[SUBS, Prime] The Equalizer 3 Will be Added to Stream @ Prime Video

2740

Hey everyone! I have just discovered that The Equalizer 3 will be free to stream on Amazon Prime Video on the 29th of February.

Obviously Denzel Washington he is an amazing actor. The Equalizer 1 & 2 were great, so I will wait until 29 of Feb. to see the 3. (Although I could travel the 7 seas and watch it now if I want to).

Summary

Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he's done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends' protector by taking on the mafia.

    Watched in theater, good one.

    Great tourism ad for Italy

meh, this film series is getting a bit old… denzel can't do his own action sequence like john wick so it's mainly the baddies who do most of the physical action and he just gets them from the shadows lol.

    • +3

"he just gets them from the shadows lol."

yeah I mean the vibe i got from 3 was "he's (character) is getting old" so basically becomes more passive. like NO SPOILERS but the first scene kinda says it all the look on his face is like "i'm done with this, i'm tired" and that stays through the rest.

I know imdb ratings aren’t the greatest measurement but I’ve generally found anything above a 7.0 is decent (worth watching if you have the opportunity), anything above a 8.0 is a must watch (worth going out of your way for). Anything above 9.0 is top tier.

This is a 6.8 on IMDB so definitely nothing special, maybe decent enough to have in the background. Keep in mind these rankings are higher because of the availability of so many movies and shows on streaming services.

    • +4

If you haven't noticed by now imdb, rotten tomatoes, google scores, metacritic and so on and on. Are mostly highly rated by paid columnists, magazine/online reviewers and studio production bots.

As for this movie, John wick and new addition bee keeper.

Leave the brain outside, outside, that's it.

      • +1

        "John wick"

but you have to remember John wick is based on a comic.

I loved the club fight scene (with I think the slightly tubby guy with chain) in the latest one. literally from beginning to end that scene looked like a literal Tekken boss level fight.

        • +2

Incorrect, I'm afraid. The first movie (based on a screenplay called 'Scorn') came out in 2014. Comic wasn't released until 2017.

          • +3

@matttyd: damn are u serious. I been thinking and saying the wrong thing this entire time then. 😂

well maybe if I can try to save myself, if it's been made into a comic then the movie itself and the ones that followed are "comic like" right.

      • Yeah, I watched Beekeeper with a friend a few weeks ago. She said it starred Jason Stratham. Enough said. It was ok in parts, completely stupid in parts, but if you enjoy this type of 1 person against xxx people, it's all formulaic good fun for some, stupid, over the top rubbish for others. Each to their own. People who enjoy it, will rate it high, others won't. As you said, and I paraphrase, it's not an intellectual movie.

    • very recent films get pushed to the top and slowly lose their high ratings except in exceptional circumstances. older films that don't achieve a cult classic status get completely forgotten. i swear some films are artificially rated high, like gravity. but yes, the top 100 are mostly worth watching

  • +8

Saw this at the movies and was sorely disappointed. Boring at times and the end scence was very anti climactic.

  • +4

    The first was the best

    • +2

I have found that with most of the film series the first one it's most of the times the best.

      • Except for the Indiana Jones trilogy, the third movie was awesome. No one counts the 4th, and I haven't seen the 5th.

  • This movie is already on a streaming service? I watched it a few weeks ago?

  • Watched 1 and 2 yesterday!

  • It was alright, previous 2 are better

    • +13

Why try and shoehorn your political views onto everything? Go outside and get some fresh air dude.

      • +6

I remember when the term “political views” was reserved for actual policy decisions being made by one party or another. Now it’s for bat$#!+ conspiracy theories.

Not blaming you, just lamenting how much stupider we’ve become as a species.

  • Yeah, its pretty ordinary. 5.5/10 I'd say, 1st two were quite awesome , this is really meh, I wouldn't waste time bothering but if you need your crash crash bang bang fix it'll satisfy you I guess?!

  • +13

Haven’t seen it but assume it’s about a guy who’s really good at algebra

    • +3

Or Chemistry…….oh wait I'm thinking of the Neutralizer

    • Yeah it is, [Spoiler] I love the part when he fail algebra and turn to music career and invented the equalizer

  • Already on HBO Max if you have the sub.

  • +2

Amazing content considering it's primarily a shopping subscription.

First was mint. Second was rubbish. Hoping this will equalise the two..

    • If you think second was rubbish, then 3rd one is trash

  • Thanks for sharing. Been wanting to watch this one…

  • Excellent, thanks

  • Was on is Netflix. Bout 2 weeks ago thanks vpn

    • +1

I watched it without VPN. It must have switched over recently.

    • +1

Awesome. Just watched it on Netflix US. I thought it was a pretty enjoyable action flick despite the armchair critics from OzBargain. My advice is. Between MAFS or EQ3, I’d choose EQ3.

  • Great movie,
    EQ3 completes the whole movie!

  • I saw all 3.
to be honest 1 was great, 2 was epic (especially the last third in the storm if you seen it you know what I'm talking about), 3 was.. only ok. maybe about as good as 1 but for the 3rd movie it was like lukewarm I dunno how to put it I was expecting something more epic than number 2. which is confusing to me because I just checked and they are all the same director.

    • 1 was great and followed the TV series, silly but that's what the Equaliser was all about , 2 was silly he wouldn't stand a chance and the plot made no sense. "Killers for hire" when they have mercenary companies, high risk security companies, etc and they want to be "killers for hire" and why would the government disband his unit? Did the writer forget about the first movie? He left because he was disillusion in killing innocents. It's the exact opposite of the TV series where the government used his former team mates to help them him in difficult situations. Being edgy for edgy sake that's number 2, 3rd movie will be worse because of the actions he took in the 2nd movie.

      • "1 was great and followed the TV series"

tbh I did not know it was based on a TV series or know any of the lore before equaliser 1.

my expectation going in for the first equaliser was that it's a movie that's like "the transporter". so better than marvel movies but my expectations weren't that high right, so I liked equaliser 1 and 2.

  • Was available from US Netflix from 31st December. You just need a VPN

    Now with free ads!

    • When are the ads start? I didn't get any when I was watching a movie yesterday.

      • +1

I thought they started on the 29th of January 2024 the same as the U.S, but it looks like Amazon doesn't serving ads via prime until mid 2024 in Australia.

        My apologies.

        • Nah you are right, there is typically a skipable add prior to shows and movies (I watch a decent amount on prime).

          • +2

            @TerryJustTerry: Ah I didn't know that!

I stopped watching prime video when I heard the ads were coming in last year and was considering watching again when I read they weren't starting ads in Australia till 2024.

Guess i'll just keep avoiding prime video then….

            • @scooba: True True, for me they are only at the start so it gives a lot more before the movie vibes and its skipable so idm too much (also mainly for other shows you can watch at prime).

              • +2

@TerryJustTerry: I tried a tv show and a movie and there aren't any ads for me as yet, so maybe I do have another few months until the abominable ads start?

                • @scooba: Ahhh maybe they are staggering the intro, either way niceeeeee!

        • I have been getting ads for awhile now. I swear since like end of last year, but only sometimes and you can skip them. pretty sure they are always "coming to Prime video soon" ads. are these the ads you are talking about?

or is it going to be unskippable ads from mid 2024??

          • +1

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I see and no, these aren’t the ads I’m talking about and have also yet to encounter any.

From what I read it looks like un-skippable ads from 2024 and if you want to remove them you’ll have to pay on top of your prime membership.

I think this is going to upset a ton of people.

            • @scooba: ok damn unskippable ads then huh.. 🙁

"I think this is going to upset a ton of people."

yeah it's sad nearly every sub is going to do it soon after netflix did it. tbh though I just started a month of another streaming sub over a week ago, and I decided to pay the ad tier to save 30%. I haven't got a single ad yet. so I guess it can be "buggy" and you can pay for ad tier and get no ads lol.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I saw someone else, somewhere else put it well - "Shrinkflation effecting the streaming services now". Well the bugs might satiate for a little while on the ad tiers, but I don't like ads and I'm not paying extra on top of an existing subscription.

I also read Amazon has dropped Dolby Vision and Atmos from their ad supported tier which they stated anywhere on their website the b@$#%rds!

                • @scooba: "I saw someone else, somewhere else put it well - "Shrinkflation effecting the streaming services now"."

I don't buy that. I swear netflix did it like mid covid just to squeeze money (everyone staying home, more loyal subscribers). honestly there was a lot of complaints online when they did it, but someone said netflix wouldn't have done it unless they already knew the money they would make off the subscribers that stayed paying more would easily cover the money lost from cancelling subscribers. they also laid off a lot of people I think to get that record breaking profit.

yeah regarding amazon ads now, I swear I get it on the TV sometimes maybe once a month or something. but on the tablet the ads are more often I can't explain it.

"I also read Amazon has dropped Dolby Vision and Atmos from their ad supported tier which they stated anywhere on their website the b@$#%rds!"

kinda related but when signing up to my month of ad tier on another sub I did notice the wording was quite sus. one of the bullet points for the cheapest no ads tier was really confusing, like for a moment I almost thought you miss out on some of the content on the ad tier. but after I read it three times slowly, I realised it was just sneaky wording. but I'm sure a lot of newcomers will panic and choose the no ads tier and pay more because they think their favorite TV show might not be on the ad tier.

                  • +1

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I agree with what you said and yes, it's very strategic of these companies to do these "ad supported tiers" and the cancellations that follow.

What the marketing fools don't realise is people like me will just turn it off and find something else to do.

I know when the ads do come to prime video, i'll be deleting the app.

  • Welcome to the world where hired killers don't know how to kill.. and career gunmen don't know how to shoot.

But the part after he left the villa and insert the event was pretty funny.

    • +1

Yea the part where the left the villa and fell into the well was pretty funny, almost like a Super Mario moment.

  • Series this originated from was the best

    • You mean death in bunnings?

    • Brooklyn 99?

  • +1

It’s not as goood as #1 get better than #2. The screenplay was a bit ridiculous yet it gets 3 stars for the great European setting

  • Compared to the first one, not enough equalising.

  • +1

I wouldn't even watch this for free on the 7 seas

  • All 3 are good imo.

  • -1

    rubbish movie
octogenarian out marysues a marysue, and beats the shit out of everyone

    • "octogenarian"

I had to look that word up. his not that old is he? I was thinking like 60 max. but then again I am probably not in a position to judge his age.

  • I watched this on a plane heading overseas and felt I should have used the time for another movie. I really liked the first one, 2nd one was good but this last one was very disappointing.

    • SQ? Tried to do the same 2 weeks ago watched with the wife. Only lasted 10 mins got put off by the unnecessary gore. 1+2 was good, can't comment on 3.

      • +1

It was an United Airlines flight. You did the right thing and turned it off. I watched it till the end and wished I hadn't.

  • +1

Seems like the reviews from OZB are pretty woeful, so it doesn't make it regret cancelling my Prime membership due to the fee hike.

I wasn't really watching much on Prime.

While next day delivery for any purchase was great, I also figured, I could wait to accumulate my order until it totalled $59.

    • I never get next day delivery here in SA. I was thinking the same but the thing is that I would miss on those cheap lightning deals if I didn't have prime, or I had to pay for delivery which it's not worth it.

      • I'll join again… maybe for a month at a time every few months, like I do with Disney+

    • To be honest, I’d take the OzBargain reviews with a grain of salt. I just watched EQ3 on Netflix US, and it was a fairly enjoyable flick. Watch it and judge for yourself, if the first few mins do not excite you, switch it to something else. 🐷

  • Warning - (ashamed to say) i was willing to pay $6.99 to watch Equalizer 3 after going through Netflix, Stan and Prime for an hour and not finding anything i haven't seen.
Unfortunately instead of going through Prime and paying them, I clicked on the movie on our TV, which was actually a link to Google TV, also watchable for $6.99, so I paid and started watching. However, during the lengthy Italian dialogue the Google version didn't have English subtitles, neither automatically nor when i tried to manually select it. Spent an hour on that and finally paid another $6.99 to Prime, who did have automatic English subtitles.
I put in a complaint to Google TV who basically told me to get stuffed.
I complained to TIO and got this resonse

"The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) has received your complaint about Google TV.

    The role of the TIO

The TIO is a dispute resolution service for small business and residential consumers with complaints about telecommunications carriage services supplied or offered in Australia.

    This complaint issue

Your complaint is about refund of charges you paid to Google TV for a movie. Please know that Google TV is not a member of our scheme.

Section 2.1 of TIO Terms of Reference states that "We can handle complaints made by consumers and occupiers about members of our scheme."

Therefore, TIO cannot continue handling this complaint.

    Where to take your complaint

Some organisations that may be able to handle your complaint are:

the consumer authority for your State or Territory, via https://info.australia.gov.au/information-and-services/publi…

Next time I'll get the movies direct from Prime or Netflix etc who would at least reply to your complaint.

  • +1

Loved the first two, but this one was a big let down in my opinion

  • Awful script and movie

  • The best Equalizer was Edward Woodward. Yes, I'm old. Not Boomer old - Gen X old.

  • I like Denzel Washington, although he's not my favourite actor of all time. My favourite actor of all time is Mr Sidney Poitier.

  • I've enjoyed the franchise and Washington is a great actor but this was the worse of the three.

  • 2 was one of the worst sequels to a great movie I’ve ever watched.

I don’t hold high hopes for this one.

  • Denzel 💯

  • Yay 👏🏻
