  • I have a laptop 3070 driving a 27" 1440p monitor. Would having this monitor result in a significant frame-rate drop for games given the vertical resolution is the same?

    • If it’s more pixels total than the laptop screen it will reduce the fps as the graphics is working harder. Whether it matters depends on the percentage difference.

    • Shouldn't be significant but if there any games that are borderline unplayable ATM will probably get worse.

    • If you wanted something bigger than the 27" but keep same performance than 32" is always nice

    • ~20% drop

    • The resolution is an increase of +34% pixels.

I've been keeping an eye out for something similar but with USB-C and PD - kinda crazy how much extra cost one feature seems to add

    • I picked up a USBC PD dock from cash converters yesterday for $60.

    • There’s a Philips one at Officeworks with 65W PD for $457 at the moment, definitely worth a look.

    100hz no deal

prefer 60? I can respect that

    Normally $399

    • What's wrong with it? That seems cheap for the specs.

Where from? This monitor didn't move in price for months then went to $447 at officeworks now this price.

  • Was considering the Dell S2722QC for home office use (Macbook Pro)
The Dell has 4k, USB-C vs this Samsung with an ultra-wide screen but not as good resolution.
I guess it's partly personal preference but anyone have any views?

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/819813 If you are considering both I'd recommend this one. USB C is power pass through only though doesn't seem like it has display functions.

doesn't seem like it has display functions.

Are you sure about that? A quick read of the manual suggested USB-C as a display input (but maybe I've mis-read)?

Oh maybe it does I hadn't checked the email just online, someone mentioned in another post it actually has a 75hz mode too but can't confirm.

I had the Lenovo. It does display and power pass through.

I have a 34" ViewFinity S65U and 27inch Dell 4k usb c monitor as well. I like the ultra wide for work as it got more space to work and however not great for watching vidoes , the black on ultra wide is dark grey and colours seems washed out. On other hand , Dell 4k is overall a better one . i always goes back to my dell when watching netflix. Hope this helps.

What do people think as a comparison between this AOC one, I'm assuming samsung panel better in some ways?

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/34-inch-and-abo…

    • +1

After comparing the two I think the AOC wins. Higher refresh rate, better advertised response time, higher contrast ratio, similar colour accuracy. On Rtings the AOC is said to suffer from black smearing but cant find much on the Samsung so hard to say if its the same case.

  • why they cannot put 4K on ultra wide curve screen? i would like that so much for productivity only (so no need fancy stuffs like 200Hz etc) - just real estate

  • +1

Buying a 34inch widescreen that isn't curved is insane. Talk about eye strain.

I’m looking for a display with usbc that can also power my MacBook. Curved would be nice. Any recommendations?
