First time seeing one of these on AU amazon (for a low price..)
They all seem to be rebrands of each other as there are many of them on ali express.

Several US amazon ones were tested on servethehome youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdLWAwxU0ds
see the description links for the YuanLey, and Davuaz branded ones that are near identical
thou with the vlan switch the Vimin is closer spec wise.

no mention about it not being a AU plug (worryingly no mention it has a plugpack)
also listed as 10grams :(
edit: confirmed in comments its AU plug and also not a 10gram photo

First deal post be kind :-)

    • Luckily power plug is a 12v barrel jack.

Easily available on ebay or everyones junk drawer. Lol.

      • One aliexpress switch I have works with 2.1mm internal diameter barrel jack, the other one requires 2.5mm internal.

So you need to know which before buying a replacement.

Got links to the POE versions?

These would be GREAT for a little switch for a bunch of Access points in a home.

  • Happy with my keeplink, but only 1 SFP

  • bought a similar one on ebay 15 months ago for 175… sigh

I bought a 386sx just 33 years ago for $1000. I guess we both should have waited.

  • hi, i am totally novice on this item, can i use this to link between my PC and Synology DS920+ in order to get a 10GBe, so i can directly edit my video footage on premiere pro that store in the synology DS920

As my understanding DS920 doesnt support 10Gbe

    • Best case is 2.5GbE with a compatible USB to Ethernet adapter and the community driver.

Some say they have done 5GbE but you typically can't get max throughput via the USB3 port for 5GbE anyway..

      • Some say they have done 5GbE but you typically can't get max throughput via the USB3 port for 5GbE anyway

You can connect at 5GbE with a 5GbE adapter plugged into a 5 Gb/s USB3 port, but you can only get about 3.5 Gb/s throughput. Overhead uses up some of the available bandwidth. If and when there any 5GbE adapters out there that can use a 10 Gb/s USB3 port, you could get a full 5 GbE throughput on them.

    • This switch is equipped with four 2.5Gb RJ45 ethernet ports and two 10Gb SFP ports (fiber/RJ45), representing the maximum achievable speed on each specific port. It is important to note that for the maximum speed to be realized, the other end device must also have compatible hardware. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the connection defaulting to the lower speed. For example, if you connect the 2.5Gb RJ45 port of the switch to a Synology device with a 1Gb RJ45 port, the maximum speed achievable between these two devices will be limited to 1Gb. I hope this clarifies the functionality.

  • Does this have virus?

      Yes wear a condom

      • Virus protector?

  • This seems like the place to ask - I have a quote from a data cables to run a bunch of CAT6 around the house.
Is CAT6 the best option? I have gigabit NBN.
Some things I read said it did 1Gbps, others said it'll do 10Gbps.

Its a matter of distance. Cables are normally rated at at what speed they can carry 100 metres. But if you don't need to go 100 metres you may be able to get by with a lower rated cable.

Cat 6 will do 10 gigabits up to 50 metres. It won't do it to 100 metres.

Domestic premises don't normally have cable distances even close to 100 metres.

      • Yeah definitely won't be over 50m

        • +1

We use a Fluke meter to test all of our data runs. We use Cat6 for data and Cat5E for CCTV. Usually a maximum of 30m runs. The Cat5E runs almost always test at 10Gbps, but occasionally only to 5Gbps. The Cat6 basically always test at 10Gbps. The meter tops out at 10Gbps so I dont know what the max speed of the cable runs are. Just the minimum.

  • whats the use of sfp port?

    • +1

Small form-factor pluggable. You can change the interface to suit your needs. It might be copper ethernet, multi-mode fibre, single mode at 1310nm, etc.

    • The title on Amazon is incorrect as they are SFP+ ports.

      All the good info here.

      • Thanks, if I buy sfp Ethernet adapters, I can make this as a 6 port switch?

        • +2

looking at the prices on amazon for the 10Gbps SFP+ port to RJ45 adapters, it'd looks like it'd be cheaper to buy 2 of this switch and 1 x SFP+ to SFP+ connector if all you want is more ports at 2.5Gbps speeds. that would give you 8x2.5Gbps and 2 spare SFP ports to expand again.

    • you can buy a 1-3m direct attached sfp+ 10gb cable for under $30 and link 2 of these together
or get a cheap copper gigabit one to save a 2.5gb port

I looked on amazon but sfp compatibility scares me to recommend one
and amazons all look expensive to the ali ones for $7 or less

    Bought one..

Came with AU plug… Using with SFP+ 10g fiber and 2.5g ethernet. Works well.

The next cheapest router is the QNAP QSW-2104-2S which is almost 3x the price….

So was worth a try… so far so good.

the only issue in reviews (of similar ones) seems to be how toasty it runs
performance wise id say they do whats on the tin
and its only a matter of time until name brands roll one out
(holding back for now to not undercut their "enterprise" gear)
