Round Smart Watch, Black - $19 (Was $50) Click & Collect @ Kmart

113

Hello my miserable friends. We have this smart watch from Kmart for only $19 (seems pretty cheap). Not sure how well it works or how long it lasts or how smarty-pants it is. But $19 seems quite reasonable.

Give it as an 🇦🇺 Day gift to someone. Maybe your Boss, S/he might realise that you are so poor and increase your pay. Than you can give them an Apple watch in 2025.

    Finally, a watch I can afford :)

    • Give it as an 🇦🇺 Day gift to someone.

Pretty sure it's made in China though.

    Review from Kmart:

This watch is complete rubbish. Battery life is less than a day, which is not enough if you want to track 24 hrs of activity. The app that you have to download to your phone contains numerous pop-up advertisements for Temu, Facebook, gambling websites, and other garbage. These frequently freeze the screen with advertisements and no way to exit froRead more about review stating This watch is garage, don't waste your money.m them or move to the next step in the app. The weather function is completely useless—it apparently gives weather info for a time it updated in the past and doesn’t give current weather. There is no way to find out where the watch selects its weather information from, or when it updates. Some functions don’t operate at all, including music, photos, news. There is no information in the online manual about how to make these functions operate. The heart rate function and daily steps functions are wildly variable and inaccurate. Many of the supposed functions do not work on an Android phone, despite the watch being marketed as compatible with Android. The watch frequently gives buzzing alerts to unwanted functions such as reminders to have a coffee or exercise break, and there is no way to adjust these alerts. The maximum time the watch display stays on is only 30 seconds. The online manual doesn’t cover most of the supposed functions of the watch. I’m surprised that Kmart sells such rubbish—I sent it back and asked for a refund.

Yeah I think he is trying to say save your $19.

        • Fair enough. Note that not everyone needs a watch the whole day. Some may want to use it for excercise only, that would be an hour or two. It all depends on the use case, as long as the watch actually works. Also note that 16 hours of battery life may be good, provided you sleep 8 hours a day. $19 or $600… dilemma 🤔

          • +2

@mrau: $19 with an adware requirement. Sounds like you're paying to be the product.

        • so if anyone is ok with a smart watch that works 20 hours a day, for $19, I guess it's doable.

      • +1

Maybe the review is based on value-for-money $50 original price

      • It's $19 ffs

        It's $15 omg

    • +2

Okay so don't give it to your Boss…. otherwise you will end up getting sacked.

    • Big oof!

It rarely happens but sometimes newer (more tech) isn't better.

    • The manual mentions Wearfit Pro. The reviews on the Wearfit apps all mention ads.

It's also worth reading through the app reviews before considering purchase.

Neg to draw attention to this

    • The video tagging that as waterproof lmao

    • It doesn't look like the same watch, is the same internals but different casing?

  • If not even anko wants to put their name behind it, I'd avoid lol

    • Anko did put their brand in there. But I agree, save that $19.

    Landfill

    • +2

      Agreed.

Frustrating that such products even exist, tbh…

      • +3

What is more frustrating, is that if you tried to produce and sell such a watch locally you'd be laughed out of every meeting you tried to flog it in. Yet with this one, some factory in you-know-where has knowingly produced a piece of crap that doesn't do half of what it advertises properly and doesn't work at all the rest of the time, but they've made their money selling it and somebody here in KMart presumably evaluated and selected this product to sell and now they are making money from it. The only loser is the end user.

        • +3

The only loser is the end user.

The end user, the environment and the morally-bankrupt society which allow these sorts of practices to continue.

Kmart had it's place in its day, but these days it's feeling more like a brick-and-mortar Wish/Temu?/etc.

        • CHYNA!

    • You missed the OP's idea about getting a pay rise :)

  • +1

These will end up in landfill fairly quickly, so for those reasons I’m out.

  • +2

Built in heart rate monitor, deep sleep monitor, blood oxygen test, blood pressure test

Nice, even the apple watch doesn't measure your blood pressure

    • maximo lol

    • That's because bp measure in watches never works. I've tried with Samsung, but it is useless.

      • Thanks, wasn't gonna buy but good to know!

  • Just flash watch is on it

  • +2

you know there is a problem when a normal watch shape is described as "round".

    • Rectangular face has been common since before digital. They even have rounded corners :)

  • I think we need thoughts from resident watch connoisseur, @WatchNerd.

    • +6

I can confirm it appears to be round.

      • +1

        (profannytitty) I wasn't expecting that.. 🤣

I'm on the fence.. No sapphire but that OG TFT screen is absolute FIRE! 🔥

        • -1

A Daniel Wellington or Spaghetti Scameti is probably a better choice. Sapphire and a Japanese movement with performance better than a Rolex.

          • @ihfree: But they don't have TFT screens.. do they?

            • @WasBargain: Sadly not, for that you'll have to wait for DW or other microbrands to revolutionise the smartwatch market.

  • -1

Is this similar quality to XiaoMi band?

    • +1

This is a piece of crap out of the box
At least the Xiaomi Band will function perfectly fine for a few years.

    • I don't have a Xiaomi band, but I got one of these (for $10; I wouldn't pay $19 on it). It's not my first smart watch — I've tried many cheapos before — and this one feels pretty solid. The major problem is the app, which opens adware every few seconds.

Guy with a good intention had posted a watch with the original Kmart title of "Round smart watch black" and a small gesture of AU boss gift or so. Weird, or cosmonaut self-declared so-called watch author trolls jumped on to bash him. Freckled or speckled; or freckless or speckless other so-called troll watch authors would join the band.
Everyone here is an author on everything, no one is motor, everyone is author, everyone.

    • Cool story.

      • Bro

    • We found the reason for the bump from 5-a-day to 10.
      You're welcome!

I got one; it's $10 now. The hardware is decent; the screen is very bright, and the watch has good weight. The strap is alright too. The only problem is the app, that opens adware every few secs — I kid you not! — but I'm hoping to find a replacement (or simply have little need for the app, anyway).
