    It looks heavy.

    • This is heavy.
Importantly though it does include fax capability for important job status updates.

      • Thanks

  • How much will be surcharge for credit card?
I believe Amazon has no surcharge for credit card and no delivery charge.

    • This is much better for people in WA. Otherwise delivery of $66 goes onto the $499 price for the pricebeat.

  • Can third party toner be use with this firmware?

    • Can you find any 3rd party toner to use?

It seems that this printer and it's cartridge (TN258) was only released late last year. As far as I can find, no one makes a compatible cartridge yet.

A full set of OEM carts cost $540 at OW.

      • +1

Geez it's bad when a full set of toner cartridges costs more than the printer itself. This printer clearly wasn't designed for home users in mind. Home users couldn't fork out $540 for a set of printer cartridges that's just insane.

  • Good price if you can get the price beat at OW. Make sure to use the Amazon price as that includes delivery.

  • Bloody hell, dearer than the 3770 if I want duplex scanning, and no cheap toner. Thanks Brother.

    • Keen to find a 3770- where have you seen this cheaper?

      • +1

The 3770 has been replaced by the 3780, which has very similar specs to OP's 8390, but with different toner cartridges.

MSY had the 3770 at $499, but are OOS. I think Brother are clearing out the old models in favour of the new more profitable (because of lack of clone cartridges) models.

        • Thanks Chris- great info. It seems the 3780 isn’t in Aus yet.
Agree toners are expensive - hoping to see some clones for this 8390 soon.

  • Even just comparing genuine toner this series seems expensive:

    Brother TN258BK 1000 pages $130 ish
    Brother TN258XLBK 3000 pages $180 ish

    meanwhile Kyocera TK5244-K 4000 pages $130 ish
