Greenworks Pro 60V 6.0Ah Cordless 21" Lawn Mower Kit (Bonus Blower & 6.0Ah Battery via Redemption) $999 Delivered @ DMC eBay

120
SAVETH

This seems to be a pretty good deal. The RRP is $1129, so the stock eBay price is $30 cheaper, then $100 off for the coupon, brings it to $999, plus a few $ off of cashback - free delivery (maybe only eBay Plus ?).

The seller is actually Dave's Mower Centre (DMC) in Charmhaven, and I confirmed with both him and Greenworks that he is a "participating dealer" for the redemption offer. I ordered this yesterday at 12:22pm (Brisbane time) and it arrived (Brisbane) at 10:20am today - so 22 hours from order to delivery in Brisbane is close to astonishing.

The mower is a 53cm (21") steel decked mower with a dual battery compartment (it switches automatically from one to the other), has self-propell drive, and the usual bag, mulch or side discharge. reviews seem positive online - watched a few YT reviews etc and it seems to compare well with EGO 2135-SP (53cm self propel). It comes with a 6.0Ah battery and fast charger (60 minute charge time). Supposedly around 55 minute or 1200m² run time on a single 6Ah battery.

The redemption offer is for a Greenworks Pro 60V blower and a 60V 6.0Ah battery (RRP for these is $600)

So, 21" steel decked self-propelled 60V mower, 2x 6.0Ah 60V batteries and a blower for under $1,000 - seemed OK to me.

I wonder how much difference in performance between this and the 80V 4Ah 51cm Greenworks mower, not self-propelled, which Costco sell for $949. Been as low as $749. Out of stock at the moment.

    https://www.costco.com.au/BBQs-Outdoor-Living/Lawn-Garden/La…

    • Does it come with the extra battery & blower ? This effectively has 12Ah (not 4Ah) of batteries which should be enough for most home lawns.

This 60V model also has the dual battery slots and is self-propelled, so a bit different in spec to the Costco 80V model.

  • I’d love to hear how you like it. We’ve been looking for a mower but we’re not sure whether a battery operated one will work. We have 400sqm of grass in our back yard, which is Sir Walter, so fairly robust and slightly sloping in one part.
We have a further 200sqm at the front but it’s easy to mow as it’s cooch and flat.

    • We have about 300m² of Sir Walter, so time will tell. We just mowed last weekend, so it will be a couple of weeks before it needs another cut.

One of the YT reviews showed this mower driving up a slope with no problems at all I think.

    • I got the lesser model (not self propelled etc) from total tools that includes the string trimmer for $699. I wish it had another battery in the package but it blew the ozito mower and trimmer I was using out of the water. Lawn was overgrown badly not to mention damp and the mower ripped right through it discharging, trimmer has heaps of oompfh. Obviously not the same as this deal but worth a look IMO.

    • We have a similar situation. Live in Oak Park Vic by any chance?

  • Thanks I've been waiting for a good price on this for ages, reading about it and ego and 80v I've chosen this one, just ordered.

    • The EGO equivalent (2135) comes with a 7.5Ah battery and a 2.5Ah battery (total 10Ah and no blower) by redemption and costs $1249 at Total Tools, so this seemed like much better value with the blower and 12Ah of batteries. This also has a "Turbo" mode (increases the speed from 2800rpm to 3200rpm I think) for thicker grass, which I don't think (but happy to be corrected) the EGO has.

I am also a bit wary of plastic decks because we tend to get a few stones, wood chip (mulch) and hard "seed" things (from palm trees) in the lawn, and I have heard of this kind of thing damaging the plastic decks.

I'm replacing a 10 year old Bosch electric with plastic deck, never had an issue with gravel and gumnuts

  • Looks like a premium mower

    • I hope so. We have been using a 2.5kW corded electric mower (steel deck) since 2008 and it still works OK, but getting a bit shabby and the blade needs replaced and since the mower is long since redundant there are no spares, so I hope this one goes the distance.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Any issue with the redemption online post purchase?

    • I put mine in the system today and Greenworks confirmed that they have received it without problems, but I have not had a confirmation that the redemption is being processed (too song).

I do not see a problem though. The printed receipt has the DMC Mowers Australia on it and they are a listed participating supplier on the Greenworks website, and a Greenworks rep also confirmed by FB chat that there shouldn't be a problem. David from DMC aslo confirmed that he is a participating dealer and there won't be a problem.

  • How does this compare with Ego 56V 52cm brushless? Ego is $250 more costlier and comes with a redemption battery making it $10ah total. I could trade in my old mower to make it $150 difference.

Greenworks has steel deck vs EGO's plastic. Greenworks has 2x 6Ah vs EGO's (7.5Ah + 2.5Ah). Greenworks has 60V blower vs EGO's no additional redemption, and it is as you say, still a fair bit cheaper. EGO has slightly larger grass box. Greenworks has a bit more range on selp-propel speed (can go from a bit slower up to a bit faster from memory). It isn't an exact science but it seems that Greenworks might get slightly better battery life (almost the same runtime on 6Ah as EGO gets on 7.5Ah - but this is not an accurate standard measurement. Greenworks can take two batteries side-by-side for those with larger lawns. EGO has slightly longer warranty (5 vs 4 years). EGO has twin blade but at least one YT review actually said that Greenworks still produced a better cut - I think this is pretty subjective though, and most of us wouldn't pick the difference.

As mentioned above the reviews I looked at had them both getting quite favourable reviews. Some favoured Greenworks, some favoured EGO. I think in the end it is probably a personal preference thing because they both seem to be similarly specced very capable mowers.

Personally I thought that Greenworks was a better option due to the 2x 6Ah batteries because I will probably get the whole lawn done on a single battery, so it effectively gives me a complete spare battery (EGO's redemption battery would be too small to be a true spare). I prefer the steel deck to plastic. Also the blower could be handy, and the extra cash in pocket is definitely handy.

  • Thanks for the extensive summary. I went down to total tools shop and compared this with Ego 52cm side by side. The Ego is lot more refined than Greenworks and easier to handle because it is lighter.

We bought the Ego and mowed 600sqm of lawns in the evening, very happy with the performance.

  • @Andy01 thanks for your post I purchased this and am happy with my purchase. Just wondering if you have received the redemption items? I am getting a bit nervous as I haven't heard anything from them and there doesn't seem to be a phone number to call and ask. Thanks.

I haven't yet. I did get an confirmation from them at the time saying that they have received my redemption but nothing since that. From past experience with redemptions (from Canon, Fujitsu etc), they are not terribly speedy and you usually end up waiting at least the specified time (45 days in this instance - for the product to be posted, not received/delivered), and it may be longer now because of the time of year ? I wish the damn thing had arrived because a fuel line on my Husqvarna petrol blower disintegrated so I am without a blower waiting on parts right now.

I will wait the 45 days (27th January) before trying to make contact with them.

In my experience the mower works well, the battery allows me to cut my whole lawn (around 320m² but broken into 6 awkward areas, so a bit fiddly) and with all the rain, humidity & heat in Brisbane, the Sir Walter buffalo has been long and thick - haven't had to use Turbo yet though. The self propel works really well. It is a fairly heavy machine though (my old 2000W corded electric was about 5kg lighter, even though it had a 45cm steel deck), so it can be a bit awkward to maneuver in tight spaces through long grass without the SP going. Really nice solid feel about though.

My only niggle is that when I set the mower cut height to where I would ideally like (number 3), the deck/chassis of the mower sometimes drags on the grass. My old mower had the blade at the same height as the bottom edge of the deck, but this one has the blade about 15-20mm higher than the bottom of the deck/chassis (sort of recessed up into the chassis). This means that to get the same height cut, the deck/chassis has to be lower to the ground which makes it easier to drag on bumps, tree roots etc. This probably is because we have quite thick Sir Walter buffalo grass - I think it would be less of an issue with a fine grass like green couch though.

I received my (redemption) blower & 6Ah battery today. Last Sunday was the 45th day, so I messaged Greenworks on Monday using wife's FB account and asked about progress.

Super helpful person replied within minutes that they have been swamped by redemptions but they would check. They came back about 30 minutes later to say that they had found my form and would send it out either Monday or Tuesday. They thought that I would get an email with tracking etc.

I didn't get anything but it was dropped off this morning (Thursday), so can't complain about that.
