Different type of products, these come with a dongle for low latency gaming.
WFXM5, I just got it for $263 (matched price with officework $293 then use 10% coupon)
This is not the PS5 earbuds.
The right one is called Pulse Explore earbuds.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/ps5-playstation-pulse-exp…These are ps5 earbuds from Sonys inzone range. These are the right ones and so are the pulse buds
No, these are gaming earbuds from sony. The ps5 buds are from sony interactive entertainment. Yeah its dumb but they like to have separate divisions so idk.
If you wan't to get pedantic, the Pulse Explore are not "PS5" buds, they are PlayStation Portal buds that work with the PS5 (and others) via the dongle.
@snuke: I'm not being pedantic tho? I'm just saying these are two different earbuds with one being marketed as a ps accessory. Not picking a fight with anyone…
@simontadaa: In theory these should be good with the PS5/ portal etc. But as @simontadaa mentioned these are part of Sony's PC gaming line—INZONE.
Expect better support/ performance with PC vs PS5.
@snuke: Not sure where you got this from. Pulse Explore are not "PS Portal buds". They just support the PS Link protocol used in the Portal device.
Since you want to be pedantic… The entire PlayStation marketing page is all about PS5 (and mobile) with one direct mention of Portal aside from along with other devices.
Easily connect and switch between PlayStation Link compatible devices, including your PS5 console, PC, Mac® and PlayStation Portal™ remote player.

Nope, these are not PS5 earbuds at all. They are Sony earbuds that work on PS5, like many others with dongles.
@simontadaa is perfectly correct.
So are the Pulse Explore, you can't use them without the dongle with PS5 or PC. At least the dongle with Inzone buds is usb type c.
Much better sound, comfort, mic and battery in comparison to the Pulse explore.
I've heard opposite on sound (with the Explores having planar magnetic drivers) and mic, and comfort seems like a very individual thing. Battery these will last about as long as the VR controllers which is the main thing I want to use them with.
I believe in using and believing when it comes to something that I'll use every day, and I've been using both since the day each of these came out.
The planar magnetic drivers are a great concept but the size doesn't do justice to them and it suffers due to that. The sound becomes acceptable only when you crank the volume up to 100%. Mic is horrible, to the extent that it is practically useless to chat with friends unless I'm speaking twice as loud than normal. Probably the funny design is to blame, which affects the comfort as well.
The inzone buds on the other hand has great anc and possibly the reason for the great sound are the same drivers as Xm5 buds. The mic is not close to a boom designed on a headphone but is acceptable and clear to my friends in party chat.
Peace out!
Fair enough, I'm still waiting on my Explores to arrive so was going off reviews I'd read on each.
I've got the Pulse Explore's and the fit is awful, the bass is pathetic, and music sounds terrible… I expected something for $329 to sound almost as good or better than my AirPod Pros, but nope.
Should've gone with the Inzone's, but having an original PS5 with only the one USB C port on front, I went with the Pulse Explore's that use a USB A dongle which allows me to still use the USB C port for PSVR2 - the whole point I bought them.
The volume is quiet too. Sure, it's great you can connect to multiple devices at once, and great that you can hear all the highs and mids, and even sounds you didn't know were there before in games, but that's all pointless when the volume is low, good luck getting a comfortable fit, and forget using them with anything other then the PS5 or for listening to music.
Does anyone here know if I buy a USB A to C adapter (liket the Satechi one), if the audio would be affected in any way by using the Inzone dongle on a PS5?
The Pulse Explore's are rubbish!
I asked the reviewer at Press Start if the Inzones would work with an adapter and he said they were fine.
My Pulse Explores still haven't come in and now I'm hearing wildly varying reviews (even from the same person on Reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation/comments/18cck57/commen… ) so I'm not sure what to do - at least EB have the easy return policy if I don't like them.
@McFodder: Interesting comment:
"Holy crap, it's the tips and ear placement.
If you get the right size (large for me), and it it's positioned so gets a good seal, then they do indeed sound incredible.
For me, it had to be in my ear between 1/2 3/4 inserted, and the difference was night and day.
I guess the question is how hard it's going to be to get the right muscle memory to insert these perfectly."
@snuke: While the sound quality improves depending on what earbud size and the exact positioning (yes, have fun twisting it around for a while til you get semi-decent sound), it still isn't as loud as other buds. I've also found the left one disconnecting a few times while I was using them on a PC (again, no EQ or dedicated app on there either).
The clarity is there. The loudness is not. The bass is weak (and I generally don't like bass anyway, but when you listen to music, you'll hear the difference straight away… it just doesn't sound "balanced"… it doesn't sound "right").
I will wait til there's a sale on the Inzone Buds or for Amazon to get them (since they're pretty easy with returns) and try using a USB C to A adapter so the front panel USB C is still free for my PSVR2.
No wonder they changed the new PS5 (slim) to have two front USB C ports!
I was expecting big things from the Pulse Explore, but couldn't be any more disappointed.
The Inzone Buds are actually hard to find. Apart from JB and Sony, no one seems to have them in stock.
I was tempted by these but the fact they only support the fairly new Bluetooth LE Audio, not standard Bluetooth, turned me off - need a Pixel 7, Samsung S22 or higher, or a few other high end android phones to connect without using a dongle.

It's 5$ more then this deal but possibly faster shipping, JB's Dec 27th at earlest, Sony tends to ship faster if you want it under the Xmas tree (but I could be wrong, holiday delays weee)
This or WFxm5?
