Low Windshield Water Sensor Warning ASX

How do I reset this by not reaching inside the fender/wheel arc? It's a 2017 model and the inside of that wheel arc is not soft rubber, something like a plastic and just worried i might break it, the reservoir is full, but dashboard warning didn't get reset.
Will disconnecting the battery do the trick? I'm broke so I can't afford a mechanic.

Thanks

  • Driving over some bumps might free it up.

  • I typed your query into Google and found a lot of videos and articles. Something there might help.

    • yes, went through all of them but none related to ASX. There's an outlander there it's also different as they have foldable rubber in the arc, not hard plastic like asx.

      • Your tank is full but there is a malfunction that is causing the warning to appear?

        • yes, either a reset or replacement of that port…

  • Buy yourself an inexpensive OBD2 Bluetooth adapter and wipe the code.

    Worth having one anyway

    • wipe the code in the dashboard? why would i do that if all info will be wiped?

Won't work, as cheap obd readers will only communicate with the engine, not any of the body systems. In addition, op likely simply has a stuck float, a windscreen washer warning is not something that needs resetting.

  • Your float is likely stuck, can you see inside the reservoir from the full point, or does it go down a windy neck to inside the guard?

    • it's a windy neck of rabbit hole not sure how deep…

      • Then you will need to get to the sensor and remove it, then clean and reinstall. Or if you don't care that much about having the car tell you when your washer water is low, cut and join together, or cut and seal apart, the wires that go to it, depending on whether it is a Normally Open or Normally Closed switch.

        • Is it easy to open that fender wheel arc in an ASX, or do I need to remove the whole plastic arc? I don't want to start disassembling then find out can't put them back together, lol

          • @transplanted: Generally you'd remove the arch liner (plastic arc). It's normally very easy.

Here's a novel idea. When windscreen water/cleaner doesn't spray from the nozzles, refill the bottle. Works for me.

I don't think you've actually read the post.

    • Useless

Stuff your garden hose (without attachments) into the windscreen washer reservoir as far as it will go. Turn on full blast for 30 seconds in an attempt to dislodge any debris or a stuck sensor.

try feeding a hose down the filler and blasting the daylights out of it. It might free up the sensor.
