Good price. Have had this for 6months - great dryer.

  • +1

If you dont have rinse bypass at laundry sink then you will have issue of condensing drain hose and need to find alternatives which I am still struggling to find proper solution…

My post is here for ref:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810094

    • +6

I'm confused… my condensing hose just goes into the sink itself?

    • +1

Is the drain hose mandatory or is there a condensate collection tank?

The drain hose from my Bosch wouldn't fit in the drain hole in the sink because the washing machine drain hose was already there, so I just manually empty the condenser tank into the sink or onto the plants outside.

      • condenser tank may not hold all water everytime and I guess if that happens the efficiency of machine will reduce (may run longer time without even drying)

        • +1

i have the older model and it will alert when the tank is full, and continues after emptying

  • Decent dryer. I believe it's 3 years warranty with product registration.

  • Good value.

  • +6

I thought mine was great until it died at 3 years and 9 months. Replacement parts were impossible to get, designed to be consumable…

    • 500 is probably acceptable if you use it often

      • I use mine all the time, for the price its not really worth getting someone to repair though.

    • Did you exercise your ACL rights?

      • +2

We did not, contacted the manufacturer who was unhelpful and suggested a repair service which was going to be a $175 callout and assess before parts. Faced with the prospect of multiple weeks of back and forward in winter with a family's washing, we ended up going Bosch for the replacement.
Fingers crossed we get a better run from that.

      • +4

No offence but people who say 'Oh but ACL' seem to have no concept of the value of time. It takes months for action and drains many hours of your life with zero guarantee of the manufacturer coming to the table.

Warranty's in Australia are a joke, I mean look at any non-china TV brand = 12 months. If that is against the ACL, then it should be completely illegal to even advertise.

        • Yeah I went down this route and got stonewalled. ACL around reasonable expectations are not tangible and companies openly skirt the rules. Meanwhile I didn’t have a functioning washing machine.

ACCC won’t step in and help, they only look at big ticket items that they get a lot of reports about.

Instead I just bought a cheap ass beko with a 5 year warranty and if it breaks after 5 years and 1 day I’ll throw it out and buy a new one and still be better off.

    • What error did you get? Mine recently had an issue claiming it was full but I imagined to convince the customer service person to send out the replacement part.

We'll see if I can fix it myself or not…

  • +3

Highly recommend. Still going strong at a little over 2.5 years of daily (sometimes multiple times per day) use.

  • Does it require any special piping or anything like that for the drain ?

    • +1

Just run it down the same drain as your washing machine uses.

      • Thanks!!

      • +4

What if my drain aint big enough for dp!?!?

        • +26

          Spit on it.

          • @henno: I was thinking there might be some sort of double-adapter……

        • +3

My drain hole thing at the top corner of the laundry sink won't fit both the washing machine pipe and dryer pipe, so I have the dryer pipe just going into the laundry sink itself (but I cable tied the washing machine pipe and dryer pipe together so the dryer pipe doesn't move around or fall out of the sink)

          • @MrGareth: I am thinking of doing the same. I have my washing machine drain pipe going into the laundry sink itself already and planning to tie the dryer pipe together. Btw, does the dryer come with a drain pipe or do I have to purchase it separately?

        • +2

          DP, funny!

Seriously though, I had the same problem, and was potentially bad. I noticed that the 'dirty' washing water expelled fromthe washing machine pipe, would sometimes reflux back up into the dryer pipe!! Not good!

Luckily I found this and could install it myself.

  • Anyone in QLD know whether this dryer is eligable for the climate smart energy rebate scheme?

    • +2

It is greater than 4 star energy rating so yes, but the estimated delivery date is after 4 December when the scheme ends

      • Can you just submit the form first?

        • Interested to know also

          • +2

@Evostar: The form makes you declare you have had it delivered.

            • +1

@derpdeder: thanks for the info. luckily they have given me the 4th as the delivery date!

  • FYI $30 cashback through Yello on CBA c/cards

    • Does it still count if the purchase is via eBay?

    • Believe it's targeted? I didn't see anything except for 100off from 800 spend on Appliances Online website

  • +2

Can this operate by just emptying the water tank with each use rather than needing to connect a drain hose?

    • +2

Yes. Just make sure the tank is put back properly each time.

      • Will water overflow if forget to empty?

        • +5

It stops the cycle and flashes an LED to empty the tank

    • Yes empty it straight into your pot plants.

  • +2

I’ve had this since September and I’m very happy with it so far.
I just use the water container and empty it each time. You have to clean the lint filter each time anyway so it’s no extra hassle.

A cycle takes 240minutes for standard and the clothes haven’t shrunk at all.

    • Every wash you need to empty? The water tank?

      • +3

Yeah, these heat pump dryers suck water from the wet clothes like magic, but that water has to go somewhere. After a year of emptying the tank by hand, you'll realise you should just plumb the draining hose in. Easy to do if you have a nearby laundry sink

      • +1

Yes every wash. It’s amazing how much water there is. But it’s not condensation on your walls causing mould like traditional dryers.

  • +1

For anyone buying make sure you clean the lint compartment at the front. Bit of a bitch to do but can build up and be a fire hazard. Other than that great cost effective dryer

    • Yeah then the grill starts filling up and you're in a worse position

      • +1

I noticed that and assumed it was because the lint is bypassing the filter.
I'm using a soft toothbrush with a cut down handle to gently clean the condenser fins.

  • Interestingly enough when I go to the store or 'seller's other items' this doesn't appear? I need a washing machine and want to look at what they have, but seeing as this dryer won't show in their items I don't think their washing machines will either..

  • +9

I got the same machine just over a year ago from Bunnings

It’s great while it’s working, but the belt of the drum has been broken just after one year of use, luckily it’s still under warranty so got a third party repairer came and replaced the belt. The man mentioned the belt is thinner than the normal belt so he need to come twice as the first belt he brought wasn’t correct

In case some one needs to have the belt replaced, this is the model:

    • +1

Just commenting so I can find it in the future if needed. Cheers

    • Hi there, was the symptom that it would not start spinning when you tried to start a drying cycle?

I am discusing with bunnings and the supplier a return for one that has stoped worrking after 14months. It would appear its very well made as this dryer only did 2-3 loads a week.

The old electrolux 7kg I got for $200 off gum tree lasted about 5 years and was still going strong. Sure it may use a bit more juice (20c?) a load, but jee $300 buys you alot of energy and I'm sure much better for the enviroment than a new dryer every few years.

      • Yes, the dryer won’t spin but there’s hot air coming out

If you try to manual spin the drum you will feel much easier as the belt broke and lose resistance

  • +2

Why would you spend $555 on a dryer that will break on you in 5 years when you could spend $300 more on a Bosch or something dryer that will last you 20 years?

    • +1

I hope you prove me wrong, but I can't see any $800 dryer built today lasting anywhere near 20 years.

You might still be able to get parts a good while down the track but unless you're handy enough to fix it yourself it probably isn't worth repairing.

    • I would go even further and ask, for those that are single at least, why buy a dryer at all? Upgraded* to an ALDI drying rack ($30), haven't used my dryer in years.

      *that's free electricity folks.

      • Because we have money

      • I'm assuming that your bath towels feel like sandpaper on your skin and you like ironing clothes?

        • non-iron shirts and pants (washed on permanent press cycle and hung to dry straight away) for the win

      • +1

It's absolutely a fair point. Not everyone needs one.

The convenience is absolutely worth it in some climates and for those of us who are never home during daylight hours

      • as a single person, stocking up on dirty laundry to make a full load on the washer/dryer is quicker, easier and less time consuming than constant small loads throughout the week.

    • +2

I went down the premium appliance route and got burned. I’m better off buying the cheap stuff and replacing it when it breaks.

      • I did the same with a washing machine, I crunched the numbers and replaced it with an Esatto which I could replace twice over the cost of my first purchase and still have change left in my pocket.

So far the gamble has worked out, the quality of the wash has also been indistinguishable from the more expensive machine.

Heat pump dryers are so 1990's.

Is the BFSNS code only for Ebay Plus? I can't get this price ($555) when I try. Code not accepted.

  • Can someone help? I can't see $555, only $625 on ebay/appliances online…

    thanks!

    • Needs Code: HGTNOV if non Ebay plus member gets down to $565. I think BFSNS if you are Ebay member and gets down to $555

      • +1

thanks! unfortunately they are not delivering to my address. :(

        • +1

Sadly neither codes working for me :(

          • +1

@Marit: i managed to get it down to $595.

bought it from their actual website, using the referral link of $30.

still acceptable since i need a new dryer, and shouldn't let $40 break the deal.

            good luck!

Had this dryer for around 18 months. Great dryer and love the convenience. Very easy to plumb the draining hose into a nearby sink. We use it nearly every day. You have to remove the lint every now and then, but I find removing large wodges of lint strangely satisfying.

    • I love emptying the lint.

  • +1

Can someone confirm if the 8kg comes with the drain hose? When I am comparing 7kg and 8kg on appliance online website, it seems like the 8kg doesn’t have the drain hose and not stackable
    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/comparison/ehpd7/ehpd80/

Maybe they missed out the information?

  • +1

We've had this dryer for close to a year, and I rate it highly, but it really is important to regularly clean the lint from the condenser, which the manufacturer states should be done every couple of months. In my experience, if not cleaned more frequently, then the lint on the condenser can start to generate a musty smell, because it retains moisture, even if the instructions to leave the machine door open after a cycle are followed.

That said, we've got three kids, and have noticed a positive impact on our energy use compared to our previous dryer, and the inconvenience of the longer cycles can be mitigated with a small amount of planning. We haven't bothered to plumb the machine, either, and happily water plants when emptying the tank. Also, our laundry is quite small, so not having as much moist air put into the space by the dryer is a huge win, particularly as we're in a sub-tropical area.

  • can this be wall mounted and can it be upside down?

    • based on some comments i read, it seems to be too heavy and there are warnings everywhere regarding it being wall mounted.

also cannot be used upside down.

  • Snagged one! Can anyone recommend a 9-10kg washing machine ? Tia

  • We purchased a heat pump dryer a few months ago. The only thing I would say is they are very, very slow. A load of towels will regularly take 5 hours.

  • Can this directly go on top of a washing machine or would it need some accessories?

    • +1

Most newer front loaders can take the weight of a heat pump dryer on top of them. Just make sure that the dryer's dimensions aren't larger than the washer's. I just laid a couple of old towels over my washer and plonked my dryer on top—makes it easier to make small adjustments to the dryer's position, if needed, and no scratches on the washer. It's been working perfectly for me for the past 2 years.
You can get accessories, but I find them extremely over priced for, what is, a couple bits of moulded plastic. And even then, they might only work if you use them for the same branded washer/dryer combo.

  • +1

Assuming Esatto and Teka are the same stuff… My Teka worked fine for ~2.5 years until water pump become a bit clogged (yes, that lint that you see in condenser, goes further as well), and stopping with "Full" message every 10-20 mins. All the instructions for heat pump dryers on the youtube are "that's no big deal, just open small plastic door on the back to access the pump and clean it". Yeah, but there is no door here. I even removed walls and top, and you still cannot access the pump - it's in plastic enclosure, and you need at least remove the drum to access it.

So it's effectively not serviceable, after 2-3 years it would be cheaper to buy new one than service it.

Replaced with Bosch, which have plastic door on the back.

    • I had the same issue with the Full message, they sent a new moisture sensor that should fix it but I've yet to attempt to self repair.

    • Great comment, thanks. Pretty shameless to make these so disposable…

  • Is it possible to use without water drain hose connections?
I'm using top road washing machine and there is no space for dryer the next of washing machine.😭

Oh… it has colletion tank but not enough size…

  • This or pay a little more for something like Hisense?
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-8kg-heat-pump-dryer-h…

  • Thanks OP. Finally pulled the trigger, stacked with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/814310 & https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810923 to stack with gift cards to bring it down further….only 6 left by the time of buying.

  • Ok received and installed … it comes with the drainage hose. But the end tip is a clear plastic and unable to connect to the existing connector

    • you can probably stretch out and clamp a 10mm clear vinyl tubing/poly pipe around the end connector and the 13mm end of this reducer then with 19mm clear vinyl tubing/poly pipe and clamps connect it to the spigot:

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/k-rain-19-x-13mm-reducing-joiner…

if you want to be really pedantic about it theres a 13mm to 10mm poly joiner you can use to step up

  • Ok got it, it’s a bit different to the 7kg.
The clear plastic tip is to the sink, the cylinder cap on the other side be can be pulled out and cover the original hose. All good now :)

    • how heavy it is. Can it be lifted by 2 ppl to move? i may have to park it somewhere before finding resting place for it…

      • edit. found it 49kg in one of the pdf

        • Would be bit more with the packaging. But I was offered for them to unpack, stack it on my front loader and take away my broken old dryer.

          • @eecchhoo: that's quite helpful. In our case boss doesn't want it stacked so its going straight in garage for now.

  • Thanks OP, finally pulled the tigger after reading a lot of reviews! seems to be a good value for money product. Let's see :)

  • Could somebody who has ordered this for me check out their unit. Is this unit mean to have a 2nd filter where the condensor/heat exchanger is behind the panel bottom left of the front of the dryer.

Certainly in this video of the 7kg Esatto dryer, there is a 2nd filter unit (see at 6:20 of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuZOMPdUwRQ).

However there is nothing in my unit. https://ibb.co/c18f9bH

    Thanks.

    • Yeah no filter on mine. Just the cover and you can see the heat sink. Need to clean it more often i guess
