MYOB Atlas 2 years free .com.au Domain... Worst ever

Signed up to a MYOB Atlas product after a seminar with one of their sales people sponsored through Paypals Driving Business online initiative. Was supposed to get a free .com.au domain for two years and website. It asked for credit card detail so they can charge me after 2 years for the next 2 years. Sounds too good to be true. It was - credit card charged $60 on day 2. Called and was advised that this product only has email support and they cannot help me. Send 20 emails and no response for over 3 week. Called again and same advise. Did charge back on credit card but MYOB could prove that I am the account holder which I told the bank in the first place. Still issue is unresolved and time keeps getting wasted. Sandeep was kind enough to try to help but apparently their most senior staff answer the phone so no point of escalation. Super disappointed and would recommend to stay away from these guys and this product.

  • We have this covered last year:

Despite "FREE" first 2 years, after looking at the Terms and Conditions, I'll just say — DON'T USE IT. They lure you with "free" domain registration for 2 years (which is not even true in your case), and then charge you an arm and a leg later on for services you won't want to use.

  • You could try giving the ACCC a call: 1300 302 502

  • It asked for credit card detail so they can charge me after 2 years for the next 2 years

i always keep the odd used visa gift card in my drawer for just this type of situation.

have you sent an email to the billing address mentioned in the t&cs? [email protected]

  • This should be a case for a chargeback from the bank. The issue is not whether you provided the details (which you did) but that you were left with the clear impression that there was no upfront charge whatsoever.

In any event, a .COM.AU domain can be had for $10 per year from any number of reputable sellers, with better support mechanisms too and right to transfer issues don't feature.

Contact your bank again, on the basis that whilst you provided your CC details, you did not authorise a charge. Secondly you have attempted to resolve the matter but the merchant is non-communicative.

    • the t&cs say he owns the domain, he is free to transfer the domain to another registrar (which he should do given myob's current behaviour). but yeah, they shouldn't be charging money up front. once it gets sorted out, cancel the service by given written notices as per the t&cs. they are locking you in to their proprietary service. stick with standard freely-available cms software.
