From day one I turn off fast charging and fast wireless charging on my zfold5. Reddit say it can help the battery health.

    • +25

life is too short to give a shit

on a folding phone the battery is probably not the first thing to break for an economically unviable repair

      • +2

yeah i will try as long as i can sometimes yes annoying charges slow.
also i turn on the battery protection, only charging up to 85%. only when i am on holiday i will charge to 100% as i will have less access to charger

        • +3

I think that is the main factor, charging to 100% all the time (overnight charge).

2yrs now been doing just that (85-95% charge most mornings) for my iPhone13proMax.
          At 97% battery health.
I just fast charge it in the morning, as I get ready for work.

You planning on keeping your phone for 10 years?

    • I keep my iPhone 15 Pro Max set to 80% limit (you can do it in settings) and only charge at night with a 5w charger. It might be overkill but even 80% of the battery lasts stupid long.

      • I get 7.5hrs out of about 80% (100-20). Daily charge sometimes on low power mode

    • " (RRP $999)"

that suspiciously sounds like a made up number. 🤔

  • Any experiences on this with iPhone pro max 15?

    • It'll work. Why wouldn't it?
      Won't draw more than 27W though (9V 3A)

  • +3

    As a frequent traveler, I prefer 2C1A

    1C for laptop
    1C for phone/tablet
    1A for Bluetooth earphone

Usually it's the earphone that takes the longest to charge, and it's unable to take high W.
So a Max 15W USB-A is perfect, doesn't occupy a fast charge USB-C port for hours.

    • I hear you. I have the Anker GAN which has those 3 ports.

      2 Cups 1 Ass.

      • +4

I think they prefer two in the C, but only one in the A

    • 1A for Bluetooth earphone

Earbuds in charge case solves this problem. You can always top up your phone and earbuds from your laptop so there really is no need for more than two USB C ports.
Smaller charger, less cables means more efficient traveling…

      • Earbuds in charge case solves this problem.

All earbuds come with a case, so ya, by saying 1A for Bluetooth earphone, I mean 1A for the case.

You can always top up your phone and earbuds from your laptop

I prefer not to do so as that will shorten the overall battery life of my laptop.
My Fujitsu laptop, with battery included, is less than 750g.
It's really light, perfect for me as a frequent traveler, but the battery only lasts around 4-5 hours for office/internet use.
Which is more than enough for me and It can be charged by mobile battery so it's not really an issue to me.

less cables means more efficient traveling

Most airports/cafes/transport only provide free USB-A charging ports, a cable is probably only 25g anyway.

Sorry I should have also included mobile battery, which takes hours to fill up
        1C for laptop/mobile battery
        1C for phone/tablet/mobile battery
        1A for Bluetooth earphone

So ya, 3 ports are essential.

        • So ya, 3 ports are essential.

Not really essential you just choose that option which is fine. You do you.

I have the same amount of gear as you and have never needed a 3rd USB socket just for my earbuds. There's 24 hours in a day which is plenty to rotate the laptop, phone, earbuds and power brick with 2 USB C fast charge ports.
Even when I travel with the missus and she brings her tablet, phone and earbuds there still never been a problem with just 2 ports. It's a 65W charger so will charge your phone in less than an hour. What are you doing with that port for the other 23 hours of the day?

          • @1st-Amendment:

What are you doing with that port for the other 23 hours of the day?

To keep the battery of my devices healthy, avoid ageing, and to extend the lifespan of them,
            1. I don't use my laptop to charge other devices,
            2. I don't charge my devices overnight/ over charge my devices.
            3. I stop charging, unplug it as soon as it reaches 85%.

            So no, I don't charge 24h a day.
The only available charging time are:
            1. After I check in my hotel room and before I go to bed, around 3 hours
            2. After I get out of my bed and before I check out, around an hour

Again, I carry a USB A cable with me anyway (for charging in public areas), an extra port is always handy.

    • used to thunk i needed that but this belkin is my holiday charger. my laptop charges my usb a devices

  • Can anyone tell me whether or not it supports Samsung's super fast 2.0 charging? I think it needs to specifically be capable of 9v/5a?

    • I bought this belkin charger from Jbhifi and returned it as it never shows fast charge 2.0 though it says it's compatible.

      • +1

Any idea if your cable was 5a rated? Apparently that's a requirement too.

        • Yes, tested that with a 5A cable that I'm sure it works, I've got another 100W charger and it gives me the fast charger 2.0

      • I bought this belkin charger from Jbhifi and returned it as it never shows fast charge 2.0 though it says it's compatible.

I had a quick look at the product page and couldn't see anywhere where it specifically says it supports this spec.

        • It shows on their website that it supports USB-C PD 3.0 and PPS charging, also in the computability list, galaxy s23 ultra is listed.

          • @NTS83: Are you trying to use it with the Ultra? I've got the Ultra and would like to get it to 45W charging on occasion. Evidently this doesn't work?

          • @NTS83:

It shows on their website that it supports USB-C PD 3.0 and PPS charging, also in the computability list, galaxy s23 ultra is listed.

That just means standard 'fast charging'. Samsung's 'super fast charging' is proprietary spec probably designed to lock you into using Samsung chargers.

    • Yes it does…. super fast charge 2.0 on my previous note 10 plus..

    • Full charging specs:

      PD:
      5V / 3A /15W
      9V / 3A / 27W
      15V / 3A / 45W
      20V / 3.25A / 65W

      PPS:
      3.3V - 11V / 4.05A / 13W - 45W
      3.3V - 21V / 3.25A / 11W - 65W

  • I have this and powers well my MacBook Air and iPhone together. However it’s a bit loose on the wall plug and comes off quite easily

  • Recommend me charging cable for iphone 13 Pro.

  • This one or the Otto Wildskin 36W GaN Dual USB-C from OW ?

  • Is this a good option for the ROG Ally?

  • picked up the EFM 65w dual usb c GaN from TGGC last week for $32, it charges the S20 fe 5g and states 'superfast' charging (blue green circle rather than green circle fast charging). It doesn't actually make a difference to the charging time though which is odd? Using a 100w rated usb c cable. It looks very similar to this Belkin design wise and feels heavy and well made, claims a 5 year warranty, gets warm charging (Charges my Lenovo laptop whilst running GTA5 on max performance power settings) so I'm assuming it is giving out the same 65w that the lenovo charger does.

EFM is not a top tier product like belkin would be but it seems to be a well made charger and I would hope reputable if sold by brick and mortar stores in Aus?

  • Any cheap way to get the membership ?? and like can we use TGG giftcard on it ??

    • Via union, possibly NRMA blue, some energy companies (I think AGL but don't recommend them!). There's a few ways. Don't know about using gift cards though sorry, probably not.

Just want to comment this is not a particularly good charger - it unplugs from outlets very easily.
