's not even listed on their website…

    • I don't know! I just saw it and didn't have a price tag on, so I asked one of the staff to price check, thinking it would be something like $40 to $50, but when he told me it's $11, I thought …sweet man.

I wanted to get 2 of them, but they told me that was the last one.

Try you luck if you live close by OW, I can tell you,I have been using it now for half the day and it's worth every cent!!

  • I might pop in on the off chance. Where would I find such a gadget? In which section? Or what would I ask staff for?

    • either with the iPhone accessories or in the bargain bin…

    • Found it in the iPhone accessories.
It wasn't marked down, just displayed with other iPhone accessories but no price tag on it.
Ask for iPhone remote control adapter, and the brand is flpr.

      • i think the company might be going belly up, their iphone app hasn't been updated for quite a while…

        http://appshopper.com/lifestyle/flpr

        • Yep, seems like

Out goes Tunelink auto and the rest of it

          Sad

        • The app doesn't need updating.
They only need to update the code database on their server(s).

Once you choose the device brand, the app connects to the database through internet, get the code, and you good to go. You can use the remote if you are offline, coz the codes stay locally in the iphone( iPad, iPod).

          Hope that helps.

They only need to update the code database on their server(s).

So that means these things will be completely useless if the company does indeed go belly up.

so this is only at that one store?

    • OP did say:
"I wanted to get 2 of them, but they told me that was the last one."

  • Checked at Officeworks, Trinity Gardens, SA. All out of stock. Told me they were discontinued in OW SA. Haven't checked other stores. Anyone else seen them in SA? I suspect that they are all sold out now.

  • No stock East Perth.

No longer on the WA officeworks system, so can't check store stock.
