Good book, fantasy SciFi, space magic like, free because the second book is coming out on Tuesday.

Not much more to say, I enjoyed it, got a 4/5 from me on the kindle unlimited scale. It's free.

Audio book can be "added on" for 3.99$ at checkout

Has anyone co-written a book with a chatgpt? I started a sci-fi and thought of posting on Amazon. It takes lots of holding its hands and you still need to create a plot points etc, plus its slow going. But pretty interesting some of the ideas it came up with. I even used Stable Diffusion to create a cool cover.

It will be interesting world when we can prompt a system and it can churn out an entire book front to back.

I feel like some of the litrpg books are using this method, just pumping out trash so they can update on royal road weekly.

As for the deal I enjoyed this audiobook when it first came out, but I'm a big fan of his Cradle series so I guess that's expected. Thanks for the heads up on the new book!

      • I loved cradle and thought it punched well above its weight. I'm guessing he got lucky though. How does this compare as I want to avoid disappointment (free or otherwise).

Linden makes a cameo so worth it just for that but yeah, genuinely good. Space wizards 'nuff said.

      Why all the downvotes?

Because you will get absolute garbage.

        • Plenty of "pure" human books produce garbage… whos that guy that started Scientology? 👀

          • @Goremans: That's a weird argument. Just because there are many good human books but some bad ones doesn't change the fact that all AI books are garbage.

@Trentgibbo3: All. If true, for how longer will it be so? A year, maybe two.

I don't think I've heard of a system that has been trained specifically on writing novels. I would expect a model could write better than a human today, if trained to do so. Like a human.

              • @Goremans: There are lots of systems trained just for that 7b LLMs and storywriter being two examples.

LLMs are not good at logically ordering things so you might infer they will make good story writers when they can do sentences or paragraphs well, however they are garbage at putting chapters together into anything coherent.

Now, as a story writing helper, much better use case.

  • Was excited until I realised it wasn't in fact a book about Will Wright

Must have been free before, “You purchased this on 31st May.”
