  • Fitbit Charge 5 seems to have alright sleep and heart rate tracking for the price, Fitbit Charge 6's tracking appears to be far more accurate though

how is quality of Fitbit nowadays? I remember seeing many bad reviews.. mostly about damaged band in short period of time.

    • Nah they are fine. The OLED screens are way easier to read, those old monochrome screens you couldn't even read outside. Can easily get heaps of aftermarket bands cheap from eBay etc.

@AggroMango interesting ,I'd like to see some real world comparison data. I think they are essentially the same to be honest.

      • Same sensors but improved processing, check out this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYqvyWkEnoE

        • Nice, having a look ;)

'a lot better' is a bit much.. The Charge 5 was a lot better than the Charge 4.
Edit: seems the the tracking looks better according to his graph. wonder how many tests for each device.
I reckon the GPS is the same for both, never been great.

I've noticed a lot of errors in most articles, saying that the physical button is back on the side.

My FB Charge 5 has a bit of a scratch on the screen, could upgrade i guess but similar enough over all..
Got a 20$ ebay voucher but only takes it to $138 (so better to use that for something else).

    • Customer service is still great, if there were any concerns about it after the Google takeover. My dad's Charge 4 effectively died a couple weeks back - battery life measured in minutes - and a replacement is on the way which they provided with no resistance. No receipts or anything, just told support it was a gift, which it was.

Warning: BingLee shipping is pathetic. Ordered something via EBay last weekend and it still hasn’t shipped. Check out their reviews on EBay and you’ll see I’m not alone. They should have their EBay Plus rating stripped.

    • Yeah they are meant to ship within 2 days
FK them, I'd go and get it price matched at Officeworks or TGG.

      • can price match if it is using ebay code? how about matching with jbhifi?

        • prob not but just ring TGG and ask

Could have done it by now lol

    Any deals on charge 6?

  • I rate these. Great little device to wear to the gym without the worry of getting it damaged (because of the price, that is).

  • if you are a beginner or new to these things, then fitbit is fine. if you get more serious, definitely make the upgrade to garmin.

  • In addition to @Hugh G Rection, don't get fitbit if you're planning to use it for bike ride. Their GPS tracking is weird, you'll be missing a lot of data.

Agree, get a garmin bike computer (or watch at least), if you're serious enough into cycling then you'd have one anyway.
You can manually start activities, probably recommended for the bike as I've noticed it counts the first 10-15min as steps before it works out you're going for a ride.
There's no way i've done 10k steps the days i cycle in, but don't care as cycling is better fitness anyway than sedentary steps.

The fitbit is a good cheap basic health metrics device (steps, cals, hr etc), good enough for most people but worth spending more if it's going to be your only watch you wear (the FB is pretty minimal).

      • agree, its funny where the fitbit does "great" is sleep, lol. the activity you aren't even moving. what a great fitness tracker, lol.

        • I'm interested in the sleep tracking and steps, most people would be too i think.

          • @G-rig: it would be in addition to "fitness activity"
Primary should be making sure you have the highest accuracy in tracking movement.
that's like buying a car that doesn't have accurate reading in speed, rpm, fuel level, engine temperature, and saying it is a great car because it is amazing at parking i.e. fitbit. lol

fitbit has its place with newcomers and beginners. After you get over the novelty, then you start wanting something better like a garmin.

            • @Hugh G Rection: They are generally fine for most people. But sounds like you are into monitoring HR zones and recording/analysing actives etc.

I would usually recommend a Garmin too (and did for my bro as his only watch is a 945, took me forever to convince him to replace his broken FB4).
I wear a normal watch so not keen on a smart watch. For the bike I got a Garmin Edge 530, never bother with the HR strap anymore but should once get back into it.

Steps and sleep are a novelty but nice to know.
anyway people are making out it's night and day vs the Fitbit 5 when they are very similar…
probably no point in upgrading then (but I usually sell the previous one before it's too old and sell for $80 or somthing).

Had these, needed for ECG readings, but were a hit & miss. Wonder if Charge 6 made any improvements?

15% TopCashback at TGG at $148 for the Charge 5 today.

      • Good price- they used to go for $169-175 on Amazon sometimes (including when the Charge 4 was current).

  • Thanks, ended up buying an Inspire 3 instead!

Be aware of the endless reboot and X loop of the 5. Happened to me recently after 18 months. They have no sure fix of it.

Good price, probably the cheapest way to get contactless payments on your wrist.

Caveat for some (like me) however - the Charge 5's Fitbit pay is not supported by every bank (looking at you HSBC). Charge 6 has Google Wallet which is just about universal.

    • It is but people complaining google pay not working with the Fitbit charge 6 in the other thread.

  • Great price, thanks! Doing click and collect.
