Plenty more cameras, doorbells and bundles on sale on the page, including the newer 180 degree Duo 2 at $197.59, was $259.99. Or a Trail Camera if that's your thing, $360.79 down from $439.99.

I have a Reolink system and it's great.

Edit: removed expiry as it seems to give you a countdown to midnight each day. I assume this may run until Australia Day given it's an Aus Day sale but it's not specified anywhere I can see.

  • Which cameras do you have?

I've been pretty happy with the Reolinks and use them to monitor family members' houses as well as my own:

My place: Lumus, 2 x Duo, WiFi Doorbell
      My mother's place: Trackmix WiFi
      My grandmother's place:RLC-511WA, Argus 3 Pro

@shap08 I have the RLC-810A mostly, but I got one 811A at the front of the house because it has a spotlight that can be remotely turned on :)

There are newer models since I got mine, and the Duo ones look good because otherwise you often get blind spots between cameras that face opposite ways.

    • I have a mix of 520A and Duo 2 cameras, plus PoE doorbell. They're rock solid, including the person and vehicle detection alerts.

My brother's place, and my parent's place, and several friend's places, all have Reolink bundles (NVR + 4-8 x 820A cameras) on my recommendation. I've heard zero complaints so far.

If the added solar panel is swaying you, just an FYI that you can get 2-packs of these style panels on Temu for just above $20.

This same camera is available for $160 on Amazon minus 15% - so $135 without solar panel worth ~$10

  • I'm assuming you just use an SD card in these to record and have them hooked up to wifi to either view live or look at what's on the SD card?
If so are the SD cards secured more than just a push spring to remove?
Thinking this stile might be a better option instead of going to the trouble to wire up a full setup with NVR.

Yep, just insert an SD card, or use the ReoLink cloud service, which is free for a single camera.
Note that the Argus series are not full-time cameras. They use IR to monitor for movement, and when detected, switch on the camera. I have found them to be OK but not ideal for recording in outdoor areas. Many of my recordings miss the initial 1-2 seconds of movement. But the solar panel works very well, and they provide a level of coverage for remote or isolated sights where power is not available, and the wifi range is good for a cheap camera.

      • Okay thanks for that. Wouldn’t you just open a few accounts to get the free cloud per camera?
I’d be okay with missing the first 2 seconds. The bigger concern would be missing things completely.
If you logon remotely to view live footage does it automatically record while you are viewing regardless of movement?

You could set up multiple accounts to get free cloud access, but you can only connect the mobile/desktop app to one account. You can view cloud recordings through the website using a browser, but I think you have to use the app to view recordings on the SD card.
The recordings seem to work well for movement within 10m of the camera, but are less successful further away. My camera will often miss cars driving 15-20m away, and only pick them up when they are around 10m. But it reliably records small animals 5m away.
I don't think it always records when logged in remotely - I think it just works as normal (i.e. record only movement). But it does keep the camera and wifi awake when you are logged in remotely, using more battery power. I've never had problems with the battery going flat - the solar panel is plenty to keep it almost fully charged.

Good deal, found this on mydeal $151.99 and using code stocktake you get another $10 off bringing it down to $141.99. Link is here, seems for https://www.mydeal.com.au/reolink-spotlight-security-camera-…

  • How does the spotlight work on the camera ? Is it still through POE ? or it needs a DC supply ?
    thanks

    • Mine's POE but I'm pretty sure they all have versions with a power cable too.
There is an icon on the app when you're viewing that camera to turn on the light.
