The colour is a deep blue/black/red. On the nose there is briar berry compote, blueberry pie, liquorice spice, brown cane sugar and dark cherry - all wrapped up with a ribbon of toasty French oak. On the palate, the wine is juicy and plush with attractive structural tannins, a soft oak framework and abundant blackberry, raspberry, plum, and blueberry fruit. Full-bodied, the fruit and spice components culminate to deliver a tasting experience that is robust but refined.

Ethereal, fresh, appealing to both the nose and the palate, Pédesclaux’s second wine is a flower that unfurls as you approach. Thanks to its reliance on a high proportion of Merlot, the wine is soft and gentle, with a delicious, silky texture. It has intense, compelling and savoury fruit aromas and, year after year, beautifully calibrated scents of white flowers, violets and small red berries. Exhibiting a more high-spirited elegance yet nonetheless showing remarkable length, Fleur de Pédesclaux is a delight. In the mouth, it is fresh, subtle, packed with fruit and beautifully smooth tannins, with a long finish. In this more floral expression, the marvellous complexity of our terroir is once again evident, but in a mouth-watering style that is instantly festive.

Château Gruaud-Larose's second wine, Sarget combines finesse and balance. It enjoys the same care as the great wine, and is very charming. Currently, the tannins are proving to be milder and less coarse. Their colour is almost black, and they present powerful aromas of red fruit. On the palate, they reveal themselves to be creamy, full-bodied and rich.

This single clone 777 Pinot Noir was hand picked and fermented in our large French oak cuve from Tonnellerie Rousseau in Gevery-Chambertin, before spending 10 months in small Burgundian barrels. We only make this stand alone colonal wine in exceptional years to showcase our vineyard, vines and people. Certified Organic.
