These have been jacked for a while but was in Aldi today & noticed they have dropped down to $11.99.
Lazzio print the roast date on the pack as you can see in this old pic.

What grinder do you have? Machine will perform based on grind size rather than the type of coffee.
Plus extraction time and puck distribution. But I agree that the setup of the grinder and machine can make an insane difference in taste
Just a reminder to check the roast date - just read it backwards yyyy/mm/dd.
If you can score a bag roasted in the last 2 weeks it makes a big difference. 3 weeks is ok if you go through it pretty quick or maybe freeze half to stretch it out. After 4 weeks they start going down hill through to about 6 weeks. You can still use them after that of course (I certainly do) but you start looking forward to a new bag and will be finding shots are getting really consistent. I drink black, no sugar but might start making caps, lattes etc at this point to smooth it out.
It can vary a lot depending on how fast the store turns over stock. I scored a bag roasted on 17th on the 24th which is only 1 week. The lux branded one (purple bag) was 7th July which was pretty good too. The Columbia/Brazil was 3rd and medium was unfortunately mid June.
I like them all once you dial in the grind and weight for each shot - they vary a lot, so be patient and don't blame the beans straight up. I think the medium are best taste to $ spent if they are all roasted around the same date and prefer being able to buy in 500g lots.
Life is way too short for crap coffee, I think that aldi beans are on a par with international roast!
If you must go budget I would recommend Sicilia coffee for sub $20/kg

Airjo and Inglewood often have deals on OB in the $30 region and both produce excellent coffee roasts.
International roast.. c'mon lol. Even Moccona is 10x better than that!
Wasn't impressed by the Inglewood stuff I got. My fav is still LimeBlue Brazil São Paulo Single Origin - 40% off at the moment. The 1kg bags freeze well (5kg for free shipping).
These vac containers are good, had mine for a year but they were $23 prime day

edit: meant 5x 500g = 2.5kg for $75 (& free shipping)
Have tried Aldi beans and they are mid.
Guys dumb question, but we have a delonghi magnifica a at work which makes great coffee. However I can't justify buying a machine to keep at home just for weekend use.
So can I get these beans and crush it manually somehow and make a cup of coffee with that? How much do I need for one shot?
There are many brew methods, if you are into espresso, you can try a manual grinder + moka pot. Or just get a capsule machine.
Remember to get a coffee grinder, not a spice grinder, coffee beans are much denser and harder than herbs and spices.
High quality manual grinders can be quite costly, but there are less costly options.
I use this Kmart coffee grinder. It's good enough for my AreoPress. The model looks a little different to mine, but it's mostly the same.
It's also okay for grinding McKenzie's Blended Whole Peppercorns (contains black, white, green and red pepper). I can't get it to grind pepper to a fine powder but it's close enough.
I'm glad that one works for you, that is the main thing.
I think one of the cheaper manual burr grinders should do a better job than that one.
Takes less than a minute to do and easy cleaning too.

No stock.
@BluebirdV: Delivered 29th July for me, probably bit longer, but in stock for Qld it seems.
Try this one, possibly even better value.

Nice coffee. Be mindful how you store the beans.
Tried the medium, dark, Columbia and Brazil. Recommend the Brazil as it's worth it.
I can’t taste the difference between Columbia and Brazil
You mean Colombia.
Yeah potato potatoe
Agreed, Brazil is great. Worth the extra few dollars.
Unfortunately, if I feed dark roast to df83, it f'ing chokes and then 2 to 3 hours to clean it to make it work again 😂
How does that work? Dark roasts are easier to grind than light.
They're oily, clogs the chute. My Specialita never struggled with dark roast, so I use Df83 for light and medium only
Interesting, could be static buildup. Have you tried lightly spraying the beans with water before grinding?
@mielieu: I always do and there is a plasma generator inside df83 chute, it simply doesn't like dark roast, shiny oily beans lol
I got lucky today, Maitland Aldi had bags of dark beans, roasted only 10 days ago.
No 1KG in the store I went to on Thursday, only 500g.
Really been struggling to find any coffee roasted in the last 6 weeks or so from my local Aldi's recently.
Mostly roasted in November. Used to be able to easily find within the month.
Its almost like they had a break over Christmas?
That's fair. But it's been an issue at my stores since before the Christmas break.
But maybe that's the explanation more recently.
No. I bought a bag with a roast date of 250102
In my local Aldi they store coffee beans next to the fridge so that the shelf of coffee faces the fridge. Is moisture a problem?
I'm interested as a pending new user - my gold Lavazza 500-1000gm shrink packs having just run out as no longer seen on special at Coles World Square Sydney, I'm about to start my first Aldi Lazzio Medium 100% Arabica Coffee Ground 500g pack for my home filter paper cone drip coffee - not yet opened as the last of my Lavazza dwindles …
I see a small circle near the top front centre - is that a nitrogen injection valve to keep the coffee oxygen-free inert fresher for longer ?
'PEEL AND RESEAL' sticker - don't yet know how to use that …
Date on the side top 'BEST BEFORE 20 MAR 2026 B241220 12:50' - I interpret to mean it was roasted (in Melbourne the pack says) on 12 Dec 2024 and they note the best before date as 15 months after roasting ?
Never had it before - but after reading some consumer taste test recently saying Aldi coffee was The Deal, here I am - about to take the plunger !
(or filter paper)
I didn't see any other variety but seeing the recommendations for Colombia or Brazil, I'll look for those on subsequent trips to the Aldi-verse
You won't be disappointed unless you're a brand whore.
Be nice if the Medium also went back down to $11.99 like it used to be.
Yeah that was a bargain. Still cheap for another dollar or two over a kg compared to most stuff that is $40-50/kg.
Yeah, agree. About to grab another Kilo, have been an early adopter from around 12-14 years ago.
Yes I've also recommended that here
