I bought a gopro 12. I didn't do any research into the 12 and not release I needed to buy extra accessories.
I need your help and suggestions (with links if you don't mind) as to which accessories I need to get so that I can start using it without too much fuss. I would love to see

I was thinking a stick thing for filming out of the water and would I need a case for under water?
How long of a handle do you need? If you're using it in water a float is a good idea so it doesn't sink if you lose grip on it. They have a short handle that doubles as a float but it's only about 30cm long. If you need longer than that they have the el grande I think it's called which is about 1m. I'd add the float case if you go with something like that. The clear case is only required for diving, not snorkling etc.

Accessories only needed for certain things - you want to mount it on your cats collar? You will need an accessory for that … etc
is there an sd card that you would suggest or are they all the same?

Accessories - as others mentioned, it really depends on what you want to do. If you are after shooting in a water, you can get away with as little as just a long 30-50cm lanyard which you can securely attach to your arm or neck. The camera itself is waterproofed, so that's what I used for my underwater shots. Try that first, if you feel something is missing - you can go to Aliexpress and experiment with other accessories.
I very rarely shoot in water. My shots are from my glider flying so the accessories I use are more about being able to stick something to a canopy, easily attach/remove it (got it delivered literally as I was typing this) and to be able to provide external power to it for a long 3-4hrs flight. There are a lot of accessories on Aliexpress and I find the best way is just to try. I purchased some that I've found not really helpful (this for example, GoPro overheats in this one), others were great and not expensive.
Do you have a mount to film whilst driving or are you just holding the camera?
Mix of a suction cup and a head strap. Or just holding if the car is not moving or on private road. Alternatively get the passenger to take a few shots.

You only need accessories to do specific things, the camera alone works just fine as a camera. So what is it you need to do that you currently can't?
