Perth has cheap flights to Bali most of the time anyway.

For what it's worth, Virgin has significantly higher cancellations rates than both Qantas and Jetstar, and a significantly lower percentage of flights departing and arriving on time.

      December data:

"The Qantas network (Qantas and QantasLink combined operations) recorded 67.8 per cent for on time arrivals while the Virgin Australia network (Virgin Australia and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines combined operations) recorded 54.0 per cent. Qantas achieved the highest on time arrivals among the major domestic airlines at 67.8 per cent, followed by Jetstar at 63.0 per cent and Virgin Australia at 53.5 per cent. Of the regional airlines, Skytrans recorded 76.4 per cent for on time arrivals, followed by Rex Airlines at 70.6 per cent, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 71.0 per cent, QantasLink at 67.9 per cent and Bonza at 55.0 per cent.

The Qantas network recorded 69.5 per cent for on time departures while the Virgin Australia network recorded 56.5 per cent. Qantas achieved the highest level of on time departures among the major domestic airlines for December 2023 at 70.2 per cent, followed by Jetstar at 62.1 per cent and Virgin Australia at 56.2 per cent. Of the regional airlines, Skytrans recorded 76.4 per cent for on time departures, followed by Rex Airlines at 74.3 per cent, QantasLink at 69.0 per cent, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 67.4 per cent and Bonza at 52.6 per cent.

Bonza recorded the highest percentage of cancellations at 19.4 per cent during the month, followed by Skytans at 9.0 per cent, Virgin Australia at 7.7 per cent, Jetstar at 5.5 per cent, QantasLink at 4.3 per cent, Qantas at 2.7 per cent, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 2.6 per cent, and Rex Airlines at 0.6 per cent."

Funny what a difference it makes when Qantas isn't selling flights that don't exist.

so what youre saying is australia sucks

I don't understand why Adelaide to Bali is cheaper than Brisbane to Bali, Adelaide is further away from Bali.

    • +1

Because airlines charge what they think people will pay, and Virgin think people will pay more out of BNE

    • +1

Airport taxes, perhaps. Or slot costs for their time of choice for landing/departure.

      • Are there any good flights to Italy? Wanting to go on 26th June to 18th July but I am flexible with dates a couple of days either way.

Cheapest I've found is with $1,538 with China Southern. Happy to either pay less or similar amount with better airline.

As the crow flies, Adl is closer!
      Adl-Dps 3,765km
      Bris-Dps 4,480km

      • Haha it's true that Brisbane seems a lot closer as it's up there and Adelaide is far south ;)

      • The earths rotation!

  • Samoa. Very tempting.

Shame nothing from Melbourne to Samoa though.

bali is now full of traffic, getting anywhere is near impossible at crawling speeds and very easy to get sick, to top it off, you need to pay for a visa at the airport, at one stage it was free, then after covid they reverted that change pretty quickly

    • +1

Is now full of traffic? What time period are you referring to since it was always full of traffic since I've been going from 2015. Is it now worse post pandemic versus pre-pandemic? I haven’t been there since covid but was there regularly beforehand.

      • ive been about 5 times, its worse now..

previously hired a car and drove around no issues, now i wouldn't even dream of it, its grid lock all hours except for 1am-5am.

  • Bugger, no Sydney > Port Vila

  • +1

    Thanks op, booked Bali.

Traffic is very bad but really only if you're in Seminyak, Kuta. The further inland you go the more reasonable traffic is imo. I was in last year and there were no issues

    • agreed, stay up near ubud, everything you need is there.
