  • Thanks grabbed a set

I have a set. Pretty decent quality but I like having the slightly rounded hex on the long ends for use on slight angles.

Without getting flamed, what do people use this for?

Manly men put them in their tool boxes, next to all the new Knipexs

      • For what use though- can you give examples. Always looking out to purchase things that are useful around the house etc

        • Working on bicycles, cars etc.

        • Sometimes my dining table chair legs need tightening, they are hex socket (allen) insert.

          Bicycle nuts/bolts also hex.

Some bits on my electric guitars need hex too (locking trem, locking nut etc)

Get yourself this nice set of hex keys :)

Oh theyre sold out. Too bad

    • They’re for allen head fasteners.

Any hobbyist electronics (RC cars, 3D printing), bicycles, flat pack furniture. Personally I find these tools absolutely critical. They are far, far better than those stupid phillips head or flat screws that strip or slip at the drop of a hat.

    Protanium
Light and durable metal, alloyed with a kiss of lightning
Protanium is a rare and precious metal alloy derived from fulgurite traces of the ore known as Arenkite (a combination of palladium and chromite). When Arenkite is struck by lightning, a spontaneous electrolytic reaction occurs and this creates a fulgurite sample of lustrous, exceptionally hard metal with a surprisingly low density. Though obviously very useful for a variety of applications (including jewelry, weaponry, and industry), Protanium has not been widely exploited due to its high melting point. Very few forges exist in the world that are capable of working fulgerized samples of raw protanium or even reforging existing artifacts composed of the precious metal. These include Manfred Klinnsmen's forge at the Montreal Academy and the ruined Great Forge of Brightmoon.

    I'm hard already.

  • I've had have a set of these for arround 20 years or so now, and apart from losing a couple they are still going strong!

Just bought a set. They are still in stock, but may need to go down to the "other sellers on Amazon" to find the lowest price as the link seems to go to a non discounted one now.

    • Thanks.

  • Why do I open OzBargain at 1 in the morning. Thanks OP

  • Back in stock.

  • Sold out again

  • Got these from bunnings about 3 years ago for $20 and they have been awesome.

    Thanks so much OP.

Spouse is a machine technician and couldn’t believe I got him another set and nearly fell over at how cheap they were.

    • +2

I had practically given up hope on getting this set cheap. I got the regular set ages ago and kept a price watch on the ball-end ones for literally years. I was probably just as shocked as your spouse was when the alert came through.

      • I think the set costs $95 odd bucks at total tools so a great bargain that made me check twice and just click buy 😂

The other half’s “why did you buy more Allen keys” fell to silence when I shared the price with them.
