Ubiquiti Unifi Switch 24 Port PoE Switch $709.99 Delivered (was $757.90) @ ProvecTech

50

Found this decent deal for a UniFi switch. Average price lately has been around ~$740 for this switch, so this is a good price given how much Ubiquiti gear has been going up recently.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

Also just be sure, if youre buying to POE power AP's etc, that you check the wattage budgets of the Gen 2 Unifi switches

They drastically hampered them compared to Gen 1 units, i.e. we ordered a 16 Port Gen 2 after using the Gen 1's for years

    Gen 1 POE budget: 150w
    Gen 2 POE budget: 42w

Be aware folks, theyre basically pushing people toward the Pro series gear.

And be aware that the newer AP's can be hungrier than previous Gen units too

Yeah I got a pro paying $1k ish after looking at the spec.

      • glad you didnt get burnt like many of us did, i mean you just dont expect a brand to reduce a unit youve been buying for years to do THAT to you, tank the wattage by SO much…but well Ubiquiti…

Yes exactly. I have the pro version of this switch on my camelcamelcamel for a long time now and nothing yet.

      FYI,
This switch USW-24-POE has 24 ports of which 16 are POE capable.
It has 95 watts to share among the 16 ports.

    • Any easy way to tell them apart, other than the power budget? Been looking to replace the 8 port, 4 PoE, switch I have now to get some more PoE ports.

I believe the difference is in the model # - I think it's a little unfair to say that Unifi has done a switcheroo here as some other commenters have suggested.

        Gen1 - US-24-POE - 250W
        Gen2 - USW-24-POE - 95W

I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying to track down a Gen1 model - it has a higher power budget but it also has a fan. I believe gen2 is fanless?

I have 4 access points, 3 cameras and a zigbee coordinator running on PoE currently, this consumes <40W.

        • Ah, that's good to know. I currently have 3 APs, 1 camera, and a console, with plans to add 2 more cameras and another AP. Sounds like the 95Wight be okay. Was thinking of just avoiding issues with adding something and running out of juice.

Edit: actually, one of those APs is using an injector, since I only have 4 PoE ports at they moment.

        • Gen 2 switches aren't fanless, but runs silent under most loads

I've got a mate who only ran into the POE limit at 8 G4 Pro cameras, and 6 nano-HD's, so I wouldn't underestimate how much 95W can give you. In that case, he was definitely pushing it and did upgrade to a Pro, but unless you're running that much, this switch should be fine.

I also damn well hope it'll be fine, cause I just ordered it not long after posting the deal lol, but I've only got a few AP's, granted they're the WiFi 6 gen, but still, should be alright.

Edit: I did remember that when he two PoE phones, he was still mostly good, but if anything had a spike of power draw (such as one of the cameras trying to focus at night) an AP would drop for about 1-2 seconds and reboot. Something worth keeping in mind.
