    Still not going to watch.

      • it's way much better. But still doesn't justify why only women's soccer made to be free here

        • +22

It's quite clear why they're making it free and if you can't understand that then that's on you.

        • maybe you're used to watch local men's football (which is quite lame) but like someone said, if you can't understand why this is free then that's on you :D

          • +1

            @ExeGNR:

if you can't understand why this is free then that's on you :D

brother/sister/non-binary, I already explained why above.

@Taro Milk Tea: yeah I'm not sure what's your point here mate but go ahead and enjoy asian footlball level

        • -3

Men's soccer is boring AF. Don't care how popular it is in the third world

          • @Oxenfree123: @Oxenfree123 first stop calling it soccer, then it will get interesting ..

          • +4

@Oxenfree123: I wasn't aware that basically the whole world was the third world except for Australia and their universally beloved AFL that's played nowhere but Australia…

            • @Xianese: Sorry, the Third-World plus Europe.

In which other developed countries is soccer the national sport?

    • -7

Seems like a waste of money and resources for DAZN to even bother attempting to broadcast this school kids level rubbish.

I could trade hilarious clips of male players screwing up all day long. End of the day, you're just being sexist.

          • +1

@Xianese: It's not sexist, it's just reality. Women are better at some things men are better at others.

            • +2

@Bdawg: finally someone with some senses

            • -5

              @Bdawg:

Women are better at some things men are better at others

Soccer is where women are better. Male soccer is geo-biased - just look at how many teams from Europe and South America are allowed in the World Cup.

              • +5

                @z28: Thanks for the laugh.

oh no wonder their salaries are way lower than men's….thanks for the fact

You're welcome to think that Women's sport isn't as good or as entertaining as the Men's, but it's pretty fragile to take the time to point that out in a post promoting the game. Plenty of people will find this post useful; I know my daughter has more interest in watching the women's Football teams than the men's for example.

    Let people enjoy things.

    • -3

They provoked this reaction with players and the media making ridiculous equal pay demands and politicising the sport.

  • +3

    Thanks OP

  • +3

    thank you OP

  • +3

Warning: I watched 30 minutes of this and my hair turned purple

  • +3

Free isn't cheap enough to watch that.

  • +2

Wouldn't watch even if you paid me to. Sorry!

  • +16

Weird how many people are in here saying they wouldn't watch it, its not like anyone is asking you to, no one cares. For those of us who will watch, great we get more content for free.

And for those who aren't going to watch it, weird you feel so insecure that you have to come in here and post about it but hey, you do you.

Anyway thanks OP, its hard enough trying to watch all the football already since its spread across so many streaming platforms so at least we get something for free.

Attended a womens' fixture recently and quite enjoyed it.

Family-friendly atmosphere. It was a smaller ground, bit more intimate, grassy verges for the kids to play around on and have a kick about. Different crowd from a mens' fixture, a bit older, less singles and more families. Easy to get in and out.

Players were very accessible, had no issues interacting with the crowd. The fact that its basically a "safer" crowd obviously encourages this. The regulars all seemed to know each other and it was a nice social occasion.

Completely different atmosphere from the mens matches with the supporters groups screaming at each other. Obviously that makes it more of a charged atmosphere. You're not going to see opposing supporters knocking the snot out of each other at a womens' match. Was nice to relax with the kids in the knowledge that there's not going to be a crowd incident.

Standard of play was okay, but hampered by injuries. The injury toll is larger compared with the mens game. Players were getting strapped left right and centre, all the talk around the ground was about that person's ACL and that other person's ankle. Its a bit like watching women's tennis, you're not going to see the same raw power, but the sense of touch and technique was still there.

    • +3

We need more people like you on the interwebz. Love your comment / review!

    • What you are describing regarding the crowd is the difference between local club level and professional sport, not men's and women's sport.

you're not going to see the same raw power, but the sense of touch and technique was still there.

The women's game also lacks the latter.

      • There is plenty of professional women's sport including football, I don't know of any with ultras sections that get violent. I don't think the distinction you're making is fair.

Meanwhile there are lower tier men's football clubs in Australia with large Nazi supporter bases.

I thought about that on the way home. Would it have been the same as attending an NPL game?

In some ways yes. We were at a stadium that normally hosts NPL games.

In some ways definitely not. I havent attended an NPL game in a fair while, but in many ways the crowds were not much better. Still a lot of screaming abuse at the officials. A lot of clubs didnt really follow the rules around alcohol very vigilantly, at least that was my experience.

Its basically a more wholesome atmosphere, if I can put it that way. Advertisers are obviously very keen as they had people at the ground handing out swag, which the kids particularly enjoyed.

Honestly, if you've got young children, its not a bad outing.

    • If you go to a 2nd or lower league match league game anywhere in Europe you’d get the same, what exactly is your point?

      “haha smaller fanbase is better”

      • +1

Lol are people not allowed to talk about their own relevant experiences in a comment?

  • +8

Jeez, this really brought out the "they're all lesbians and leftists" crowd, hey? eyeroll

Great initiative, but unfortunately couldn't register initially.
Tried another browser and it worked.

(edited to reflect subsequent registration success)

    Sounds painful

Why is ozbargain full of (profanity)?

How does someone with a vagina playing football actually impact their lives?

    Cheers op

  • This isn't right - I was lectured by so many during the women's world cup that women's soccer needs to be supported.

Surely they have all elected to purchase PAID viewing services to support their athletes? Surely they haven't stopped watching after the tournament (if they even viewed a single game at all?)

  • The people complaining about because it’s women’s football remind me of the one kid at the end of the SNL sketch “Wells for Boys” with the baseball cap. (1min 30 Secs). https://youtu.be/BONhk-hbiXk?si=HWePmPoPTIhJGT5M
