  • Good if you buy it anyway but isn't this nearing on 5 bucks these days?

I find most bread is and the few times I've bought cheap bakery bread or cheap bread or any kind it goes mouldy even when in the fridge. Takes me more than a week to get through a loaf of bread so I put it in the fridge when I buy it but still goes off sometimes.

Bread freezes well. Keep the excess in the freezer and move whatever you need to the fridge the night before. No more wastage.

        • I'll try this, this will work with any bread? I usually get sunblest loafs and must be packed with preservatives because it lasts me the longest by far. I've bought fresh coles bakery bread and it's gone mouldy in 3 days in the fridge. I just need a new fridge/freezer as my freezer can be temperamental at times so I don't keep much in there as luckily the neighbours let me store stuff in their deep freeze when it decides not to work.

@lookingforadeal7: Leave the whole loaf in the freezer and get out the slices you need as you need them. For toast you can toast from frozen. For fresh get it out 20 minutes before you need it, just lay the slices separately and it will be defrosted ready to use.

        • move whatever you need to the fridge the night before.

I find the frozen bread very difficult to separate, as it appears that ice crystals link adjacent slices together. Are you adding some form of separator between the slices before you freeze, or what am I doing wrong?

Fridge half, leave the other half in a bread tin or the cupboard (out of sunlight, tightly packaged).

Bread goes stale quicker in the fridge, but mouldier quicker on the bench.

Having just a few days' bread in the cupboard is ideal. The freezer is perfect for the rest.

  • I got 9 tip top to get 10th free

  • Would the thief gates let me out buying just one loaf on it's own though?

I tend to do that when I bake fresh bread

3 grams of suger and 11% salt nah…. Industry alas adds this for market share its like the BS nutri grain being 20% sugar.
Definetly like to see heath index scores of 1/5 on all products that add significant amounts of suger and salt to foods often labeled as healty..

try this as home get that loaf of bread and squash it it ends up being 3 slices of bread thick.. all air and presevatives sugar and salt.

Does anyone feel that their quality has gone down in past few months?

    • Wonder White… quality??? 🤣

    • So many products have changed their recipes or production methods over the last few years for the worst, chocolate, crumpets etc.

  • After COVID, the bread price of wonder and other brands in Coles or Woolworths have raised up more then double. The fresh breads in Bake Delight is kept their price at about $4.7. I prefer chosing bake delight.

  • didnt get it

wouldve loved that since we started buying sliced bread again last week

  • At risk lf sounding like a snob….i dont eat white bread. Wholemeal or nothing for me. I can eat 5 slices of this stuff and it doesn't fill me up.
