Going through back issues to see how their stock tips turned out would be of more value for those who want share market advice.
I ended my Money subscription some months ago as it's a pretty commercial mag containing a lot of 'lifestyle' and 'advertorial' fluff. But the occasional valuable financial tip or special offer can definitely cover the price of admission - at $25/year I'll probably re-subscribe. The tips aren't 'secrets' you couldn't pick up from reading forums or chatting with mates, but it sometimes brings relevant stuff you may have missed to the forefront.

why? there are lots of examples in history where advisors have had a great track record and then made a mess of it…
if you want stock market advice, one of the last places to look would be a magazine giving generic advice to the masses…
Reading through past stock advice is one of the best ways newbies can gain an appreciation for how reality can stray from confident and seemingly well-informed stock predictions. I wasn't referring to 'past performance as an indicator of future returns' in the sense it's usually discussed.
Money magazine is very 'lite' reading in all matters. I would suggest you get a magazine which specifically targets stocks market.
If it's share market based get a subscription to the Smart Investor or Your Trading Edge magazine would be better i reckon.

name one… i found it useless and didn't continue after expiring…
Money did a deal with Westpac where kids could open new Bank Accounts and they would add in $50 to each account. Two kids = $100. Covered the subscription on just that one.
my kids invest their pocket money in property… bank returns are not a good investement…

Does not apply, if you click change promotion and remove the code, the dymo shows up
Do we have a code for this 2 years subscription deal? I know that the link directly takes to the form but just wanted to know if there is a code so that I can directly subscribe from my magshop account.
Just renewed my subscription and found the answer; you can use either of the following codes: D1210MM1, D1210MM2, D1210MM3, D1210MM4, D1210MM5, D1210MM6, D1210MM8. It's in the terms and conditions.

Thanks op, good find.
Dymo Letra Tag worth $59
$39 at BigW, although I got if for around $29 on sale…
The punchline is, this magazine won't be around in two years.
Just renewed my subscription on the n'th minute… $44 or something liek that for 13 issues as i'd get '2 free'.
this is way cheaper.. any way i can cancel my subscription or something or up it to this one.. seems grossly unfair paying $5 mroe for 2 yrs having just renwed subscribed only a week ago
Just send them email and i am very much sure they will take care of it and extend your subscription..give it a try..
Rang up on friday after seeing this and cancelled my subscription - should get it all refunded as no issue had been sent out yet. Lady said I can do it online but I'll call in in person to subscribe to this 2 year deal to ensure it's all done properly. At 22 issues for $50 it's only $2.27, even though I usually read 1/12 issues that arrived in the mail over the last yr, if i free up more time it's pretty darn cheap on a per issue basis.
Wish they did awesome deals on the smart investor, or BRW magazines.
Any way we can get the Tag and 2 years deal together? XD
no
As an existing subscriber with about 1 year to go, do you think I can extend for a further 2 years with this offer?
yes..i did it last year..mine was i think 8-9 months pending..the new subscription will start only when the existing one finishes..but make sure you subscribe from the same magshop account..cheers !!
Don't waste your time with magazines, most of the stock picks are poor. Your best bet would be to simply join hotcopper and read through the forums there.
That's not going to do you any better for stock picks either - it merely highlights information but there's a heck of a lot of crap and noise that goes through there from other mums and dads who may have no idea what they're doing (but think they do). Of course there's some astute investors on there, but take everything with a pinch of salt.
Anyway for this price your best of just accessing all facets of information and making a call than brushing one off over the other (unless you don't have the time for both, in which case fair enough).
Just started to get into the share market so hopefully this'll help!!
