I thought this said Outer Wilds for a sec and got so hyped
May I humbly recommend you just buy Outer Wilds? It's just that good.
When does it get good?
I enjoyed it right after the tutorial. You should ideally go in blind and can't look up anything however as rewards in the game are knowledge. There's minimal hand holding however but a very solid plot and progression.
Also only time I've been jump scared by a rock.
because the only thing better than playing outer wilds is getting someone else to play outer wilds and free is the perfect price to do so
Both (Worlds and wilds) are in game pass if I'm not mistaken… Just in case you have it 🙂
Outer Wilds is not in Gamepass.
It definitely was at one point, I do recall trying it.
@zbys: Yes, it has been before, plus it was also given for free if you watched the MS conference from E3 on Mixer before the game was released some years ago.
@zbys: It was pulled at the end of 2022
oh wow finally…
i was interested in trying this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/theouterworlds/comments/16l3zgt/ive…
wow wow wow I played this game way too much on Xbox when it was on the pass, now time to revisit on PC
Where did OP find this info? Curious about this
Cool 10 more free games coming up!
what do you guys think the chances are of they giving away a big title around the end of the promo? cyberpunk, baldurs gate, etc
Natural 1.
DM: you walk into an opening. you see a dog
Barbarian: can I pet it? rolls d20
d20: 1
DM: you slap the dog
either of those two? I'd say around zero percent. If you look at the game currently available (Ghostwire: Tokyo) and the next you'll find they were never extremely popular. Ghostwire by my recollection was panned for repetitive gameplay and bad plot. I loved Outer Worlds but I don't know anyone else who played it, and pretty much all my friends are nerds. I think that one suffered from being released around the same time as some very popular AAA games?
Anyway, they're not giving away blockbusters, more games that have name recognition but that they could still pick up for a reasonable wholesale price is my guess.
I'd be expecting more like GTA5, so older but still very much worth picking up for free.
outer worlds was unfortunate. It's a really interesting game. Sank 50+ hours into side quests and barely 1/5 of the way through the game. Some might say i'm already 90% of the way through if i'm after the crash and burn ending
Ghostwire wasn't panned at all:
Baldurs isn't even on game pass (and won't be) … No chance of it being an epic freebie… Maybe OG Alan wake to drive more Alan wake 2 sales ?
No way they would give away BG3. I think cyberpunk is unlikely too, but not impossible.
im thinking Cyberpunk might be in the line up since its not on any type of sale on EGS. BG3 was just wishful thinking on my part lol
They've just released the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk and Epic is a competitive store to GoG.com. Doesn't sound like a smart business decision to me. Has the highly regarded Witcher 3 been released for free on Epic yet?
The studio that made Cyberpunk run GOG, That are a competitor to Epic. No way they will have it on Epic for free
Why would they give away games that still sell really well?
They are trying to promote the Epic store/launcher.
They could make it just not suck, but I guess marketing team doesn't influence their launcher development team.
Lucky for Epic Fortnight gives them unlimited cash for endless freebies.
Mate, Fallout, Ghostwire and Outer Worlds are already massive titles. Sure, they may not be massive AAA blockbusters, but they are still for the most part highly regarded games. We should all consider ourselves extremely lucky for what we ARE getting. You'd have to pay quite a bit of money to get those on consoles or steam, and they are literally GOOD games. I'm surprised we are getting these high-quality, highly-rated games instead of stuff you'd expect to get for free like either extremely small obscure indies, or sometimes even just mass-produced shovelware. People pay money even for THOSE types of games on websites like Fanatical (mystery bundles etc). I hate to say it, but us pc gamers seem to be starting to get just a little bit entitled. Sure, I love free games just as much as the next person. I too would love to get Baldurs Gate or Cyberpunk for free; it'd save me a lot of money. But we should honestly just be grateful for what we're already getting. Lots of people can't get free games at all.
Almost zero chance it’s that recent, almost certain something more popular though.
Thanks OP
Thanks dealbot….hey wait, you're not dealbot!
I'm dealbot
I'm dealbot.
@PuppieWayne: we're all dealbots
beep bop beep
@shabaka: He's not Dealbot, he's just a very naughty boy !
I don't see it being free. What did I do wrong?
Not read correctly
Got it, Tomorrow.
Maybe, it's traditional for this time of year to have lots of speculation and e-drama around these guesses
Got to mostly agree. Finished it on launch and was pretty forgettable. In fact, I forget about 99% of it.
Well it's not the best choice.
it's spacer's choice! lol
Dumb question. Do you get the whole game?. Im reading it oddly as just the upgrade?
its full game and DLC, the confusion is that if you already own the game, you could buy this version for a discount to get the additonal DLC, or something like that. very poorly worded
Anyone else having a problem claiming this game this morning on their phone via browser? I click the Get button and it just takes me back to the store page. Might have to try on my pc in the app instead.
I used to have this problem, I think logging out and back in solved it for me
Thanks, I ended up just claiming on the PC app. If the error still happens on my phone for tomorrow's game I'll try logging out.
fantastic very nice surprise, glad i didnt buy it earlier
Great game! I spent countless hours on it when it was first released. I haven't played any of the DLCs so now that they're free, I'm going to get back into it these holidays. It's a space RPG, with lots of exploration, weapons, and dialogue choices. It's like Starfield, but fun.
Played the game when I had Game Pass and it was pretty solid, enjoyable enough for me to get to the end.
I hope everyone who paid $30 on Steam has a nice Boxing day. Try not to cry in front of your family.
Did they ever fix the performance issues on this remastered version?
(Guess I’ll find out in a few hours…)
In my experience, not really. I'm running it on very low-end hardware though, laptop with 10300h, 4gb 1650ti, 16gb ram.
Ran the standard edition with much better performance , and it looked better too.
I had trouble adding this to my account via the Epic Games website on my Mac. It kept saying: "You need to wait another day before adding more free games".
It turns out it was iCloud Private Relay causing the issue - presumably someone on the same exit IP had already added a free game.
So if you use iCloud Private Relay (or any other VPN, or if your ISP multiplexes IP addresses), then getting a different IP address (e.g. by disabling VPN) may help.
I had the same issue, needed to use a VPN to bypass it, or probably temporarily turning off iCloud private replay could work
I am not sad that this game is now free, and I paid for the full price.
I am sad that I paid full price for starfield also, and I enjoyed this game more than starfield.
I paid full price for starfield
M y sincerest condolences
Starfield just got too complicated after a while..
Sometime, you just want a simple A-B game and blows shit up in between.
Really enjoyed this game and looking forward to getting into the DLC..
OW2 is going to be awesome! - I hope so anyway.
What did you expect it’s from Bethesda lol
This is amazing. I'm glad that i didn't buy this previously. This is the game + all DLC. Saved $90.
Sucks to be me. I purchased it for just over $7 USD from a key reseller a week ago. The problem is, you never know which games are going to be given away from free. But it seems like, it a game has been Bundled once before, there is a modest chance it will become an Epic Freebie. VR games might be an exception; I don't think any VR exclusives have been free on Epic.
If it was likely a Steam key, you're still winning.
Epic must be bleeding money just to get people to use their launcher.
I doubt that it was the Spacer's Choice Edition which you got. This is like a definitive edition version of the game. Comes with the complete set of DLC with it. The most complete and expensive version. And as far as i'm aware this is the first time ever that this game has been given away free any where on any platform.
I usually hold off to buy any game during december to see what epic games freebie comes up with
I know that feeling, bought Gloomhaven for around $50 before Epic gave it away free a month or so later
That other guy who thinks he has exclusive rights to Epic isn't going to be happy you posted this.
He might get an inbox asking him to stop soon
