  • Super Tuesday

    Gotta be a doghwhistle

  • +1

Waiting for the free $10/$15/$20 credits instead

  • Hoping to pick up more of the 10w40 magnatec, but the price has gone back up - Can't have it all :)

    • +3

SCA almost always ensures there are no catalogues active when there is a % off promotion/credit back/etc..

      An OzB'ers worst nightmare

    • Do you find magnatec any good? Mechanic reckons it’s not good as you can never get all the used oil out of engine when doing an oil change due to it sticking around inside due to magnet technology

      • +1

You can never get it all out 100% anyway unless you do a full tear down and put everything through a parts washer.

Magnatec or not, every oil change will leave some behind.

        • So will magnatec leave more behind in the engine than normal oil would or is it about the same?

          • +1

@J B S: The difference would be indeclinable.

          • @J B S: I'm actually not sure if you are being serious. The additives in expensive oils "cling" to parts by forming a thin protective layer.

I think Magnatec marketing has resulted in confusion/misunderstanding.

I ended up picking up Valvoline 10w40 from their clearance section - $40 - 20% cash back -10% through work ($26)

            • @DV0993: So essentially are saying that magnatec doesn’t have magnetic properties it’s just a brand name for a normal oil giving the impression that it sticks to engine parts like a magnet?

              • +1

@J B S: Yes - Ester base oils (in expensive oils like penrite racing, mobil 0w40) have a degree of polarity, meaning they 'cling' to components and form a layer on components. There is no such thing as magnetic oil

  • Does this apply to price match as well?

    • Price Match / Beat is only available until 6pm AEDT as it has to be done online. They have timed this promotion to start as soon as the Price Beat / Match team has stopped - hence, you don't get to double dip (ie. price match + get 20% credit). If you were lucky enough to price match earlier in the day & been given a code, then you might be able to do it but too late now.

  • Kinda annoying they only have the Hi Performance Century battery for my car at $10 more (before discount) than Autobarn has the Ultra High Performance version.

Can't even select the Ultra on special order.

  • +2

I used to find supercheap well cheap, but lately Repco seems to have better deals at least in my experience with car care stuff

  • Nothing special …All prices seems 30%-40% more when normal special kicks in.

  • Not very good unless you need something now as the credit only last 4 weeks, and most normal discount specials are between 20% and some up to 50% off.

Add items to your wishlist then check the price there every week. If you want something that doesn't get picked for specials then wait for the 1 or 2 day storewide sales, sign up to their newsletter to be notified. They usually occur on Fridays & Saturdays and possibly around public holidays.

I special ordered the Gulf Western 5L Dot 4 brake fluid on boxing day sitewide sale with click and collect, they didn't charge extra for special order or for it to be shipped to store. It was a good deal.

  • How quick is this credit arriving ? Have you got yours ? I bought the $80 oricom walkie talkies on Tue but nothing in credit ? maybe this excluded clearance items ????
