Now were talking, pretty damn deal.

  • Worth the upgrade from a 2070 super? Or just keep waiting

For gaming, 7800xt roughly equals to 4070 (RT off).
I have both cards - depends on the game u play, you will get 50%-100% more frames on 1440p for 3A games.

How is it for 4k 60? That's what my monitor supports.

        • +3

I have the 6800XT this cards slightly better at 4k than mine, i use a 4k TV with VRR and with some upscaling usually Quality mode have no issue's hitting 4k 60… i got mine used for a few hundred less and best move i made considering the $800-1k+ "midrange" cards cost now…

You may have to tune some of the settings but typically i run med-high on things and get anywhere between 60-100fps depending on the game (except starfield which i got just on or slightly below 60 all the way through) … (just for reference recently played Plague tale Innocence, requiem, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, death stranding, Baldur's gate 3 and GTA V (again) )…

Runs very well. I use this card on my 4K OLED.

I have the RTX2080S and upgraded to RX7800XT. Big difference in performance

Nice from what I can see on OzB the 6800XT never went this low so now might be the time to buy

I have the same card but the Asus variant and I run all my games on 4K with respectable settings. I am very happy with this card. No driver or stability issues. Not into Ray Tracing etc. Don't get sucked in buying an extortionate $1600 GPU. The 16GB VRAM is exceptional.

  • Had my 6700XT for 3 years now, looks like a nice time to upgrade. Probably need a new PSU though I think I'm still using a 650W.

    • I considered buying but thought it might not be worth since I also have a 6700, is there any reason you're looking to upgrade?

      • No specific reason it was mostly an impulse buy. Looks like around 20% FPS gain from some benchmarks I've seen. I think I prefer doing incremental upgrades for a few hundred $ every few years rather than big jumps. Used 6700XT are going for $350-$400 on ebay so it's not a huge cost overall.

        • Fair enough, do you know much about reselling your own used GPUs on eBay? Still sketch on it since I'm not sure if I'd have to lowball myself to sell or something

@maegajang: I've sold a couple before, it's pretty straight forward. You can have a look through sold and active listings to see how other people have listed them and take clues. I usually go for a Buy it Now price with free postage and price it at the higher end of what they've been selling for.

@yeanah: Never would've thought to look for sold listings, cheers man

Great deal, but suggests to me there are some big price cuts coming. HODL.

I hope so too but it will be Chinese New Year for Taiwan and China mainland in the next couple of weeks. Normally price goes up every years during this time but the demand is quite low this year. So not quite sure about it yet.

Shame it only has 2 DP ports, wonder if we'll see other cards drop a bit too.

  • Damn, missed out

  • Whats the difference between this and 799 ASRock at comcentre https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/828237
They comes with a free game just a week ago.

Asrock is a barebones 7800 XT. This would have better cooling.

      • You get even better cooling by deshrouding it. I did that for my 6800xt and I get way better thermals and a lot quieter.
