Cheap and Simple Car BT Handsfree for Elderly Person

Hello all. First time OB forum user so be gentle.

I'm after a bluetooth handsfree unit for a technically challenged older person. I see a heap on ebay that seem to operate through the tuner for sound and I'm guessing they have an inbuilt mike.
None of them look overly simple.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Ebay or Amazon?

I'd prefer as little wiring as possible, no battery to charge and as little thinking required from a user perspective.
TIA

Sorry about that. Please accept my apologies.

    • All good. No need to apologise but thanks anyway. Yes that was a rookie mistake on my part. Hoping to get something of reasonable quality b/w $50 to $100

    No it isn’t

    • Really? Maybe I mean first time posting a question. I'll have to check

Sheesh. Ok 2nd time. Totally forgot about that one. I did get some great advice.

If you really want easy to use, get a new head unit from a reputable brand. No mess, no fuss, should work without any hassle for along time.

On a side note, do you really want the elderly person to be talking on the phone while they are driving? It’s a serious distraction for drivers and elderly drivers are already over represented in crashes.

    • I hear you and totally agree. She's not that ancient. 65 I'm guessing. No signs of damage to her car and not old enough to get the pedals mixed up or anything. Maybe I should have described her age differently.

Yes an aftermarket head unit would be the go but I'd end up having to fit it.

  • this one for $21.45 is very easy to use. just pair with the phone and plug in to the cigarette lighter

    • Cheers mate. I hadnt seen that style. It reminds me of my old blueant. All I was seeing on ebay was the fm versions that plug into the cigarette lighter.

I'd prefer something that turned on and off with the ignition.. I can see her leaving it on then leaving the car and have it hijack her calls or just going flat because she left it on and didn't recharge it. A wired version of this without the battery would work but they probably don't exist.

Just tape the phone to their head

  • A cheap sat nav might do the trick. They pair automatically and are pretty clear.

Cheers. I didnt think of that. I have a few floating around but never used them for calls.
