[VIC] AleBlazer Craft Beer Membership - $40 for 52 Beers (1 Per Week Per Brewery) @ Various Breweries via AleBlazer

340

Ale Blazer has the objective of supporting the local craft beer scene (Victoria only thus far) by stimulating in-person visitation of brewery tap rooms.

In return for making the effort of checking out the brewery in person, Ale Blazer members get a free welcome beer on the following basis:

$10 Annual Membership gets you one free beer per month (total). You can visit any brewery on the list only once in the year for your freebie. That's 12 beers total for the year for $10.

$40 Annual Membership gets you one free beer per week (total). You can visit any brewery on the list only once in the year for your freebie. That's 52 beers total for the year for $40.

We are aware we only have 35 breweries listed to date but are adding new one's all the time. If you happen to make it through the available list before we get to adding sufficient breweries, we reset the full list so you can go back to your favourites.

There is no roll over if you miss a week/month.

Each brewery sets its own rules on the beer available but as the goal is to find new happy customers, most are very flexible & generous in their available range.

The system is set up to both provide great value and to support the local scene. It is deliberately set up to avoid pubcrawling freebies over a session that adds no real value to the brewery. We understand this may not be to everyone's preference.

Cheers!

Good to see you have Valhalla on the list. Some of my fav brews ..

    • Top beers, top people!

? It's literally an in-person visit to a brewery required.

    • +3

This is in the running for top lowest effort comment for 2023

Title is a bit misleading - might want to note that it is free beer on visiting brewery.

    Is it also VIC only?

It's an interesting concept and a worthwhile thing to support local breweries. But yeah it's not what the title suggests.

    • +2

NEEDS VIC Only in the title.

Apologies. Updated title. Thanks for feedback. Newbie here.

$40 plus the time effort and expense of driving all over the state.

    • +2

I mean it'd be very fun!

      • +2

Not that much fun when you need to drive home afterwards.

It’d be nice if it was a sample paddle or tour, actually try all the beers or do something interesting. I’m not driving to Geelong or Castlemaine just to have a beer and go home again.

Some people enjoy going out on a day road trip, staying for lunch, checking out the local areas etc.

Depends where you live though. It's a pretty good deal if you are in inner Melbourne. Some like Bodriggy, Stomping Ground, Molly Rose, are all pretty close to the CBD and there's quite a few only a tram ride away. If you visited 4-5 breweries that are close by you'd be breaking even and then the rest is just free beer.

  • This is awesome. Get a Brisbane presence and I'm all over it!

SEQ is definitely next. We hear Gold Coast is actually one of the spots in Oz for craft breweries?

Need to tidy up 30 or so more here in Vic first but coming your way!

      • +1

How about Sydney? There's plenty to choose from around Marrickville alone

      • +1

I haven't counted but Sunshine coast may actually have more. Loads in and around around Bris too.

  • Weird title, should be 1x per week

  • Interesting business. Do you subsidize the breweries at all or they are into it for the marketing alone?

  • +1

Hmm, so I can't walk down to my local brewery each month for a free beer on the $10 membership?

  • Great start, OP. Banks and Black Arts the standout breweries here. Hopefully you can sign up Deeds; and then Fox Friday when they open up next week.

  • Awesome list of breweries, nearly all my favs are there. I'll have to tell Daintons to contact you. Banks and Bad Shepherd highly recommend to everyone.

    • Dainton's are in financial trouble at the moment - hopefully they can work through it and keep going.

  • Seems cool. Might go the $10 since I'd probably just visit the ones near public transport. Someone should do something like this for our distilleries too

Misleading title imo. Nothing wrong against OP considering it’s their first post. 👍

    Fixed the title for u.
Ale Blazer - Craft Beer Membership - $40 for 52 Beers VIC ONLY - requires 52 brewery visit

Edit - Pickup only again doesn’t tell whole story. It seems pickup at once all 52 beers. Should add those 52 visits to any brewery in title.

      I'd suggest the following title:
[VIC] Ale Blazer Craft Beer Membership - $40 for 1 Beer/week for 52 Weeks (Pickup Only) @ Ale Blazer

  • Too late for me, I've already visited every single brewery in Victoria. All 158 of them.

    https://tinyurl.com/vicbreweries

    • Ah yes, forgot we're only allowed to visit once.

  • Great program, would be keen if something like this started in Syd.

Or a travel pass for VIC? 10 breweries in 3 days. Would make a fun weekend away.

  • So good - some more love for getting Valhalla on board. These guys will soon be an out and out powerhouse of the craft brewing scene. Can’t wait to try all the other local brewers too 🙌 just in time for summer! @aleblazer yell out if you need some additional contacts for breweries around the surf coast. Cheers

  • I want to join but get "error dispatching OTP message" when trying to sign up and you don't have any contact info on your site to resolve this.

  • How do I get the $10 membership? Want to buy one each for both of my sons.

  • Do you have a way of viewing the breweries available on a map…?

  • Hi OP, what size is the free beer?

    • pots

Q: Can I choose my own beer?

A: Each brewery determines what beers are available for their establishment. Their participation as a Ale Blazer venue is because they want you to come down, try their beer and enjoy their venue. Most are therefore pretty flexible in what is available. You’ll always receive at minimum, a pot of beer on showing your voucher, although many venues offer larger sizings & lots of choice.
