WA Scoopon - Bula - Taste of the Pacific All-You-Can-Eat Indian Feast (DISGUSTING)

BE WARNED. This voucher that is selling now at WA Scoopon for All-You-Can-Eat Indian Feast + Drinks! Just $19 for 2 People, $35 for 4 or $49 for 6! at Bula - Taste of the Pacific is not worth buying at all. I have tried to get the refund from Scoopon but was refused the refund. Below is the story of my worst experience with Scoopon voucher! Never again buy any vouchers from group deals website.

Me, Oct 24 13:57 (EST):

I purchased 2 vouchers for 6 people for dine-in at Bula Figian Indian Cuisine but we used 1. The voucher stated that it's all-you-can-eat but when we arrived at the food court at 1200pm, I was told that a few things are not included in this deal (Samosa, Pappadums, seafood) and those food are displayed in the bay marie where other food are being served. These are food that I want to eat and the reason why I bought vouchers for. W ended up having to eat curry which are tasteless, cold and only 3 different curry are available in the bay marie. We were told that we had to wait for 2 hours if we want to have butter chicken as the curry was running out.

This experience is not according to the advertisement by Scoopon and I would like to request for a refund. I have used 1 voucher and another one hasn't been used and I don't think it's worth using.

PS I have noticed there are more vouchers for sale, maybe Scoopon should re-advertisement and incorporate the items that are not included in the voucher in order to avoid false advertisement.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in to us.

We're disappointed to hear that your Bula - Taste of the Pacific experience hasn't gone according to plan. Scoopon aims to only promote Deal Providers who can provide our customers with memorable experiences and exemplary customer service, and we're sorry that Bula - Taste of the Pacific has failed to do so on this occasion.

As all diners' expectations will vary greatly of a deal such as this one, we are unable to guarantee that each customer will be fully satisfied. As such, we are unable to assist with your request for a refund at this time.

Your feedback has been passed onto the Business Development Manager who was working with the deal provider on this deal, along with their Manager, so we can continue to improve the experiences of everyone in the Scoopon Community.

Thank you for taking the time to send in this valuable feedback, and we hope you can have many more enjoyable Scoopon experiences in the future. We're sorry we couldn't give you the outcome that you were looking for today.

Kind regards,

James

I really hope scoopon/cotd go down the gurgler. but they seem to be booming.
Can't believe a business can thrive like that with pretty much zero regard to customer service.
Maybe request a chargeback with your credit card provider or dispute with paypal.
First step would be a complaint to that authority mentioned few times - look in the other forums.

I think fair trading etc should make it harder for these companies to rip you off by enforcing that:
    - these companies have a phone number hotline to lodge complaints (and you talk to a person - no voicemail etc)
    - they have 7 days to fix the complaint.

Beeen here, its horrible, the mans right!

you can say that again, amen!
i got the yellow curry, it tasted like my shit. be warned, do not ever, whatsoever under any circumstances, go to this… this… monstrosity of a "restaurant". Mod: Foul Language yuck.

    • LOL what you doing eating your shit? Drinking your own piss perhaps, but shit c'mon

      • good point, Arse'n'al1

  • We should post bad food comments on Truelocal to warn others since you guys have already tasted this place.

  • That response from Scoopon is appalling, especially not even offering to refund the UNUSED voucher.

What horrible customer service. I pity the fool who uses Scoopon.

  • Dont these business realise that this is KILLING them. groupbuy site offers them a chance to ADVERTISE their business. NOT PROFIT.

  • at least those who bought, should order before they pull out their coupon so they can get the better stuff (not included food) i hope!

  • Yes, I've had plenty of issues with both Scoopon and Living Social. Basically they seem to use the fact that most of their deals aren't worth chasing up with the authorities as a reason to falsely advertise and then not provide refunds. I don't know the complete solution but one cafe I bought a voucher to changed ownership and the new manager flatly refused to honour my voucher, and it was only after I spoke with them 3 times and back to Scoopon 3 times that they agreed to a refund. The manager had told me "Don't worry, they know me there, you tell them I'm not honouring it because I've already told them to get f'd"

They always provide this email as a standard response, I think you really need to hammer them hard and then get fair trading in your state involved. Surely by now FT are onto all these sites, they are constantly lacking in the service dept.

Some other tidbits I've heard are:
-If they sign up a restaurant, the restaurant only gets paid for people that turn up, all the vouchers that lapse the site just keeps the money
-2 Restauranteurs have told me that it's the site that plays hardball due to this, they don't care if you don't get your meal as they make even more money from that, and the manager certainly isn't going to provide you with a meal if they aren't paid (if you're late or you couldn't book due to the fact that capacity had been reached)
-They always respond with this type of standard response, which plays on the 'can't be bothered' attitude of the buyers (as it's usually not more than $35 a hit)

Personally, I think the system is broken. It reminder me of bad health insurance co. tactics: "we just dont' pay them until they force us in court, and people don't have the time or money to win cases when they have cancer shortening their life and savings" (ok it's a bit dramatic, but the same principles at play)

  • Had to register to put in my comment. it's not just Scoopon, Living Social had the same "restaurant" (or should I say food court stall)advertised. It was a the same deal. At least you did not get a rude experience from the owner. I've posted my feedback in UrbanSpoon and yes this place has quite poor ratings. It makes you wonder does all these GroupBuy care about their reputation or not? Obviously not. So far, i had never experience a good food coupon deal from any Groupbuy yet. Groupon is equally bad.
there should be a body to governs these GroupBuys website and ensure they are not doing fake advertising.
I don't think they will last long anyway, the bad feedback increases each day, very soon people will just give up on buying vouchers online.

    • i've bought 6 restaurant deals.
4 were really good - would definitely buy another deal there.
      1 was good.
1 was so-so. it was ok but there are other options

In my experience with Scoopon their level of customer service was disgraceful.

All they ever do is send you a standard generic reply regardless of the situation.

I had countless problems when I was trying to obtaining a refund for a 'Mr Handyman' offer they advertised.
'Mr Handyman' were uncontactable by phone and would never reply to e-mail either.

I was finally refunded after about 3 weeks, but it should never have taken that long.

  • Groupon/Scoopon etc are not that bad, you just need to be critical of the deals and do some research.

With new restaurants you've never eaten at before you're taking a gamble, unless you can find some positive reviews online I wouldn't buy.

This is what I have learnt from my trial and error experience:

    • Read the restaurant review first before buying the group deal vouchers. One good website that I always use is www.urbanspoon.com and I also submit my review for all the restaurants I have been to. I would also encourage everyone to update your review as well to assist others to make their decision.
    • Only buy group deal vouchers where the vendors/service providers are well-recognised and reliable
    • Use entertainment card/voucher instead. Even though it only give you 25% discount but you are guaranteed to receive a full-priced service
    • Read terms and conditions of the deal voucher properly and print the deal's full advertisement and take it with you. The voucher that is sent out to you doesn't necessarily contains all the information of the service that was originally advertised

Any other lesson learnt anyone want to share?
