thanks
anyone's idea on whether this machine would run faster than a Galaxy S2 or 3?
It's definitely slower than the s3, on par with s2.
I don't get why they call it tab2 when its worse than the first generation galaxy tabs
The original Tab 7 / Tab 7 Plus were better, but also a lot more expensive. Maybe there just isn't a market for premium 7" tablets
Edit: De-trolled.
It's called the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 because it was the refresh to the original Galaxy Tab (P1000), which was a single-core device.

Admittedly, Samsung's naming convention isn't very straight forward, especially for those who don't have an active interest in their phone/tablet product range.
Yes, it was refresh and downgraded in some aspects for those unaware.
Only advantage in so called Tab2 was additional core, but it lacked the full mobile phone (yes original tab p1000 can make normal calls) + 3G sim card access has 16gb + has flash on the back as well, this is the Budget version and you are better buying the Nexus.I loved my original tab and was disappointed to learn it's replacement had the same old resolution screen. so went with Nexus 7 instead. made the right decision as screen is gorgeous, and it's quad core too with powerful graphics
Does the Tab 2 10" also suck compared to Tab 1 10"?
Slower than both. 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 in this vs 1.4GHz Exynos 4 in the S2. Also much weaker GPU pushing more pixels.
Wait for the price drop of Nexus 7.
Next week most likely (October 29th in the US).
Ainol Fire lot better specs and price.
Apart from sd card slot and slight price difference, nexus 7 is way better in every way. Irrespective its not a good time to buy a tablet.
