American cartoon, so American spelling tolerated in this case.

Could be a political cartoon of the next Liberal Party caucus.

Sorry to say but JV is right.

Thought the deal was for a Gateway PC.

Haha awesome. I love the dude recreating it.

        yeah I lolled
I think the best part of it is the glimpse into 90s life - that a crap single panel somehow caused an uproar

        • Now it's all influencers and tiktokers, banal life hacks and people getting 'roasted' online for something they did or didn't do on a plane.

    • Vorshtein?

  • +3

Reminds me of every very dental surgery from the 90s

  • +3

That's actually pretty tempting, but I have so much crap stuff already.

    • +10

I think it weighs about 5.5kg, so comparable price to lamb chops…

My god, a non eBook Amazon deal…. good thing I was sitting down.

Can't quite find an age rating for this. Is this suitable to gift to a 9 year old?

    • +15

It is all G rated, and I enjoyed these when I was a kid, but they can also be a bit "weird", so judge if your 9yro likes weird humour.

      • +9

I think the off-beat and surreal style of Far Side is great for developing a kid's imagination and wit.

Cartoons like Garfield are quite literal and formulaic, but Far Side is fuel for ideas.

    Along with Footrot Flats ,
    great for kids imagination ..

Make sure to post a deal on any Footrot Flats discounts!

“#1 Best Seller in Erotic Graphic Novels”

    😂

I’m going to buy this, perfect for cold winter nights with a scotch.

  • Are the cartoons in this set coloured in or B&W?

    • Not sure, but I think both. When it was in the newspaper, the daily panel was b&w, then later there was a colour panel on Sundays.

Gary finally gave in (after decades of not wanting his stuff online) and now publishes a handful of the comics online daily, and has even done a few new ones.

  • Did larson get cancelled for some reason?

    • +3

Far from it. He retired from The Far Side at the start of 1995 while he was on top. Long live the king!

    • +1

You're thinking of Scott Adams, the author of the Dilbert comic.

      • I was disappointed to find out he was so pro-Trump.

  • "#1 Best Seller in Erotic Graphic Novels"

Umm….I think something went wrong with Amazon's rating system.

    • +1

What do you mean? I bought it based on that!

This is great value. I can recommend it, I purchased the hard-cover 2 volume edition back in 2020. for over $300 from Amazon US (US$100 + $200.00 shipping, despite getting lost in an AusPost depot for 9 weeks.)

Also consider the hard-cover as it is better bound and more durable than the soft-cover. For me, it was worth the price as this is a beautiful collection of Gary Larson's body of work,

This is my one and only coffee-table book. It never fails to intrigue my guests when the visit by Gary Larson's clever and surreal wit.

Of course, if you truly love his work, you would make the following link your browser's home page
