    lame

    • +1

Better than just having one with no cap if you sell a lot of stuff

I would rather live an easy life and you transfer the 3 eBay seller fee free to me :)

    • +2

what more do you expect, it's eBay…

    • +4

neg me all you want but last year this time around we had unlimited no fees for a whole month :)

      • -3

That was before reality hits in with inflation from RBA…

We’re not living an easy life rn

        • +3

          *eBay's corporate greed

        • -2

          2 people really can’t take a joke :(

  • +2

Hopefully this means it will return monthly next year.

  • And with the discounted shipping it's easy money.

  • $25 each or $25 between the 3 listings?

  • +1

    Cap….

  • What's the max selling price that incurs a $25 fee?

    • -2

      1 million dollar

    • +7

      If it's 12.9% of fees,
      then for the $25 cap,
      the 'maximum' amount
of the item should be $193.80

      • Lol good luck selling anything valuable then, like a smartphone 😔

      • +3

list every item at $193.80 , and test my luck

      • Are we sure the variable fee-free limit is $193.80? If so, i'm gonna be listing my items at that price lol.. just gotta pay $0.30 at the end of the day for the standard charge.

        • You need to work out what the percentage of 'fees' is,
          eg. I used 12.9% as a benchmark.

          Some people say it's 13.5%,
so, even with that, to qualify for the capped FVF,
then your selling amount is about AU$ 190,
and any amount above that, will start incurring FVF.

          • +1

@whyisave: Just worked it out, the value is $186.50 for fee-free.

            Fee amount is 13.40% + $0.30.

  • Merry Xmas - eBay xo

    Unwanted Gifts promotion.

  • +6

EBay fees have been incredibly expensive nowadays.

They take up almost 20% of the final value fees which is a lot when you’re selling a big ticket item.

    • +8

EBay fees have been incredibly expensive nowadays.

      "Nowadays" ?

      Try, the last 8+ years.

eBay started charging a percentage of the postage fee as well,
and now that there's no Paypal, eBay is charging those transaction fees of ~3%.

Also, eBay is acting like an escrow service, where it does not release the funds until at least a few days after the sale.

Before, with Paypal, you immediately get notified and you "have" the money, when they buyer makes the payment.
Not anymore, with eBay being the payment processor.

      • +4

I actually get the money processed next business day so about 1-2 days I think.

Not bad on the payment side. But fees could be better. One thing I love about eBay is the reach and the price I can get that I could not via other selling platforms.

        • +1

What do you sell? I feel like it's easier to sell an item for $99 on gumtree than 120 on ebay and get 99 after fees?
Of course GT will be slower tho.

          • +4

@furyou: Yes but you need to deal with gumtree people

            • @quorg: ha

eBay people > Gumtree people > FB people ?

            • @quorg: Or the now regular occasional person on eBay “can you sell me for this price?” Despite not having offers available. -_-

              • @Splashtash: I always say no offers but people still come in with a low-ball offer. I respond to them saying I'm not interested and then block them. Past experience has shown that they continue in "nuisance mode" and I have desire to deal with them.

    • +2

      not 20 bro…. 13 i think

  • So basically just 6 days (26 - 31st DEC) to list your stuff, but will stay active for 30 days from the day of the listing to "sell" & get the FVF up to $25 ????

    • +1

You should be able to list the items now, but schedule them to start within that time-range.

However, you need to activate the offer before the items go 'live' for sale.

    • +3

      Correct.

    • +2

Sometimes it does but not always. Fighting the bastards right now about a fee.
Waiting for a manager to call back. eBay customer service are so full of shit

  • -2

So you can't even do a 7 day auction haiyaaa

    • +6

Going by previous deals, as long as the listing goes live within that period, you’re good. You can put your leg back on chair now.

      • Hey, have you got a source for this please?

        • +1

          Source: trust me bro

We’ve all had experience in this 😎

    • +2

      haiyaa uncle cant read

  • +2

ebay made lots $ but paying little tax to australia. how ?

    • +2

Usually it's done by a business (say, eBay in Australia) paying extraordinarily high fees for 'branding', 'marketing' or other nebulous 'property' to another eBay located offshore in a tax haven like Ireland.

    • +1

All these multi nationals do it sadly, Google, Apple, eBay, Amazon, IKEA… All shift profits overseas to avoid tax.

  • -1

I won't neg it as it is useful for some I am sure, but Ebury is lame!

  • Good for selling unwanted Christmas presents.

  • Hope they bring in at least 1 0% FV for Jan.

  • Just remember 'new listing' only applies to the 1st listing and not the relisted item. If the item does not sell, make a new listing.
I got burnt from the $0 variable listing fee today, but managed to get 50% back after calling Ebay.

    • Did you make the sale within 30 days after listing? Or outside the 30-day time frame. If that so, I want to learn from you how to argue 50% back🤣

  • +1

Has anyone tried this with a draft listing prepared before the date, then listed during the promotional period?
    does the discount work?

    • Yes should work as long as the listing goes live after you accept the promotion

      • Damn I started listing my stuff 3 days ago before I accepted the promotion today

  • I joined the same promotion in October (3x0% final value fee) and made the sale in early December. But eBay refused to credit me the $25. The customer service said I had to both list and sell the item within the promotion period (last time was 1 Oct to 31 Oct).

If what she said was true, that mean this time we have to list and sell the item before the new year??

    • +2

I joined the same promotion in October (3x0% final value fee) and made the sale in early December.

There’s your mistake. The item must be sold within 30 days of listing, not 2-3 months after…

It doesn’t have to sell within the promotion period, just as long as it is sold within 30 days of listing the item.

      • I see. But I read the T&C, and it didn't mention the 30-day limit, only this Eligible Items will only receive the discounted variable fee until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is Good ‘Till Cancelled (“GTC”). After this, standard fees will apply..

I listed the item as GTC and didn't renew once after it went online.

        (Duration: Good 'Til Cancelled
Start time: Oct 07, 2023 06:37:33 PM AEDT)

        • +1

All listings are pretty much GTC and all GTC listings auto-renew every 31 days. It's something they don't really tell you, but they do auto-renew. You can see this by adding a "Time Left" column in your customised table in your active listings page.

I just made a new listing to show you. See here.

          • +1

@I Smell Pennies: Now I get it. Thank you soooooo much.

Quite sneakythat they did not send me any notification about list renewal.

            • +1

@puan123: Yes, that is how they roll these days. There is no way to turn off the auto-renew on fixed price listings.
It seems they want to catch sellers out and then argue the point.
Pretty crappy business practice in my opinion.

  • +1

So hold up, im just a beginner here but if you list an new listings on the 26th-31st of Deb you don't have to sell them within that period?? just until it expires which is 30 days or so.

    • Eligible Items will only receive the discounted variable fee until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is Good ‘Till Cancelled (“GTC”). After this, standard fees will apply.

      You are correct.

      • +1

        Thank you :)

      • Sorry but what is auto renewal and GTC?

If a listing has 10 units sold, will the auto renew change it back to 0?

  • Nothing yet >?

  • If I list an item with multiple quantities, does that count as 1 of the free listings or more?

    • +2

Each quantity sold counts towards the limit.

      • +1

Ohh, so to verify. If I listed a listing, let's just say I'm selling an iPhone for $200 and I have 5 for sale. Only the first 3 would have the fee discounted, and the other two would be charged the regular fees?

        • +1

          That's correct.

The 3 items would receive the maximum FVF 'discount' of $25.

          • +1

            @whyisave: Awesome, thanks for clarifying.

          • @whyisave: Would the promo still apply if one of those 5 items sells before the 31st and the the other two sell after or would the promo only apply to the first one.

            • +2

@illuxon: My experience is that, as long as you satisfy the criteria within the promotion period,
ie. your listing starts within the promotion period (AFTER you have accepted the promotion),
then you still qualify for the discounts even if the Auction/BuyItNow finishes after the promotion period.

The main thing is to accept the promotion first,
and then list your items to start during the promotion period.

  • When I click activation link I keep getting error message.

    • Check to see if you received an e-mail from eBay yesterday (26th) with the subject "Received the Thing you didn’t want this Christmas?". That e-mail contains a link to the offer. If you didn't get that e-mail then try the link @thespensa linked to a few comments above.

  • Can someone confirm What's the exact eBay percentage cut normally for selling a phone? And it's off the total sale value (including shipping fees right?

    • +1

13.4% (including GST and shipping) + a 30c fixed fee.

  • Someone purchasing two quantity of an item in a single order counts as one transaction right? Meaning you might unintentionally go over the $25 selling fee cap and be charged?

    • Yes it will be considered one transaction and you will be charged if the total amount of fees exceeds $25

  • +1

Anyone know if there’s any offer for January?

  • +3

3 x 50% off postage labels are back again for this month

    • I haven't received them on any of my accounts yet (All of them are eBay Plus accounts), upon messaging their live support this is the response I received:

Kindly be rest assured as eBay used to roll out the promotions on regular basis so please be rest assured as soon you should be receiving such promotion on your account and you will be notified via eBay messages.

  • Shit I forgot about my own post. Ughh.

  • I wonder if this is offered because ebay know that sales are very low at this time of the year????

I listed 2 high value items during the promotion period for 7 day auction Listings. Both were relisted because not sold, then sold in the subsequent 7 day period. So of course I had to pay final value fees on both!
