%31 off RRP of $99.95
Not an all time low, but it's discounted enough for me to pull the trigger. Cheapest it's been for a while.
Does anyone have experience if the ones with grooves/ribs on the grill plate are better or not?
This one is way better for cleaning. I own both and I gave away the one with groove.
Agreed, flat top is better
my current one has the grill style top. I personally prefer the flat top as its toasts the bread more evenly. I guess if you were doing stuff like grilling meat or something you might like that, but then again, I cant imagine doing anything other than toasting sandwiches on these things.
Ribbed one is going to leave grill marks on the food. Up to one's liking if it's better or not.
Some food may require full contact (so a flat surface), but I can't think of any examples right now.
Thanks op grabbed one
I've got this model. I do not recommend, but the price is great
Damn, havent seen many negative reviews… I'll see how it goes. i have an old breville one with no height adjustment, so it squashes everything. So i was keen on this one as it has the flat top and adjustment factor.
I'll admit that every single thing about it is really great, the best sandwich press I have used. My one complaint, and this is quite major for me, is that the temperature it reaches is far too high. If I use it like any other sandwich press, my cheese doesn't melt but the bread will burn.
YMMV so good luck!
had to replace the old sandwich press so went with the 2 slice Sunbeam and it's been great. https://www.amazon.com.au/Sunbeam-Sandwich-AnyHeightTM-Sandw…
think I paid around $39 but anyway. the 2 slice version was the only one among all others that had consistent good reviews. things to know about it are the top is "grill" style while the bottom is normal flat, I didn't mind doesn't make much of a difference IMO or maybe I'm just not fussy.
looked up a bunch of breville models and they all had terrible reviews mainly mentioning something going wrong within a year or two (I think one common thing across models was the temperature sensor going wrong and the press wouldn't even get hot enough to toast). the previous old sandwich press was a breville and it was a workhorse (10 years? without issues) but it was getting too slow to heat up so needed replacing. seems like breville just isn't good now like they used to be.
thanks OP - price matched at JB and used $10 Perks :)
i've only ever bought Breville or Sunbeam with just flat-plates, had no issues with either, each lasting for years - disappointing that Sunbeam no longer have 2-slice flat-plates, 4-slice is too big, but at this price, guess will have to make some space
Looks to be price matching Target unless I'm very mistaken for those brave souls venturing the shops the next few days
