Can you link a set of speakers with a subwoofer for $169 which will have better sound than this?
@p1 ama: I would probably keep an eye on the used market, particularly if willing to purchase a refurb soundbar. Search home theatre on marketplace and a whole lot of options for full setups around the $200 mark.
But if lack of space is why you're buying a soundbar then def worth it.
@p1 ama: Subwoofer doesn’t mean good sound or better sound. These subs are terrible anyway, unless all you want is muddy bass

sometimes you'll even score a nice setup from some poor fool who has too much cash and thinks they have to update because <insert arbitrary reason here, possibly date related> and went and bought a soundbar….just get in quick before they realise what a terrible decision they made…

@amosmilburn: If my tv is the size of my tv unit stand, what would you recommend over a sound bar? You keep saying a budget sound system is better than a sound bar but you don't give any examples.
Not everyone cares that much about sound. A lot of people just want something that sounds better than built in speakers (not difficult), while still being convenient & aesthetic.
Soundbars have better integration than active speakers (i.e. HDMI-CEC) and clear speech, bass control etc can be super handy. AVRs have all of that, but they're bulky, take more work to setup, and drive the price up.
Sure a similarly priced, dedicated system will sound better any day - which is exactly why I have one in my lounge - but I wasn't going to set one up on the kitchen/dining TV, so I have a soundbar in there, and it does the job perfectly. Voices from the TV speakers were unintelligible at times, and now it's totally fine. And it still looks good.
Yep. Like me I hate separate subwoofer because I have no space for it but most integrated subs (into soundbar) are bad… Or too expensive…
Yeah these are pure ewaste subwoofer does not turn on with tv and often needs to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work
They are wireless so it should be connected with the soundbar. Turned on fine when I played movies and video games on my PS5 and XSX.
