Gearwrench 12pc Ratcheting Wrench Set $69 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ $99 Order) @ Sydney Tools

140

These tools are going cheap again. I didnt list the RRP because honestly unless you were in a bind you would just until they are on sale.

I bought these tools well over a year ago now and have used them quite a few times on my car and bicycles, they are excellent. The dark finish is nice too, with the only minor complaint that the finish can be scratched if the spanner scrapes a sharp edge during use. Highly recommended anyway and definitely the best spanners going for the price IMO, with a good range of sizes (from memory 8mm to 19mm) and a lifetime warranty.

Be quick though it finishes tonight!

    Ridiculous RRP
    Currently $110 @ Amazon

    • Yeah 220 is a ridiculous RRP, but 69 is an excellent deal, no branded lifetime warranty tools in a set with this many wrenches is near this price, and they are all metric with not imperial waste

Bought 2 sets in a previous sale at this price. Had two ratchets (17 & 19) fail quite quickly in one set … Sydney Tools took those two units back for warranty but Gearwrench didn't repair instead Sydney Tools gave a $69 credit and let me keep the rest of the set. Other set has been faultless in the 2 years of ownership. Can def recommend at this price

    • Nice to know, mine haven't failed yet but I am not wrenching on the every day

    • the ratchet end is only designed to take up slack, open end is to tighten, the pawls in the ratchet are tiny. even their web site talks about not designed for tightening. especially as you get to bigger fasteners, which are usually torques higher.

You guys go crazy for this drop forged tool set?
You can buy better quality Chrome Vanadium tools even at Reject Shop or BigW!

    • Please post links. Cause every tool ive bought from cheap shops has failed me within a few months.

Please post links of your cheap tools.

        • Just the random ones from SCA, BCF etc with free credits they give. They never last.

However, the tools from gearwrench, sidechrome etc have lasted nearly a decade. I even have a 30 year old sidechrome set that was given to me, tools are still intact

          • @easternculture:

Just the random ones from SCA, BCF

So do you know the difference between Chrome Vanadium and drop forged made tools, it looks like you don't know.

            • @billadm: All i know is buy tools after reading many positive reviews (including customer support) and the ones that offer lifetime warranty. They have never failed me

              • @easternculture: I have had at least 5 sets for spanners and at least 4 socket sets (more come to think of it). Cheap tools can work OK, but some are rubbish. The issues I have encountered are:

                1. Cheap spanners are rusty every time I take them out. I can clean them off, but sure enough next time I get one they are rusty again. I don't want to coat them in oil just so they don't rust, which would be unsafe as they would be slippery and you shouldn't have motor oils on your hands all the time due to the potential side effects

                2. Cheap 1/4" socket set from SCA, only one socket, the largest, is 1/4", the rest are 1/8. First time I used the adapter it twisted off. This was a while back, I expect even their bottom end stuff isn't that bad anymore

                3. Cheap socket set rounded the bolt on an engine mount. It was in fact a 5 point, but clearly made of chinesium. I then tried a better quality but 12 point set but it was too far gone. Same socket set the ratchet blew after I accidentally tightened the sump bolt on my car instead of loosened, I wasn't pushing that hard though

If you pick up this set you won't have hassles. I wouldn't put an extention on a ratcheting anything, use a breaker bar for that. I reckon with as long as these tools are you won't have an issue pushing them as hard as you can by hand.

Re drop forged or cr-v, at this price you want the tools to be decent, well made, precise. These are all the above, and if one has an issue you can return it

      • for me cheap tools have poor fit and round fasteners. headaches start once you have rounded fastener as need to get fastener off/ out and then also replace. now i tend to buy 6 pointy sockets and even have 6 point ring spanners. Gearwrench 6 point spanner set is $65 on amazon.

        • Fair enough, but at that price I believe you get standard combination spanners, not ratcheting
