how does this thing charge? wheres the battery?

There is a micro usb socket on the end of one of the earphones. The battery is inside. I just picked one up from JB on Monday. Good thing I had some gift cards to use up!

The batteries inside the earphone, not too big, so only lasts about 4 hours.
You can charge this with any micro 5-pin charger that most of the Android phones use

I have one of these and it's great (with a few issues)

    The good:

    • Small, great for travel
    • Easy to setup … I didn't bother to read the manual, just pressed the likely buttons
    • Good audio quality
    • Nice 'tacky' rubber cover so it won't slip off your shoulders

    The bad:

    • It's small, it has a small battery, so it has a small battery life (4-6) hours. Suits me, but it may not suit you.
    • BIG PAIN - only associates with one bluetooth device. You can't have it connected to your PC and your phone at the same time. Come on Plantronics, this is the 21st century. My $20 yum-cha Chinese headset dos this.

All in all a great headset, one which I recommend.

  • Was thinking of getting it for music during workouts, but reviews suggest otherwise (6.0 score CNET)

any recommendation for good bluetooth headphones/earphones during workouts ?

    • Backbeat 903+ if you don't wear glasses

    • The only con in their review was that the sound was flat.

That was my first impression when I tried them, but I'm a longtime in-ear monitor user, so I was aware that a poor seal would make it sound flat with no bass.

I went through all the 3 tip sizes and found one that fit my ears with a good seal. It improved the sound tremendously - I think it sounds great for bluetooth earphones now.

  • I ended up with the Ariva Leo. I like them but suffer from the same issues that papafox described above. Big plus is the water resistance.

    • Interestingly, the US site states the Backbeat is sweat and moisture-resistant:
      http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/backbeat-go

I went with the Plantronics as I intend to use it for walking and cycling, where I only want one ear plugged in. The behind-the-near ones need both ears, and many of the other in-ear ones are large, like the Jaybird Freedom Sprint.

      • Yes, i have actually used this model when i was jogging, running and working out and worked fine.

  • Where are you getting $65.88 shipped? For 70.02 USD, PayPal's currency converter is giving me:

    69.95 AUD (1 AUD = 1.00105 USD)

    • Lol, the ebay conversion said 65.88 for me before.
