eBay Refusing to Provide Their Business Details

The business who is refusing to provide details…. is eBay itself.

I am trying to file a dispute to Fair Trading NSW for being charged for eBay plus subscription when I was offered a free trial on the banner. I did use my free trial years ago, and the terms and conditions specify that you can use the free trial only once.

However the button I pressed says "Start 30-day free trial", not "sign up for eBay Plus and pay immediately", I don't think anyone would think it would be reasonable to confirm subscription and process payment in such fashion.

Their rep denied refund pointing at their terms and conditions, so I decided to lodge a dispute. I need ABN/ACN and their address to do this, and customer representative refused to provide these details for "due to security reason". Is this even legal?

I have looked up eBay inc from ABN/ACN register, there are so many similar entities, so I am confused.
What I see in emails I receive from them, is an overseas address, should I put it in the dispute form?

Thanks in advance.

Perfect, as there are plenty of entitled people here who don't read the terms and conditions.

O.P. "Found loop hole for free stuff."
eBay T&Cs: " Not like that. Bill for $."
O.P. "Fair Trade here I come!"
Narrator: " There was no loop hole, LOL."

I hope Fair Trading fines you for pressing a button you weren't eligible for šŸ˜‚

    • It's true that op should not be eligible anyway.

3.4. There is a maximum of one free 30-day trial of eBay Plus per eBay member. You may not use or create another eBay account in order to take advantage of the free 30-day trial more than once.

    You're a joke OP.

Honestly…. mind boggling you would even post this without shame.

I kind of empathise with OP - I've done the same thing with a different service once before when I forgot I had used it previously.

I don't think resuming a service from a trial button is entirely ethical.

what actually happens in ebay is when you go past that "trial button" - it tells you that you will be charged at the full rate as it knows you have done a trial before.

I have clicked on it before forgetting that I have trialed also but very quickly was reminded as I bothered to read.

  • Fairwork won't help you….

Also you don't pay immediately if you press the banner. There's at least 2 clicks before paying.

    • Fairwork

I had to work 1.6 hours to pay for this. I want my money back.

The button finalising the process is labeled as ā€œstart 30-day free trialā€. It should not start a subscription if the free trial is invalid imo, but that’s just my opinion and maybe they have the right to charge me straight away because the free trial is already used :)
I would find it strange if this makes any sense legally, but that’s just my sentiment.
I will update when there is an outcome.
