[PS4, PS5] Hotline Miami 1 and 2 Collection $7.48 (Exp), or Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, $11.47 @ PlayStation store

360

EDIT / IMPORTANT update from the comments. Apparently the bundle of 1 and 2 is cheaper at $7.48!! Credit to OfTheOverflow. I already had the first so couldn't see the bundle price, link https://store.playstation.com/en-au/concept/10005940 - Expired
The second one can still be purchased separately for those who own the first already, although annoyingly for more.

Original post
So bit of a random one. Noticed Hotline Miami 2 available on the PS store for 50% off at $11.47.

Last I heard, this game wasn't available for sale in Australia, but it's possible it snuck through classification when they rereleased the native PS5 version? Happy to be corrected if this is not the case.

Either way, I had no issues purchasing through the PS store mobile app and could see the listing on the PS5. It's a cross console bundle, so includes PS4 and PS5 versions.

Game also included on PS Plus Extra/Premium

  • Pass. It’s not on the house.

  • Good game, not much replay value

  • I had to get this from another 3rd party store for PC as it's banned in Australia. Fun game and awesome soundtrack like the last one.

  • Rating on the PS Store page says MA15+, so not even R18+. It's gone from RC to MA15+. Either a mistake or they've censored it?

    • Apparently it was given MA15 for the Switch in 2019, without changes

First one was good, quite hard. Read the second is harder!

The second is very very very difficult and to the point of not fun. The maps don't feel as well designed and it was overall a huge disappointment.

It requires approaching levels differently. Once you git gud and learn to live with the harder design, it all clicks and is a masterpiece.

    • Got the first one, it's too hard for me, not fun.

      • I couldn’t finish it but enjoyed the time I spent. Died so many times!

    Hotline Miami Collection (1 & 2) is cheaper at $7.48 :)

One of my favourite games of all time. Easily favourite soundtrack.

Wtf that deal is 10x better lol

    • Bruhhh where were you an hour ago :'O lol. Good find!

    • Good pickup! I have Hotline Miami in my library already so couldn't see the price of the bundle.
Updated the original post! Sorry for those who wanted both / didn't have either.

    • Dang, looks like I missed the sale, back up to $29.95

    • Also I tried searching for this on the PS5 and couldn't find it, only the games separately. Have to go through the psn link

Apparently the PS5 versions have lag (I think remade in unity from games maker or something). PS4 versions play better I recall hearing (even on PS5)

    • Came to say the same

I platinum'd it in the day, playing a shitload on PS3, Vita, and PS4, every version was perfectly comparable in quality and performance.

Been recently replaying number one here and there on Xbox One (and Steam Deck coincidentally) and checked out the Series X version it to compare … personally, I didn't notice any lag, gameplay wise, but there was a few things I didn't care for. Number one, when you finish a level, you can't hit X (or A) anymore to speed through all the bonuses for kills you did, so you're left sitting there for like 30/40 seconds as it reads out all the kill types you did which is rather tedious tbh. Beyond that, number two, there's a little bit more loading, in between levels and whatnot, but nothing major.

Like tbh, if you haven't played the originals, and even if you have, if you didn't smash them, you probably won't notice.

Supposedly they ported it to a whole new engine and that's the cause for these rereleases and the changes. Personally, I don't mind either way based on what I've played, however, I'm sticking with the originals solely because on Xbox the 2 pack is about a gig, whereas the new ones individually are like 3 or 4 gig a pop, second one might even be more. I didn't play the PS5 one for more than five minutes, but I think it was only a few hundred meg much like the originals, so idk what the (profanity) they forgot to compress over on Xbox.
