Why is this being posted so far in advance?
So you can set yourself a reminder.
So someone doesn't go and buy the game, since it will be free in 8 days?
And to also claim the deal karma before someone else posts it ;-)
I bought a wheel and playing assetto corsa. Never been a rally fan but given its free, it’s worth a try. Thanks for posting
I find rally is a lot harder on the wheel. Make sure everything is mounted very firmly haha
I haven't tried AC but I found ACC difficult with a wheel. I have a lot more fun with Forza Horizon.
AC can be very hard, but its the only game I have because Ozbargain posted it for $11 :-D
The good thing about AC is you can tweak difficultly and assists etc. So you can enjoy it without going hard-cor sim.
I only played a Forza Demo and prefer the realism of AC.
If you find AC on Steam again for $11 - ultimate edition - its well worth giving a go. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823341
Also, the very easy to use Content Manager 3rd party app will let you up the graphics so it will look much more modern.
When I race, I still need to set the AI to about 85%. 95% or above they are just too perfect for me to enjoy.
I still don't do much racing, I mainly do no-assists practice Nordschleife laps - trying very hard not to crash.
Here are a few laps I recorded where I managed not to crash it:

I'm still not very good.
FYI my wheel is an old Logitech DrivingForce GT.
Great wheel for the money - $50 off Facebook Marketplace
Thanks for the info. I may try AC if I can find it cheap. Although I really seem to prefer the driving in Forza Horizon 5 - it feels great and I don't have to worry about going off track too much.
@AdrianW: check this from today: I found and posted the deal after I wrote the above
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/830446
@Skullytor: OK, you've persuaded me. Thanks.
@AdrianW: It's $9.19 on cdkeys for a Steam key.
@apey2000: Already bought from steam for ~$11 (I had steam credit to use).
Not impressed the AC so far. It's just far too serious to be actual fun.
I still can't find a racer I like more than Gran Turismo. Also like the F1 series but have gotten bored of that recently… it's much the same every year
Which wheel are you using?
A $50 facebook marketplace Logitech Driving Force GT

Reviews show the brand new models are only marginally better. So I though its a good way to get into the hubby.
Happy to answer any followup questions.
I had a G920 but upgraded to a Logitech Pro wheel at Christmas after the G920 died a couple of months earlier.
Dirty rally 2 is my go to game. Also, Beam NG is good just for goofing around.
Richard Burns Rally is superior and free
There's also a free DLC to claim: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/dakar-desert-rally--snow…
Couldn't get into this.
Controls are horrendous.
You hit a pebble and go flying.
I just did a couple of races in the "sport" (easy) mode using my wheel and pedals, it's actually not bad. I did have to scale back to force feedback quite a bit, at first it was ripping the wheel out of hands.
sounds like FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming they tied this with the new Grand Tour special, Sand Job (where they drive to Dakar… sort of)
Anyway, I'm perfectly fine with the timing of that, time to go bash around the desert!
I can't I bloody tick the EULA? I've scrolled to the bottom but the checkbox is unresponsive in 2 browsers. (Brave and Firefox)
.
Edit: I think this might be the only time Edge has ever helped me out.
