Won’t include Warrnambool as they never participate in Village promotions

    • +4

The way that I read it is that the base of the container needs to be smaller than 50cm x 50cm. So could bring a box that is 50cm x 50cm but can be 2m tall

        • +1

I'm not a village rep though, so don't hold me to that. And wouldn't be surprised if they reject something too big as being "unreasonable" 😂

      • but can be 2m tall

        I like your thinking

      • +11

If you manage to get a 50cm x 50cm x 50cm tub that they'll accept, and assuming a density 0.03 g/cm³ for popped popcorn (lower-end estimate, likely denser after butter), that box would hold 3.75kg of popcorn. Make that box 2m tall and you'll be lifting 15kg of popcorn. Please post pics.

Single-handedly proving that math is useful outside of school

This is the terms and conditions
This offer is only valid on 19 January 2024. Price will be $10 regardless of size of vessel. Vessel must be under 50cm Long x 50cm Wide x 50cm Height. Vessel must be
food safe and clean. Staff have the right to decline any vessels they deem are not food safe or fit the required measurements. You must be a Vrewards member to participate in this promotion.

        • Oh lol. Poor from them to not mention the height restrictions either. They also put in their Facebook at "bring the washing basket", which I think you'd find very difficult to fit in 50cm x 50cm x 50cm

          • @nicholasv:

"bring the washing basket", which I think you'd find very difficult to fit in 50cm x 50cm x 50cm

Marketing teams don't normally think things through.

          • @nicholasv: my washing basket is < 50 x50

eg like these wicker woven things are more than adequate for a trip to the machine in the house.
            Hamper Cotton Rope Baskets

            • @cski: Hope your clothes don't get buttery after you're done with it

              • @nicholasv: technically it will fail the food safe requirement, because edible panties dont tend to be suitable for the laundry basket

      • If you read the terms and conditions it actually has height too

        Vessel must be under 50cm Long x 50cm Wide x 50cm Height.

Pretty BS of them to slip the height into the T&Cs but not mention it in the blurb.

        Edit: beaten by 52s

        • I'm 99% sure they added that in the last hour.

When I first saw this post I went in to look at the Ts and Cs coz the lack of height intrigued and surprised me.
I swear when I read them there was still no height listed as I came away satisfied there just was no height limit.

@Balthraka: I'm sure this promotion went through so many 'planning sessions', meetings and other marketing BS, but wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't until it went live did someone realises the massive whole in their T&Cs.

    $10 for popcorn wth .

  • Dumb question: Why don't they do other flavours like Garrett Popcorn.

  • Fill Your Own Box

Reminds me of the days of covid lol when they banned reusable cups

  • Just have a BYO candy fee. 💀

    • Am i the only one that sneaks a 3 course dinner in movies?

      • I watch movies in the comfort of my own house, without having to spend 2 hours sitting next to someone who has god knows what diseases and no need to “sneak” food.

I seriously don’t get why anyone would still go to the movies.

        • I'm the same to be honest, I don't even have a brand name tv, just a colour calibrated EKO from Big W. Best of all you can pair some decent bluetooth headphones and hear all the words and all the low end.

          • @Mickice: Yeah you lost me at 2 channel audio with "low end"

        • +1

Early screenings, proper dolby atmos, not having to bootleg cam rips?

Pick your session times right and you have the whole theatre to yourself

Amazon - AKAR Double Wall Extra Large (XL) Cardboard Boxes (61cm x 46cm x 46 cm) for Moving House, Removals, Packing

129L of popcorny goodness coming up!

    • Has to be 50x50x50, so no dice

  • what a great way to save labour cost lol

  • That's $9 too much…..

Rock up with a popcorn box from Hoyts…

  • Just bring a big plastic bag

  • Just bring a horse feed bag.

  • So my local cinema now delivers popcorn

  • +1
  • Garbage bag. Will easily fit when empty. Might not pass the food safe criteria though…..

  • Bunnings has a 52l box for 2.50 thats easily in the size required but the must be food safe clause may stop it since cardboard cant really be cleaned so they may us it as a argument.

Still trying to find something similar in plastic thats cheap

Edit: the Ezy Storage 42L square may work as it in size and plastic instead of cardboard for under $5

    • +1

Don't they normally serve popcorn in cardboard?
So surely as long as it's new cardboard it should be ok

  • can people please post photos of popcorn hauls if successful this Friday?
