  • How is this sound compared to Samsung Q990C soundbar? I know its different product, but its similarly priced atm

    • +3

youll need to factor in a reciever to power these too

    • As per comment above you will need an AV Receiver to power this and is very different to a soundbar system

Go the soundbar. The Yamaha setup (even factoring in an amp) won’t have ATMOS. I never thought I’d say this but I have both systems at home and the 990c is far more capable.

Huh???? The 990c does virtual atmos, virtual stereo. It doesn’t have physical atmos and doesn’t have physical 5.1. Also the speakers are tiny, they have zero midrange and the sub has to pick up all the slack. This setup for majority of shows and movies will be far better in every way. If you want some random noises above you now and then, then yes get a soundbar if that is all you care about hey.

I have the 930c and it’s really nice in a tiny room, sounds really average with music and imo terrible with anything that isn’t action movies. Dialogue is handled poorly and is hard to hear as it handles it terribly even after changes modes and tweaking. Never have these issues with my 5.1 system

Honestly I would take a proper 3.1 setup over the 990c. But I prefer great sound over virtual atmos.

But if price and space is a concern, that’s what modern soundbars are for. And there can look a lot better sometimes

If you want convenience and form factor above sound, get a soundbar. If you care about sound, get discrete speakers and a receiver. I've heard so many different sound bars at this point. They are getting better and better but they're still just a bunch of tiny speakers in a small and narrow plasticky body and they just can't overcome those physical limitations. Not saying sound bars are "bad", or that you won't enjoy it, but they won't sound as good as a discrete system and shouldn't be expected to.

In this country kids should start to maths, and written language i.e. numeracy and literacy; and classic music before their first breastfeeding!

  • What's the best way to plug something like these into a computer

    • +1

      I’d go with cords

      • +2

Cables are far superior. Chords with modern music is so restrictive.

        • Yes happy to stand corrected

  • @TrollBender

  • sony muteki has 2 subs but this one has 1.. is it worth upgrading?

  • Look good to me, but not much up votes. Is it because it's actually not a bargain, or is it because people now prefer systems without Receivers today?

  • Hi Rep, will you be doing a deal on a Klipsch 5.1 package anytime soon?

    • Hi @ste05 Klipsch had some promo pricing in November however have just changed operations in Australia so we won't see deals for the next 6 months whilst that gets underway :)

      • Thanks for the response will see what other deals you come up with for a 5.1 and amp. Happy to spend around 2k

        • Just sent you DM with some options or we can put together something for you with specific speakers you are looking for :)
