Baggage offering and additional pricing might be worth a mention?

If you add 1 x 30kg checked luggage it ends up being ~$300 more… going to the states u are going to want luggage to bring back stuff.
Therefore, for most ppl these tickets really compare/cost $1150-1200… at that price rather wait to see what United or other direct full services carriers offer before settling for the El Cheapo option.

      • Hell, just going to the US for a month as a tourist you'd want to be packing more than a napsack.

Still a competitive deal, just burying the cost, and not an ATL steal compared to direct flights.

It is only $300 more if you add it as excess baggage. The next tier up ticket is about $150 rtn inc 30kg.
That said, a non-stop flight for $1200 is probably worth it for most.

  • I travel with carry on bag only and I hear good things about Fiji Airways new A350 service.

Just don't accidentally pick the day when they operate a 737 from MEL to NAN.

Their semi-premium economy seats are called Bula Space and are generally much cheaper than PE on Qantas, AirNZ, Delta and United to the US.

    • Second this, flew with A350 (-900 if not mistaken) and it was good exp.

Got stung with the baggage which costs $300ish so compare the price with the next tier.

Aahh another thing worths to mention! The next tier also excludes choosing the seat number, and its quite costly for the Nadi-US legs. Return flights mean you'll have to pay 4x legs for seating.

If you dont want to pay those, always do online checkin at exactly 48-hrs before your flight time for free.

      Enjoy!

Not much, only if you like being treated like dirt in their border security in Los Angeles. I only go there because I have to, as a layover

      • Curious Question? - Does American Immigration discriminate between Euro/Aussie Passport holders vs 3rd world passport holders?

Are Euro/Aussie Passport holders treated the same way as Passport holders from 3rd world countries?

        • +1

Is US Immigration, America is the continent not some hypocrite and racist country. They will still discriminate even if you have a passport from the UK, Germany, Japan and Australia, is also how you look and they don't care, they will even scream at you.

          • @linkavich14: Really.

personally never had any trouble with US customs or Immigration and I have travelled there quite a few times, other than its slow at LAX.

Worst was getting grilled on how much Vegemite I had on me. When I said I never liked the stuff he waived me thru with a grin.

Of course like all immigration/customs, they like us, can have bad days.

        • There is always here and there.

My recent experience in LAX was amazing, she even recommended and wrote down some nice local hotels for us (family).

Different horrible experience compared to 15 years ago tho

    • The opinions of Australians about America are truely unhinged.

      • *truly

    • lol

  • We do Vegas 6 weeks at a time, only ever taken carry on.

  • do u beat flights

  • If seat selection is important to you … A recent flight … charged for seat selection as a QF Platinum as well (even though they are a OneWorld partial member).

    • Yep caught up with this on depart trip,

do only checkin 48hrs before departure time did the trick for me (on the way back)

Flew this route for a few times on Fiji Airways and it was always decent. Layover in Nadi is a bit boring given the lack of facilities and space at the terminal. You essentially end up eating and drinking for a few hours just to kill some time.

LA border security is not that bad, but they tend to get offended when I laugh at their questions enquiring about my intentions to move there permanently or find employment there. The worst part is they don't understand why am I laughing.
