Hi All,
Mate of mine is travelling overseas (Asia) and was wondering if he would be able to take his own Alcohol/ Liquor bottle instead of buying from the duty free outlets at the airport.
If yes, is he required to pack it a special packaging and does the bottle have to be kept in carryon luggage or checking baggage. Does the duty free outlet help provide the special packaging for his own liquor?
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you/they haven’t travelled in a while. Most airports do not allow drinking liquids past security, since at least 2001. Even plain water.
So, no, they cannot carry their own supply in person nor in hand luggage.
They can wrap it tightly and place in checked luggage and hope for no breakages. Make sure to stay within country’s import limits. There’s a max number of litres permitted (2.25L Australia).
