Is it worth paying more for a 65W Anker ?

    • I see what you did there…

      • Most do it. Just don’t highlight it in public.

if you just charge phones and Ipads 33W is fine, I have the 65W for laptop in my backpack

      • I guess it depends on the price difference.

I am waiting for the new 120wanker to be on sale.

    Have one, tiny, works great

    • This is also a good price - you should post it.

There's probably arguments for both chargers - personally I grabbed a stack of these for my parents who aren't too concerned by the intricacies of the various charging standards. They just want "fast charging" compared to the the old no name 10W chargers they're using. Being a couple of buck cheaper I figured I'd take the saving over 5 units. They're also not fully converted to all USB-C so having the USB-A port is convenient for them too.

    • out of stock now but 45w GaN with PPS for $19.99 was even better.

      • Only if you need up to 45W (like laptop?).

        • phones these days such as Google Pixel or Samsung will fast charge so 30w to 45w charger is recommended and sometimes included.

small laptops might charge at 45w, but these days 90w+ is the norm for laptops. pretty sure back in the day the power adapter for normal size laptop was also 60w or higher.

it is also good to often use a power adapter at below is maximum specified rating. in my case I have a 20w max USB-C power adapter (people call them chargers), but my powerbank charges at max 25w. so it's basically always asking the maximum 20w from the power adapter and if you touch it while charging it is very hot. yes there are safety standards yada yada a good charger will cut power before it overheats and melts but I still think it is not good for the charger long term to always have it be so hot.

so a 45w charger would only get mildly warm in comparison while still charging my powerbank at the 25w max specified.
you will notice fast charge phones also follow this same method with included power adapter being 30w to 45w max but the maximum the phone draws only 20w to 25w.

  • Does the plug fold on the Australian version?

    • No - these are single piece with fixed prongs.

      • Thanks, couldn't see how it would with angled prongs.

Bit misleading of them to say it does but whatever.

  • Got one of these, they are tiny af, and great to have as a backup tiny charger - especially because you have a bigger usb plug as well. They do have a slightly smaller, 25w one thats type c only

  • not worth a cent, got one before and the USB-C port failed in 3 months

    • Did you ask Anker to replace with a new one? It should still be in warranty.
