~85 Free IP TV Channels with LG WebOS Smart TVs @ LG

3720

Surprised this has not been posted before, as it offers LG WebOS Smart TV owners access to 85+ free IP Channels. Some are actually quite decent as well. It is also not available in all countries, but it is in Australia! Note, not all channels in the link are available in Australia, but I provide a full list further down specific to the Australian market.

LG Channels is LG's exclusive free streaming service, offering a wide selection of premium live and on-demand programming, including movies, music, TV shows, news, sports, children's' programs, and more. Watch 100% free live channels anywhere you want!

Instructions

You may already have the channels turned on, but if not, follow the instructions below

  1. Press Home on your TV Remote.
  2. On the TV's home screen, select Settings.
  3. After selecting the Settings Icon on your remote or home page, the Settings Menu will display on either the left or right side of the TV screen. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings menu and select All Settings.
  4. Make sure that LG Channels is set to ON.
  5. Upon turning on LG Channels, you might see a Viewing Restriction Disclaimer. Select OK to continue.
  6. Select the LG Channels icon on LG TV's WebOS Menu Bar.
  7. Start watching LG Channels. You can also just select the channels on your remote as you would normally with FTA tv

Upvoted for reading so diligently and acknowledging OP

    • Good call
But did you note about half are Korean Channels.

Samsung TV Plus has a much better selection of internet Channels by far

      • Oh, no. My wife and daughters constantly watch k-dramas as it is.

Although looking at that list, some don’t seem “channels” but are tv series.

  • +2

For me the settings were on the COG button of my remote, to the right of the Home button but I never knew this, thanks OP!

  • +1

    Thanks for all your efforts

  • +24

Oh this is like the channels you get with Samsung TVs, except these look somehow worse if thats possible

    • +8

I love the Samsung channels! 24/7 Come Dine With Me and Jerry Springer? Hell yeah!

I really miss the Iron Chef channel, that was awesome.

      • +5

You can get all the Iron Chef shows through the Tubi app on Samsung and other smart TVs, for free. Check it out.

        • oh cool, I'll check it out!

      • what , they have jerry on there ?? i’m buying just for jerry

    • Still spewing that Samsung dropped the three Qwest music channels. They've since added a bein sampler channel, which is not bad, but I'm already paying for that service anyway.

    • +1

Do any of the Korean channels have English subtitles?

      • +1

        Yes, they do.

    • Wait until they start making TV channels using generative AI.

  • -1

They removed sbs on demand app from their tvs. Really tricky now to watch fargo without having to connect via the hdmi

    • +1

      It's still on mine, LGCX

    • +2

Still on mine too. And it is coming up on the LG Content Store when I search for it.

    • It's still on mine too, but I don't really use it and just set a reminder on the TV and it automatically turns on the TV and switches channel to SBS when Fargo is airing (if the TV is off or on a different channel).

    • Started Fargo season 5 today, coincidentally. SBS still available on my C7

    • On demand is unwatchable. Bitrate is so low that it feels like I am watching 2011 YouTube

  • I just noticed this last night while watching New Years event.

  • would it be applied for EKO TVs from BigW since they are using WebOS?

    • +1

I believe it is only for LG TVs as there is a setting called "LG Channels" that needs to be toggled on in the settings (step 4 in instructions)

    • Check on the LG store if LG Channels app is available.

    • +5

I think this TV is running on a 1 MHz single core ARM CPU , so technically after taking about a week to boot into the OS, it should work.

  • +9

    These channels look horrible tbh.

They couldnt even give us one ADULT X RATED channel? Smh

    I’ll pass

    (Upvoted for the effort regardless)

    • +1

When I set up my LG TV a year ago, I misread IP-164 K-POPCORN (Korean) as a bit of nudge-nudge wink-wink but alas no sexy time there.

Haven’t watched anything else in this app since—too busy getting through free trials of Apple TV+ and discounted Paramount+, MGM, etc.

      • +1

They're really leading people along with IP-812: "My Sassy Girl (Korean)" as well.

        • Korean movie classic 101

    • +16

      You didn’t upvote…

  • +6

Kodi with the Pluto tv add on is far superior haha

  • +2

That would mean putting it online though. They'll have to stop pushing notification ad-spam to me before I ever fall for that again.

    • +1

I thought that was really only Samsung who did it

    • yeah, also don't they collect analytics from what's watched ok TV with this enabled?

      • +1

Think you can turn the viewing habit reporting on/off but they were caught ignoring your settings a while back and sending all data back.

  • +7

Have a C9 and can't see the setting. Can install LG Channels via WebOS store but when I open it says it's not available in my country yet?

    • +1

Same. I have the C9 as well.
I have Programmes instead of channels under settings.

    • Same for me on C9 - WebOS for has Programme not Channeks and the Xumo / LG Channels app says not avail in your country.

  • +8

I have an LG and I hide all these channels

  • Thanks OP good pick up will try it.

  • +3

Cant see the settings on my C1, nothing in store either

    • +1

      Same here, C1 and nothing

    • +1

Does yours say programmes instead of channels?

      • +2

        Yep

      • +2

        Same. Programmes instead of channels.

    • +2

Make that 3 here now with no luck on the C1.

    • Same with me. can't even find LG Channels app when searching for it in the app store.

    • I have 3 LG,s a C8, a C1 and a C2.

The C8 and C2 have this but the C1 doesn't.

There isn't much on them in any case.

      • Interesting that c2 has it but c1 doesnt. I thought only older lg tvs get these channels.

      • Weird, my CX and C3 have them… Although mine must have channels not listed above because my wife binges some channel that ONLY shows deal or no deal…

    • **** This is now available on LG C1 in Australia ****

This morning I received a software update on the C1, After the update I was asked to accept new agreements and one of them was the LG Channels agreement.

I now have these channels on my TV, they appear at the bottom of the standard Live TV Antenna list.

*** Disclaimer - They ain't super duper but they are there.

  • Same result, no options in settings and not available in this country message if I install the app.

  • +2

I can't see this on my c9.. I'm pretty sure c9 is web os 4.5 as well
You can search for LG channels on the app store but it's not available for Australia when launched

    • LG CARE told me I had to have WebOS 6 yet I have a C9 which I though had WebOS 4 or 4.5 but they said I have to buy a new TV if it says Programmes not Channels. Then I asked about why the app doesn’t work and he says it should but doesn’t know why and he spoke to colleagues who said the same, the XUMO app should work.

Once LG Displays puts Micro Lens tech on a C4 or C5 then I’ll replace my OLED unless we get another VIP code. The micro lens technology is confirmed on the G4 OLED Evo but not sure about C4. There was a leak that someone posted to YouTube in the past few days. Says Micro Lens technology increases the brightness of the screen at 1800 or even 2000 nits.

There is a lot of new tech coming for W-OLED but right now the Quantum Dot OLED Tech beats the W-OLED tech and I think Samsung and Sony might be using Quantum Dot OLED Displays.

LG Displays are keeping their best OLED screens for their own brand and selling their basic models to one or two other OLED suppliers, but it’s old tech in not very good TV you don’t remember the brands.

TCL and HiSense are pushing forward with MiniLED technology. No consumer MicroLED afaik.

That’s just what I saw on the YouTube channels like HDTVtest and Stop the FOMO.

Keep an eye on those as they have good comparisons on the high end models and always does a deep dive into new technologies.

  • Not on the 65UP8000PTB

    • Same here, not on LG's 43UM7600PTA running 'webOS 4.5 Smart TV' Operating System.

  • +4

Had a look through the other day, pretty damn average. That's most likely why it hasn't been posted before.

    • Hmm it’s not average actually.

    • +1

      Way below average actually.

  • Time for an LG tv?

  • +15

Who knew there was something worse than free to air.

  • No dedicated 24/7 Baywatch or Melrose Place channels like Samsung lol.

  • +1

Thanks, looking forward to watching IP-812 My SassyGirl (Korean)

  • Works on my CX, thanks OP

  • Can you get these with a Kodi source? There is also a Samsung tv channel listing. That can be used on Kodi without a Samsung tv. Few good movies channels, dedicated shark tank channel and great re runs of Jerry springer and judge Judy 🤣😂

    • +2

look up slyguy repository - has a bunch of IPTV add ons with full guide integration.

had Kayo too but recently got borked by Foxtel :(

      • Yeah that was good. I used to get the channel 7 channel's from other states when the AFL was not live in my state. Was great 🤣😂 now doesn't work like that.
I'll have to check it out again. Thanks for reminding me.

        • I just tried using NordVPN. it picked up Perth, Melbourne & Brisbane live streams when I changed between their respective servers.

          • @M00Cow: I'll have to try it again. I found they still had tv shows on like RTB during the AFL broadcast on those streams.

            • +1

@Tommohalby: ah ok, maybe they're only allowed to broadcast, not stream, as part of their Foxtel deal. ABC used to be the same for cricket in the radio. Cricket coverage wasn't available on the ABC Listen app, only on a radio.

              • @M00Cow: Pretty sure only Kayo has the online streaming rights. Hence, why it why it won't work on Kodi. Fro my understanding, I think the Slyguy/Matt add on is grabbing the streams from all the individual catch up apps and just compiling into 1 epg guide.

I love it! Been using it for 4 years now. Can also integrate kayo live channels into the EPG!!!

    • how do i get that kodi to watch old jerry springer and judge judy ? love these shows

  • +1

From what I can tell, later models using WebOS 22 will require you to enable under the user agreements section of settings, eg. you need to turn on data collecting stuff. I refuse to do this so they don't show up. You may also need an LG account.

  • +3

Just an FYI, most of these are available on all Android TVs too, via the free plex app, under 'live tv'.

Tubi also has several of them.

    • +1

It's actually built into the tv as linear streaming channels, but only in USA currently. Works when you switch on nord vpn. Some decent bbc and kids channels
I wish they would set it up for oz.

  • +1

I thought it's not available in Australia. Thanks OP.

    • Just tried and it isn't available

  • +1

I can see these on my Bauhn 70" WebOS TV. have flicked through them, nothing of any great interest to me, but free is free!

I also get a bunch of Rakuten TV IP channels showing up as well, but they all just seem to be promos for a subscription service.
